The location was central and generally close to transit.
The picturea were accurate but definitely filtered. The male showers were in awful shape and in desperate need of repair. Many drunken 20 something tourist with european and australian accents. Many drunk women acting like fools.

Staff was great, bathrooms were always super clean! Room was as booked.
It’s SO loud. Why do they even have beds? There is no chance you’ll sleep here. I know they want to lean into the party thing but giving people hearing loss and charging them to lie awake on a piece of foam is not cool anymore. The music literally shakes the rooms and your nervous system and the floors and doors are so squeaky they’ll wake you at the crack of dawn when the music finally turns off. I thought it was just Fridays, nope. I’ve stayed here plenty and I never will again. I’m exhausted and I hate it here.

Cheap
Cat is permanently trapped inside and they don't like to party there.

Accessibility and great price. Cleaners constantly in and out of the kitchen and bathroom, women's washrooms are locked for extra security. Oreo was pretty chill too.
A little loud above the bar, but that's to be expected with the party hostels. The washrooms on the 1st floor are tiny too, not much breathing space between shower and toilet.

Great location and nice bar at the hostel to meet people. Huge rooms.
The hostel is really, really old. The beds are loud, and if you have the upper bed, you feel every moment of the person below you. The bathrooms are super tiny, there is not even room to get changed, and they are quite dirty. There is a cat in the hostel?? It came multiple times into our room during the night, through the window, which was everything else, then nice. The cat went in my friends bed and she had to kick her out. The bar downstairs is nice to meet people, but it is so loud that our bed is vibrating because of the music. Overall, it's a really old hostel, which definitely needs renovation.

In the heart of Gastown - short walk to lots of nice restaurants and to public transport (eg, 10 mins to train station). There's also a nice bar attached to the hostel (The Cambie Bar & Grill), which has cheap beers all day and great happy hour deals for food. If you stay at the hostel, each person gets a 20% discount voucher which can be used daily between 11am-3pm.
The bunk rooms are fairly tight, and there wasn't enough space to fit suitcases in the lockers (we had to move the bed forward so we could squeeze the suitcases in between the bed and the wall). As usual for hostels, they don't include a lock for the locker (so BYO). The bathrooms are far from amazing - the the shower cubicles are very small, and there is no space to hang your clothes or towel (so you end up having to either put them on the wet floor outside, or hang them over the door of the toilet cubicles which are opposite the showers. Also, on multiple occasions, all of the toilet cubicles were out of toilet paper, despite me regularly seeing cleaners around (which was a bit odd). Both the kitchen and common areas were very small for the number of people which the hostel accommodates (there were only 5 tables). I would recommend cooking outside of "peak" times. Also, if you are planning on cooking, the local supermarkets are quite pricey, so consider looking further out from the city for groceries if you're able to.

it was very clean, had some nice restaurants around and a bar downstairs.
There were several different keys which made it a bit annoying sometimes and the street it was on wasn't the safest.

Location and price
No guarantee access to the pub down the stairs, so bear this in mind when booking.
Also stay away from room 112 right above the speaker stack and the entrance or The Cambie Bar down below, also the communal common room and kitchen and are just through the wall, so people are cooking at all times in the morning with zero regard about the amount of noise they make…

economical in a great neighbourhood
I’ve stayed at hostels before but here, the room was tiny and not that clean. the music from the bar downstairs is too loud and goes on till 2 AM at least. Not very ideal

i unfortunately stayed her for 4 nights. Windows were covered in pigeon dirt. The outside area of the window was covered in bird dirt. The mattress bed was disgusting-semen stains. I only realised this when i stripped the bed prior to leaving. Pub below played band music until late on. I complained to management about pigeon dirt-they are aware of this problem. I had to change in toilet area to take a shower. 2 guys who were hoping to stay left after i suggested that they go up and have a look at shower-toilet area. Staff were helpful during my stay. This hostel is used by people working in vancouver due to its price. If i knew how bad the hostel would be via booking .com comments I would not have stayed. Younger people are not really it seemed about what i saw. Thats fine but do realise that vancouver city is very expensive and like USA has people with mental illness and are sleeping in tents -middle of streets. Expect to be asked for money on a regular basis-same as USA. Disgraceful for both countries and their inherent wealth.
