History of The Lane House:
The Lane House stands on the site of the previous home of Frederick Lane. Frederick Lane arrived to Lummi Island in 1880, and was part of the third family to permanently settle on Lummi Island.
Lane wore many hats after he settled on this small island. He cared for a kerosene-burning navigation light on the tip of the spit. He also helped create school district #32 on the island and was the first school superintendent.
From 1887 to 1890 he was postmaster. After the official post office opened in 1892 he delivered mail between the island and Fairhaven in a small sailboat.
Frederick Lane also planted the famous Black Walnut tree that still stands proud today where North Nugent Road meets Blizard Road.
Relax and unwind in this waterfront oasis. This is so rare to be located just steps away from a secluded beach and also have a spacious lawn!
The house has many large windows so you can capture the beauty of this unique little island.
Watch the ferry sail by across Hale Passage while sipping your favorite beverage. Mount Baker looks majestic in the light of the early morning sunrise.
The large open kitchen is well equipped and perfect for cooking meals with family and friends.
The dining area is located just off the kitchen and has a large window that looks out to the ocean.
The open-concept living area boasts high vaulted ceilings and a towering rustic stone fireplace. This home is crafted with gorgeous natural wood and feels so natural and cozy.
Located off the living area is a naturally lit bedroom equipped with a comfortable Queen bed. There is also a sofa that can pull-out and can comfortably sleep one.
Just down the hall is the primary bedroom set with a comfortable King bed and an en suite bathroom with a walk-in shower.
There is also an additional bathroom on the main floor that has a very spacious walk-in top to bottom tiled shower.
There is a large/utility laundry room with a washer and dryer available for guest use.
The stairs off the living area lead to the open loft area. This fun space has a ping pong/pool table and is stocked with plenty of board games!
The loft also has 2 futons for additional sleeping arrangements. This space also has a 1/2 bath for your convenience.

This is our second time here. I love it. It is right on the waters edge and so peaceful. You can watch the ferry go back and forward and all the wild life in the water and land. We kayaked and explored the island. The island people are very friendly and the house was very comfortable and inviting.

Not only is this house even more incredible than the pictures would indicate, which you can see the location and house are amazing, but the hostesses were also incredible! The house is stocked with everything from indoor/outdoor games, books, additional chairs and everything you could need to maximize your time at this fabulous house. Everything was so well thought out and planned and my group had the most magical time. Our only wish was that we could have stayed longer.

This house was located right on the beach and we were lucky to be able to see the ferry come and go everyday across the sound. Was lovely waking up and having coffee outside on the porch in the suns rays. We played ping pong upstairs and kayaked and cycled. A great peaceful, quiet atmosphere. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay :)

The home and property were just as described but what a wonderful surprise were all the special touches the hosts had to welcome us to our stay!
The layout of the home is perfect for a small group, with open yet cozy spaces to gather for meals or games or just look out the expansive windows at the beautiful view. The porch felt like an extension of the living room with a wall of windows and french doors, and offered a protected and private outdoor space from which to watch the beautiful skis and nature, included a visiting doe. The kitchen was well stocked and super user friendly which made cooking together almost as fun as dining together, and the ping pong table and many games helped family fun. And each sleeping space had its own style and charm.
We felt both at home and on vacation the minute we arrived. The house is beautiful and well-appointed in all things and the hosts friendly, helpful and caring, We will certainly return!
