About this house rental
Property Characteristics
The guest house is conveniently located about a half mile from the Pebble Beach gate at California Highway 1. It is a three bedroom, two bathroom house with a gas-log fireplace, television in the living room and master bedroom, a completely equipped kitchen with gas stove and a bright dining room looking out at the beautifully landscaped front yard. A backyard patio has an umbrella table seating four, a Weber BBQ and string lights for night use. A well-stocked library provides a retreat for quiet relaxation. An abundance of art decorates the walls in every room. The house is well equipped with Wi-Fi connection, cable and streaming services via Xfinity. USB and electrical plug connections are scattered around the house. Ample parking for three or more cars is available in the driveway.
Central Location
Although tucked away in a quiet neighborhood, Casa Costado is convenient to virtually everything visitors love about the Monterey Peninsula. The house is about one mile from downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea and the same distance from Fisherman’s Wharf and the Monterey Bay Aquarium. The center of Pacific Grove is about two miles away. Major shopping centers – Crossroads and Del Monte – are close by. Carmel Valley Village, with more than a dozen wine tasting venues and an extraordinary motorcycle museum, is only about 10 miles away and Laguna Seca Race track is about 9 miles. The famous Pebble Beach golf courses are minutes away and several other world-class public courses are within 10 to 20 minutes’ drive time.
Wine tasting and Restaurants
The Monterey Peninsula is known for a very wide selection of good to very good restaurants, as well as three Michelin-starred restaurants. Dozens of tasting rooms featuring local wines and olive oils are located in Carmel-by-the-Sea, Carmel Valley Village and other venues scattered around the area. For serious wine enthusiast, winery visits are available at many wineries in the Santa Lucia Highlands and the eastern end of Carmel Valley and the famous wineries of Paso Robles are only a 2-hour drive south.
Sporting Activities
The main sporting activities available in this area are golf, hiking, biking, sailing, scuba diving and ocean kayaking and parasailing. The signature sport of the Monterey Peninsula is golf. More than a dozen golf courses await, among them the famous courses of Pebble Beach including Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill, Poppy Hills and Spanish Bay, all accessible to the public. Many other challenging and scenic courses are also available – Black Horse and Bayonet, Quail Lodge, Del Monte, Laguna Seca, Carmel Valley Ranch, Pasadera and Corral De Tierra are all within about a 20 minute drive from the guest house. Hiking venues are among the best in the US – Garland Ranch and Palo Corona in Carmel Valley and Point Lobos, Garapata and Soberanes, to name a few on the CA 1 drive to Big Sur.
Shopping
Carmel-by-the-Sea is shopping central, specializing in art from both local and international artists, with clothing stores, many specialty stores and dozens of restaurants. Del Monte Center in Monterey features a number of national brand stores as well as a multiplex theater and several restaurants. The Barnyard and Crossroads shopping areas, both at the mouth of Carmel Valley, are about 10 minutes from Casa Costado.
Special Events
As a vacation destination, Monterey is also host to a large number of special events every year. The annual AT&T golf tournament always attracts top players and the US Open is played periodically at the Pebble Beach venues. The Monterey Jazz Festival, the motorcycle Gathering at Quail Lodge and several other festivals take place throughout the year. Important auto and motorcycle races are held throughout the year at Laguna Seca Raceway. The Big Sur Marathon attracts some of the best runners in the world. Possibly the best known event is the Pebble Beach Concourse D ’Elegance and auction. Through the years so many other car events have been added at venues around the Peninsula that locals now speak of “car week,” which features some six or seven important auctions, specialized single-make car shows and the Historic Races at Laguna Seca featuring the beautiful race cars of the post-war era.

Perfect place to stay for our trip the size was great and the kitchen was nice! Pantry staples like sugar and pepper would have been nice so we wouldn’t ab e to buy everything but other than that it was lovely! Comfortable beds and nice water pressure. The house was in a beautiful area made it perfect for walking and it was located on a special scenic drive. (Can cause some hold up at the front gate for entry and exit due to many visitors) but it’s a lovely drive!

Beautiful setting, quiet and serene, cozy. The fireplace was perfect to warm us as the fog rolled over the treetops. A wonderful stay.
