About this apartment rental
Here is something a bit different in South Goa. Our first floor apartment is in a private house in a quiet residential area of Benaulim overlooking a superb view of paddy fields and palm plantations. It is ideal for those who do not want the usual busy holiday complex with pool and so it is perhaps more suited to the maturer visitor... but of course families with children are more than welcome. It is 5 minutes by tuk-tuk (10 minutes by bicycle) from the fabulous Benaulim beach which is itself in the centre of the 13 mile long 'Queen of Beaches'.
There are many excellent beach restaurants at Benaulim beach with every kind of food available at extremely good prices. In Benaulim itself there are also a number of excellent well-priced restaurants.
The apartment is beautifully furnished with fans in every room and A/C and European style sprung mattresses in both bedrooms. The main bedroom has a King size double bed and the second bedroom has two single beds. There is also a camp bed available with bedding for a possible fifth visitor. We use this spacious apartment ourselves as a home from home for 2 months of the year and so all mod cons are there. Included in these are access to Wifi, a washing machine, drying rack, all towels and linen, hob, microwave, large fridge/freezer, Sky TV, DVD player, large free-standing fan, iron and ironing board etc.
One of the most attractive features of the property is the full property length balcony accessed either from the main bedroom, the kitchen or the living room via big French windows. The second bedroom has its own private balcony and there is also a front terrace. From the main balcony there is a superb peaceful 180 degree view from which one can watch the amazing birdlife, water buffalo etc.
On the very sunny roof terrace we have two quality cushioned sunbeds and umbrellas. Also included in the overall price is collection from Dabolim airport (or a Rs1500 contribution towards collection from Mopa airport in North Goa), use of an Indian pay-as-you-go mobile phone (for cheap calls to arrange a Tuk-Tuk) and a welcome pack of basic food, water and beer in the fridge to get you started.
The property's owner, Sandra, a lovely lady and her son live on the ground floor and are available to assist at any time if necessary. For a two week stay or more, cleaning and mopping through is available at a nominal extra cost by arrangement through Sandra downstairs.
If you are not familiar with Goa, Benaulim is situated centrally in what we feel is the best (for many reasons) part of South Goa which is itself far nicer than the North which is very much more commercialised and more expensive for everything... so if you do fancy Goa then you genuinely could not do much better. It is about 30 minutes from the airport. PLEASE NOTE: COLLECTION FROM DABOLIM AIRPORT IS AVAILABLE FREE OF CHARGE IF WANTED (OR A Rs 1500 CONTRIBUTION TOWARDS YOUR COLLECTION FROM MOPA AIRPORT IN THE NORTH OF GOA).
Margao, the main city of South Goa, is 15 minutes away by tuk-tuk if you need something that is not available locally and/or want to experience the delightful chaos of an Indian city! It is well worth a visit.
From the UK, Goa itself can be accessed by daily scheduled flights from Heathrow via Mumbai. Also Air India direct flights from Gatwick to Mopa are available. Direct charter flights into Goa are also possible between the beginning of November to mid April from Manchester and Gatwick. Please note that for charter flights you had best get seats booked early as there are only a limited number of flights per week and they tend to get booked up fairly quickly with regular ‘Goa Goers’.
So if you fancy an apartment in South Goa different from those usually being offered you will not go wrong with ours.

We had a wonderful holiday and really enjoyed our stay at your apartment. A wonderful home from home in a lovely quiet area of Benaulim. The apartment was exactly as described. You provided so much invaluable information prior to our arrival which made our stay so enjoyable.
Franco was always on hand to provide our transport whenever we needed him. We would definitely recommend this apartment.

From the moment we met Sandra and her brother Ivan we were made to feel so welcome. They showed us round the place and explained everything to us. The highlight for us was the view from the balcony and looking out over the water meadows. We viewed many kingfishers and numerous other birds, also the water buffalo. Spent many a morning watching the sunrise aswell.
We loved being in the residential area and saying hello to our neighbours as we walked out each day. 15 minutes walk to the town or 25 minutes to the beach and many tuk tuks available if we needed. The beach was beautiful and clean with fine golden sand, our favourite beach was Sernabatim with the lovely beach taverna White Crab. Evenings were fun, either spent in the town or on the beaches.
We had the most wonderful stay and it was lovely getting to know Sandra and her son, certainly made the perfect holiday for us. A big thankyou!

Very Enjoyable & Peaceful Place to Stay
From the ease of booking (prompt communications from Nigel & Teresa), organised collection from Goa airport (included in price) and being met by Sandra and William, who both ensured our stay at the apartment was enjoyable and hassle free, we had such a fantastic time. The apartment is roomy with various verandas for sitting in or out of the sun as your mood takes you, plus the roof terrace for when you want to have a quiet day away from the beach.
We found everything we needed was in the apartment and just a short walk to fruit/vegetable/fish vendors and local supermarkets. Being in a residential area, you can appreciate the Portuguese architectural influence and its great to say hello/good morning, etc to the locals.
It took about 20 minutes to walk to the beach, which we enjoyed doing as compensation to all the lovely food we were consuming!! Lots and lots of places to eat and drink, covering numerous cuisines, what’s not to like.... and if your feeling lazy, a tuk tuk was only a phone call away.
Having stayed at this apartment before, we quickly re-established our morning routine of getting fresh bread rolls from the bicycling baker delivery boy and having breakfast on the rear veranda watching the sun rise in the sky, looking over the wet land complete with bird life and cows & water buffalo.
Just Bliss.

