About this house rental
Escape to our peaceful, light-filled, 2-bedroom home on the quiet side of Mount Desert Island. Just a short drive from the iconic vistas and trails of Acadia National Park, this welcoming retreat offers a comfortable stay for up to 4 guests and features hi-speed WiFi, a fully equipped kitchen and numerous amenities within a serene natural setting. Enjoy the adventure of the nearby park and towns, or simply relax in the tranquility of our surroundings. Perfect for a truly memorable getaway.
Welcome to a thoughtfully designed, two-bedroom home nestled into nearly six, quiet acres in the picturesque town of Tremont, Maine. Accommodating up to four guests, it is ideal for families or small groups of friends seeking a peaceful retreat. You'll find everything you need to feel right at home.
The main house is the heart of the home with the kitchen, living room, laundry room, primary bedroom and loft with Smart TV and pull-out couch. The primary bedroom has a queen bed, two closets, and numerous windows with views of the surrounding landscape. The loft, overlooking the living room and accessible by generous carpeted stairs, offers a Smart TV, a big welcoming bean bag for the kids or young at heart, and a pull-out couch with a queen-size, natural latex and organic cotton mattress. The bungalow, formerly an artist’s studio, is located just steps from the main house and has a queen-sized bed in an adorable suite with half bath.
Your group will love spending time in the common areas of our home. The living room is open and inviting, with comfortable seating surrounded by windows and a Bose stereo. Accessible from the living room, you'll find a beautiful deck and yard with views into the Maine woods. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to prepare meals at home, and the dining area with its surrounding windows is perfect for enjoying family meals and games together. Throughout the property, small artistic touches abound, including stained glass windows, custom tile around the entryway, and stone sculptures tucked into the landscape. And on cool mornings and evenings, you’ll enjoy the heated floors in the living room, kitchen and bathroom.
But the real highlight of our home is its location - perfect for those looking for a quiet and relaxing base for exploring the natural beauty, history and culture of the island while avoiding the traffic and crowds of Bar Harbor. We are just a short drive from the stunning Acadia National Park and so much more that the island has to offer, including Thurston’s Lobster Pound (for lobster dinner overlooking a working harbor), the Wonderland and Ship Harbor trailheads (some of our favorite short hikes to ever-changing views along the coast), the ferry to Swan’s Island, the Bass Harbor Head Light Station, the sandy swimming beach at Echo Lake, and the vibrant little town of Southwest Harbor with its shops, galleries and restaurants (don’t miss the bakery!).
When you're ready to relax at home, enjoy a cup of coffee on the deck as you take in the beauty of the Maine forest, curl up with a book in the light-filled living room, set up a puzzle on the card table or a game of croquet in the yard, or help yourself to the array of games, music and books. And when the day is done, watch the sun set over the trees, listen for the owls, and marvel at the star-filled night sky. Acadia National Park and the surrounding area is known to be one of the best spots for stargazing in New England.
So why wait? Book your stay at our unique two-bedroom home on Mount Desert Island, and start planning your unforgettable getaway. We think you’ll love this place as much as we do.
While we welcome families, this home is not child proof / childproofed (e.g., cupboards and cleaning supplies are accessible, sockets are not covered, window blinds are corded) and is best suited for adults or responsible guardians with older children.
We are committed to sourcing eco-friendly products and materials that minimize impacts to our communities and our environment. Among other things, you’ll find organic cotton bedding in the bedrooms, organic cotton bath towels, responsibly sourced bathroom amenities, and couches manufactured with natural materials.
Need to work while travelling? We have strong, high-speed WiFi and a couple different options for locations to set up your work area, including a quiet desk in the bungalow and a dedicated work space in the main house, between the primary bedroom and front hall.

This is a beautiful location. The house was clean and well organized. The host was an excellent communicator. We found it very easy to get from this location to several hikes in Acadia. Would certainly stay here again. Highly recommend!

Absolutely heavenly. Quiet, peaceful. It was well stocked, immaculately clean and comfortable. It was nice to leave the town and return to the peace and tranquility.

Of the properties where my husband and I have stayed on our annual Maine vacations, this one, by far, is our favorite. It had everything that we were looking for and more. Though we did not use the bungalow, this would be very useful for any group of four. The kitchen is well appointed; there is plenty of room for food prep and the dinner table nook is spacious. The property is very clean and the location serenely peaceful. We spotted and watched deer multiple times during our stay and the sky on clear nights was wonderful. The location was ideal for us; we made enjoyable evening trips after eating dinner to hike the Ship’s Harbor trail. Concluding, the host is absolutely wonderful and we hope to be back in the future!

This house was perfect for us! Felt like a cabin in the woods, but had all the amenities we could hope for! Wonderful trip and my husband already wants to go back.

I travel a great deal for work as well as leisure and frequently stay in rentals for these trips. Rarely have I been so very tempted to reach out to the owners to inquire if they'd be willing to sell a particularly property, but this adorable space almost made me want to move to Maine. Both the main house and separate studio were impeccably maintained, stylishly designed, and perfectly appointed with high quality linens and kitchen appliances. So often rental properties reflect their use as commercial investments in a sort of generic 'flavor', but this place felt like the owners (who obviously have marvelous taste in addition to carpentry skills:) had simply stepped out for a bit and were allowing us the great privilege of adopting their space for a short while. I was travelling with my partner, my father, and brother (all of us familiar with carpentry, design, and have managed rental properties of our own) and we were all really impressed with the property. Location was ideally situated on the 'quiet side' of the island with easy access to excellent dining opportunities and hiking trails without being able to see/hear our neighbors. Couldn't have been more pleased with this spot and that's no small feat since I'm a rather particular guest!

We really enjoyed our time here. The outside views are picturesque. The location is not far from Bass Harbor and a lighthouse.
The house is so cozy. The kitchen is fully stocked for cooking. There were a lot of board and card games, so our family played every night. We enjoyed the great selection of CDs with all genres of music. When we needed anything, property management was right on top of it. We were very pleased with our stay.
