The adorable cottage and delightful, whimsical garden grounds had everything we needed for a romantic and inspiring stay. Host Ira was warm and gracious. Our favorite spot. Wish we could have stayed longer. Perfect retreat gave us easy access to Volcano National Park.

This is a tiny cabin in an artist village right outside of Volcanoes National Park. The cabin is adorable, and the host really did think of everything! I can't believe I found this gem on hotels.com! Very different from what I would expect on hotels.com, but we were so thrilled with this stay. The cabin is cozy and intimate, and it was such a special stay in a unique and special place.

The attention to detail and location are amazing. Listening to Coqui frogs in the night is an incredible experience, it's truly living in the rain forest!

The cottage is in Volcano which is a rainforest climate. It rains, a lot, so if you are not interested in a bit of water then this area is not for you. With that said it was a lovely cottage. Very homey. Ira does a great job making sure you have everything you need during your stay. The bathroom is spacious for such a small place and I'm a little sad we didn't get to try the hot tub. Noble the pet rabbit is friendly in his little hutch on the property.

Tucked in amongst the trees, with birds singing and cooling breezes blowing, this Volcano Village bed & breakfast is a hidden gem. Just across the highway from the famous Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, the Volcano Artist Cottage is close to everything in Volcano Village AND the National Park, but so tucked away & private, you'd never know it. In fact, it's a historic building, on the grounds of a working restaurant & art retail store, but yet, it's so private, you'd never notice. Add in a delicious jacuzzi, and a relaxing time-out from life's responsibilities is yours for the asking. Enjoy, I know I did!

This adorable cottage was a true find. If you are looking to be waited on or for a resort atmosphere, this is not for you, but for us, it was perfect. It is among the Artists Village gardens which is very Zen. Just enough space for two who like to be close. The shower area is wonderful and we are trying to figure a way to do that in our own home. There is a kitchenette with microwave, mini fridge, toaster and coffee maker, and for breakfast we were left fresh fruits, yogurts, granola and a delish mini loaf of banana bread. The owner has provided many small thoughtful amenities like spices/teas/coffee/oil, robes/slippers, CD player, small grill, WiFi, umbrellas and even flashlights and binoculars. We got there during a heavy rain storm & the small space heater was just enough to warm us up and feel comfy cozy. I admit that they need to replace the mattress as it was not overly comfortable but everything else was so suited to us, it was a minor issue. The hot tub (and I mean HOT) was so nice to have, especially after biking/hiking to see the Lava Flows. Note: the tub cover is old and heavy! I did not eat at the cafe which is right next door but did enjoy wandering thru the many small rooms of the gallery admiring all the interesting items for sale. As a guest, we rec'd 10% off which I happily accepted when I purchased a cool stone pendant as a souvenir. We did get to meet the owner, Ira, shortly before we had to leave and he is delightful. Someday we hope we can return.

The owner and staff could not have been more welcoming and gracious. Be sure to see their website for information about registering, as well as the art gallery and cafe on site. Don’t miss the gallery!

We really enjoyed our stay. The staff was very friendly and it was a nice place to stay away from all the tourist and only a short drive to Volcano National Park.

The cottage is a rustic and cozy cabin situated in a very unique and artistic garden. The grounds, gallery and cottage itself are lessons in Feng Shui, the staff are extremely friendly and inviting, and the air is cool, crisp, and quiet. Definitely recommend this place for those who are not looking for high-end accommodations but a peaceful Zen-like experience.

My husband and I celebrated our 40th Anniversary here. We found it to be perfect!! The gardens were superb with hidden treasures at every turn. We were looking for an escape, and we found it. The sounds of the birds, the luxiourious bathroom, the kitchen window overlooking nature.....every part was awesome. The restaurant offered fresh, wonderful soups and salads. The fridge was stocked with exactly want we needed for our stay for breakfasts. All this and Volcanoes National Park a mile away. Our only regret.....we didn.t stay longer.

Cottage was cute and attractive. Downside mildew and damp feel. Breakfast is an afterthought set of items left in the cottage.

Very small cottage that suffers from too much moisture. There is nobody to greet you or make you feel welcome. It is very dark going into the cottage at night. The only redeeming quality is the hot tub.
4.2
Small but well appointed unit in gorgeous garden setting. Fantastic sheltered private hot tub. Thoughtful welcome note and chocolates from the owner. However, structure is more like a fancy shed than a cottage. There is a significant moisture problem in a very wet environment. A dehumidifier ran the entire time (pulling more than 30 pints of water every 6 hours) with visible mold in some areas and a musty smell overall.
