I had a wonderful experience here. I sprung for the special dinner option, which is a Kaiseki style tasting menu. Each dish was served beautifully, and tasted better than it looked. This may be a seasonal offering, but I was asked if I would like to add an extra course of wagyu a week or so before my arrival for an extra charge. Absolutely delicious.
To say nothing about the service would be doing this establishment a disservice. The front desk staff speak solid English, and were very hospitable. They guided me to my room, and helped carry my luggage.
But for me, the highlight of the visit was the cypress bathroom and tub. The smell of the wood fills the room when the bath is ready, and drawing a hot bath is the perfect remedy for the fatigue you accumulate after a day of exploring Kyoto.
I do want to point out some small caveats. First, if you're a taller individual, the ceilings are quite low, so walk carefully. Second, the location is in a residential district in the middle of Kyoto. It's a good escape from the bustle of the city that's somewhat close to transit, but if you're looking for somewhere more remote or more close to the action, this might not be the place.
For the way I scheduled my itinerary, this was the right place to be, and I cannot recommend it more. What a wonderful experience.

Wow! The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The room was cozy and the atrium and the communal areas were immaculate. The bath was 10 out of 10. Loved the smell of the wood and temperature in there. Would highly recommend staying here when visiting Kyoto.

My husband and I had an unforgettable stay at Kyokoyado Muromachi Yutone. The hotel is on a quiet street but only a short walk from the train station, making it a perfect location.
My family and I had an unforgettable stay at Kyokoyado Muromachi YUTONE. The hotel is on a quiet street but only a short walk from the train station, making it a perfect location.
The cleanliness, amenities, and service were outstanding. The food was incredible—the best we had in Japan. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the common lounge with books and refreshments was a nice touch.
The staff were extremely polite and attentive. Their hospitality made our stay very special. We loved the complimentary matcha service and the massage cushion in the library lounge.
Overall, it’s the nicest hotel we’ve ever stayed at. We’ll definitely consider staying here again. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay so memorable.

This is a beautiful property on a quiet street away from the bustle of Kyoto but only about a 5-7 minute walk from the train station.
The chef and dining staff are amazing - the best food we had during our stay in Japan (and we ate amazing food everywhere we went).
Our room was clean, decorated well, and comfortable. It was expectedly small, but the common lounge room with books, games, and refreshments made it easy to relax nonetheless. The staff were kind and hospitable, although we had to get used to the idea of feeling like they were hovering a bit and leaving our key with them when we went out. I chalk that up to a cultural difference and see it as something that enriched our stay rather than an inconvenience.
Would definitely consider staying here again!

Wow, I felt teleported into a different era of hospitality where everything was best in class. This stay was amazing. Muromachi Yutone felt like being welcomed into someone's home. Lots of thoughtful details, definitely indulge once in the breakfast. Just writing this brings back a sense of peace and gratitude for our stay.

The hosts were charming and welcoming. However it’s not what I expected of a ryokan. I was thinking zen experience but the space was cluttered with guest amenities to the point there was little apace to put things. I would not recommend the first floor room towards the back. It had little natural light and felt like a basement. The facility needs updating. It feels a bit tired. The food was good but not memorable. Overall it was a disappointment. I hate to write this kind of review because the staff was so kind but other travelers should know. I wish I had.

A truly hidden gem in Kyoto; for those who want to experience a traditional Ryokan.
Words cannot describe how exceptional the service was provided. The staff caters to each guest like close friends and family. Furthermore, the food served was delicious. The dishes seem so simple, yet so elegant and fresh.
Ultimately, the moment experienced was fantastic. My only regret was not staying longer.

We enjoyed the Japanese tradition of the property. The room had a wonderful soaking tub which was a relaxing relief to the heat in Kyoto. The staff was very friendly and was helpful with my questions and requests. I would definitely recommend this inn.
