Absolutely fine accommodation above a pub. Shared bathroom, but with a very nice shower.

Very friendly host/owner. Managed to get there on the first day before their restaurant service finished and had an excellent spicy pizza. Shame I didn't have time to try other menu items. The room itself was a good size, lots of storage space and a kettle with some coffee/tea on hand. The bed was fine, although a little firm for my taste but otherwise comfortable. There was also a very small, almost cute freeview TV. Lets face it, you're not there to watch TV, but it's good enough and works. My only issue was the sash windows aren't double glazed and being roadside meant there was quite loud traffic noise, particularly with trucks. But it's an old building. So it's a minor thing personally.
The shared bathroom/toilet is a good size and the shower was very good. Lots of complimentary shower gels on hand.
Overall I nice place to lay your head. As I'm working in Bristol for a couple of months I'm pretty sure I'll use again. Price wise it was reasonable. On par with other places I'd looked at within a commutable distance of Bristol as Bristol itself is very expensive especially if you don't get free or included car parking.

I was pleasantly suprise by the size and comfort of the rooms for the price, which although quite basic, were adequate for a short stay and great value. The staff were very welcoming and helped with our cases. It was a great location for walking to the shuttle bus.
The downsides were the shared bathroom, steep stairs and no parking on site.

Overall, room was very spacious, clean and came with an ensuite bathroom. The double bed was comfortable. However, the condition of the room was below standard. For example, the bathroom door had no door handle, the tv didn't work, the main bedroom light wasn't working, and no milk provided for tea/coffee. If these improvements were in placed would give it a 4-star rating.

Not too bad

A grade II listed property in a historical part of Shepton Mallet. Took time to read up on the area, would recommend everyone to do that, very interesting. Comfortable bed, clean room and great hosts. Some noise from the road adjacent to the Inn, not a deal breaker. Would I stay here again Yes.

No double glazing in the bedroom overlooking the main road resulted in too much traffic noise overnight.
Also parking near the hotel was not good.

Staff very helpful

Staff very nice and helpful but toom was had stale/stuffy smell. Right on road and so quite noisy. Room decoration and furniture need updating. Difficult to see how this is a four-star, upscale B&B.

Perfectly good for the value. Good stay.

Staff were welcoming and helpful. Kitchen was closing by the time I arrived at 20:50, but I got a fantastic pizza. Good beer. Room was clean and comfortable, if a bit tired. Separate shower room and toilet were clean with quality toiletries. However ceiling light wasn't working. I'd stay again.

Nice convivial 4 night stay with very friendly hosts. Room was a good size abd clean. The bed was well made made and comfortable. The bathroom though not en-suite was a pace across the hall and huge well equiped and an excellent walk in wet room shower.
The bar and restaurant area was has excellent cosie charm vett clean and tidy with a traditional skittle alley and nice beer garden. Although I didn't eat but saw the food which looked delicious and and was well received by fellow customers. Good local beers as well.

Very well managed and lovely place to stay. I wish I could have stayed more days. Very friendly restaurant and pub downstairs, everything taken care of. The area is accessible by bus in either direction (Wells or Bath) and the town itself is highly walkable. I would stay there again.

Room ok for the money. Food good but they did not have the likes off mushrooms or beans as listed. Breakfast was full English for £10.00 or a bacon sandwich was the same price.

Limited parking off site and the road was very noisy at night making hard to leave the window open.
However the service was excellent, staff went out of their way to help with whatever they could, and after a late arrival the Chef made us an excellent meal even though service had stopped for the night.
Very pet friendly, water bowls and pet bed offered on arrival

Stayed one night between visits to local area. Gentleman behind a very busy bar trying to deal with that plus us. Locals friendly as was the barman who manage to get us a table as we were stuck in traffic and arrived later than we had planned. Found parking near by so no issues there. Be aware shower/toilet room is shared with the other 3 bedrooms, no problem during our stay as don’t think there were any other guests. TV in room but no kettle as I was expecting as it’s on the list on my confirmation under home comforts. Looking at our paperwork on return home it does say coffee/tea in shared area under the header food and drink, this shared area was not pointed out to us. However there was a bottle of sparkling water in our room and as I said above we only stayed one night. We had to ask about the morning how to get out/what to do with the key. Also had to ask about the Wi-Fi code. Everything was very clean and toiletries were available in the shower room, towels in your room. We had a road side room, the windows are singled glazed and the road is noisy, especially when the lorries hit a dip in the road, it is also well lit by the outside street lamp. So if noise/light affects you be prepared with ear plugs and eye covers. We found the bed comfy but only one pillow each.

Wasn’t expecting to share a bathroom with 4 other rooms. But apart from that it was fine.

We had a great experience staying here - the owners are new and have only recently purchased the pub so they are still working on some areas. They seem like they are making a real effort and I think this will end up a really nice place to stay and eat / drink etc. We had dinner in the restaurant area and food and service was great. The room was fine - very clean and a good size. I found the mattress a little soft and not enough support but obviously this is subjective - some people do not like a firm mattress. Maybe two pillows per person or plumper pillows would be nice also. The shared bathroom is a good size and again was very clean. The new owners were friendly and also the barman was very helpful and polite and friendly. All in all we enjoyed our stay. Price was very reasonable also.

Disappointed welcome. No eye contact from any staff had to wait to be greeted. Person who greeted us didn’t recognise us after we had returned from a walk. We had to ask for a key.
Had supper on eve we arrived. Food ok.
Staff were discussing cash flow behind bar not a good sign.
Bar ran out of several beers and they blamed unexpected no of people who came to play skittles. Perhaps another symptom of cash flow issues.
We were locked out one evening as we returned from supper out (about 10.30pm), luckily hotelier was dozing watching tv so we knocked on window to get in. He had forgotten to tell us how to get in after hours.
Room clean but no tea or coffee making facilities.
No hairdryer.
Only one pillow each.
Wall mounted tv too small so difficult to read text on tv listing.
Special planning in room dubious. Mirror not in useful place.
Hadn’t realised it was a shared bathroom otherwise wouldn’t book.
Hotelier was ironing outside our bedroom door.
Cat cried outside bedroom door.
Very noisy from traffic thundering along the road outside.
Will not be returning.

Needs ensuite facilities but it is early days for them so excellent stay otherwise.very friendly atmosphere and excellent food-well done chef.
Comes complete with VERY friendly cat!!!
