Location was great, just off the Main Street. Facilities were simple but sufficient and the house was beautiful and well preserved. Host is really helpful, she doesn’t speak English but is patient when you need help (use google translate!)
Nothing. For the price I paid, I felt it was rly worth it

The rustic house was thick with refreshing wood scent, the wooden flooring so cosy on foot. I stayed here four nights, as to fulfill my desire trekking the entire loop between Magome to Tsumago. It was easy commute from Iwamura to Nakatsugawa, the main point that connected with Magome in 35 min bus ride.
Unexpectedly, my stay here evolved to something impressive beyond my trekking goals. The Iwamura old town streets, the foggy mountains ringing the town, the neighbourhood in warm hello and smiles, landmark sake brewery tasting, chestnut desserts, izakaya meals, Green Herbs Italian cuisine, Iwamura castle ruins walk, etc.....and the most jovial host Toki-san who exudes great charm in conversation despite our language barriers. She could speak basic english and strive to learn too. She has such feverish enthusiasm to engage with guests, make them feel living in homely house, and go beyond extra miles to help.
I want to dedicate my greatest gratitude for Toki-san kindness bringing me to train station on rainy day. I want to say a big thanks again and again for the superb snacks only from Iwamura town. Such a tranquil and sacred town, as the hearts of the local folks. Million thanks for creating HAPPY moments for me to remember forever, for joyful reason. Thank you!
Nothing.

Die Wände sind wirklich extrem dünn, wie in traditionellen japanischen Häusern üblich. Und als wir da waren, haben einige Gäste erst um Mitternacht eingecheckt und dementsprechend war es recht laut.

The host is amazing, I loved her and we shared some very precious moments !
The accommodation is clean, cute and comfy.

The location and facilities were excellent. With a traditional exterior and modern interior, this was a very pleasant and enjoyable stay. The showers were great and the kitchen was well equipped. The guesthouse was in close walking distance to a shopping district, as well as a few restaurants in the area. The host was very kind and considerate, and had some good recommendations.
The walls are quite thin, so unfortunately if you have loud neighbours staying in the guesthouse too, you may have some discomfort sleeping.

the house is very beautiful, calm and clean for short stays.
the walls are quite thin so the sound proofing is not that good.

Stay here if in the neighbourhood, such a lovely guesthouse run by an awesome host. Kind genuine sweet owners who keep it super clean & comfortable. In a traditional village beautifully historic and preserved.
Close to the walk to the castle ruins on the hill.

I liked it when I saw it online! And even the outside part is amazing. Still no one opened the door, or answer my messages.
this place is accessible, but by a sequence of a lot of trains and transports. I arrived in the afternoon and stood at the door for two hours. asked for help to the neighbours and they tried to make some calls to help me without resolution! There were no more accommodations near by, so I had to go back all the way, facing the risk of not finding a place to spend the night. Till today I had no answer or justification about what happen. If you choose this place make sure they answer you before you get there.

Very clean and comfortable guesthouse. The host is a lovely lady who made us very welcome at the place. We have very good memories from there.
Nothing was bad there.

Kitchen had everything you need and although the shower was in an outside block, the toilets and shower were more than nice. The overall feel and look of the place was very homely traditional and comfoting. The host was extrememly kind and attentive, we had a lovely chat via Google translate and she even gifted me a bag of oranges, which became very useful over the next few days.
Nothing! The town was very quiet and many restaurants were closed, but this was due to it being New Year.

I liked how the place accurately fit what I saw in the photos. It was very clean and the staff was very hospitable and accommodating (they even shared a red bean mochi snack with me). There weren't many people staying there (maybe about 3 including me), but they were also welcoming and respectful.
I stayed there at the end of September, so the weather was still very nice and warm. However, I'm not sure I would stay there during the winter because you have to go outside of the place to access the shower room.

Really an excellent old-school property yet with modern facilities and fantastic service. Close to a friendly pub and various dining options. The proprietor's suggestions saved us a nice chunk of money too.

The guesthouse is made from Hinoki, which gives the rooms the unique wooden smell. The manager is extremely nice and will help you where ever possible. The house is situated in an old style street and many cafes and craftsmanship stores can be found.
I can recommend everybody who wants to experience life in an old castle town to book a night!

An amazing guesthouse in the middle of the historic town. While the guesthouse itself is in a beautiful old style building, the inside is very well maintained and caters all needs. I would go there again, when I visit the area.