Excellent Stay
We were picked up by Franco at the airport as arranged by Nigel & Teresa. On arrival at the property we were met by Sandra who showed us around the apartment. Being tired from a very long journey we went straight to bed. I woke just before dawn & went to the rear balcony. The view there is stunning & we never tired of watching the wildlife from there.
The apartment is very spacious with 2 bedrooms, 1 ensuite, a large living room with t.v. & dvd player with plenty of choice of movies. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you could want, The bedrooms have air con but we rarely used it, maybe 10-15 minutes before bed. There is another balcony at the front of the building with table and chairs but we only used the rear one due to aforementioned views. There is also a rooftop balcony with sunbeds & umbrellas which we rarely used as it was very hot.
Sandra is a lovely lady who was there for all our needs without being intrusive as was William her son. Nigel & Teresa were in contact during our stay to make sure things were all good.
The apartment is in a quiet residential area about 15 mins walk to the centre of Benaulim and a couple of supermarkets just across the football field. Colva is a little further away, walkable or just a short tuk-tuk/bus ride away. Due to my wife waiting for a knee replacement we were using Franco each day, he too was great for suggesting restaurants/days out.
All in all a very enjoyable stay which was a last minute booking & we were very lucky it was available and would not hesitate to book again if going to Benaulim

Everything we could have wished for and more
If you like peace and quiet, great views, spacious well kept interior and exterior, choice of sun or shade and you don't mind a walk to the beach, restaurants and shops this place is for you. Nigel arranged for us to be met at the airport by Franco, who we then used for all our running around. Sandra was waiting for us on arrival, even though it was the early hours of the morning with a lovely smile and that set the scene. Nothing was too much trouble and when we had any questions either William or Sandra were there to help us, they were outstanding.
You can take a short cut across the football ground to a supermarket for your basic needs and lovely samosas, a good take away nearby and a 30 minute walk to Sernabatim beach. This was our favourite beach and Anthy's beach shack provided splendid food and a peaceful atmosphere plus clean toilets, which was important to us.
Nigel and Teresa have thought of everything to give you a wonderful holiday, including an Indian phone for using to ring Franco or for a take away and then plenty of plug adaptors for UK plugs..that's what I call service. There is also a Supermarket along past the tuktuk stand in centre of Benaulim which sells booze and Steven there will deliver, great if you like to sit on a balcony sipping cold beer or your favourite tipple. A big plus was to have Sandra and William on hand. Sandra even made us a splendid Indian meal on Boxing Day, what more can I say except thank you.
Probably the highest accolade I can give is that we have booked again for next year and we can't wait to go back.

Well equipped , with excellent assistance from Sandra downstairs
We were met at the airport by Franco . We used him for all our transport needs throughout our month long stay . The apartment is very well equipped , furnished and maintained . Excellent for bird watching . In a typically Goan enclave of well maintained local houses . Approximately equidiance between Benaulim and Colva . Very relaxing .

Great apartment, great views
What a lovely apartment with lots of space to feel at home. The outlook and view from the back were so peaceful and truly wonderful. This is as described, a quiet location and even the view at the front was good even though it was another house but the abundance of trees made it very picturesque.
The hosts in Benaulim, who live on the ground floor, could not have been more helpful and friendly. Sandra and William are just lovely people and were always available and helped us out on several occasions, ordering takeout being one such occasion!
Everything worked well except of course when there were power cuts and as we were there at the very end of the rainy season, there were some spectacular storms! Wifi is available and by arrangement with the hosts plus it's inexpensive.
This was a first visit and we were very happy with the apartment, having seen some with not so much space or amenities, however it was not that close to the beach. This is not a problem as it is a short rickshaw drive of a few minutes or quite a long walk (we found it too hot to walk).
We found all the information provided by Nigel and Teresa absolutely fantastic and they have spent a long time putting all this together. The helpful hints and advice were invaluable as was the recommended driver, Franco, who was a mine of information and local knowledge. We used him all the time and he was always available and very punctual.
This apartment is very peaceful and if you want somewhere with space and great views especially out of season then you should try this. You will have the beaches to yourself and unlike the North of Goa, it is still very unspoilt and natural, so going slightly off season is really worth trying.

A quiet, relaxing haven
The apartment is nicely and quietly situated about 10 minutes walk from the centre of Benaulim, with all its noise, colour and crazy drivers. From the amount of information provided by Nigel and Teresa following our booking, and their obvious concern for us to have a great experience, our expectations were high. We were not disappointed. The apartment is charming, well maintained and thoroughly kitted out. There are three verandas and we tended to use the one at the back - misty sunrises and balmy evenings, lovely. We took full advantage of the recommendations of trips to markets, spice plantations, boat trips etc . The boat trip up the Sal river, organised by Franco, was particularly good and great value. Although usually, very active when on holiday, by the end of this one we were totally seduced by Benaulim and its beaches and beach huts. Soft sand, a warm sea, friendly service of good food and drink whilst watching the sun go down. What's not to like. Many thanks to Sandra, William, Franco, and Nigel and Teresa.

A recommandé.

Brilliant
We received a lovely welcome (even though it was the middle of the night) from Sandra. The apartment had everything we needed and was blissfully peaceful. A 20 minute walk or 10 minutes in a tuk tuk, we were at the beautiful Benuilim beach, clean with plenty of choice of beach shacks.
Sandra and William were on hand to answer questions and offer advice (although we were well prepared by Nigel and Teresa, who made the whole organising our holiday a breeze).
Many Thanks to all of them.
Best bit for us was sitting on the kitchen/sitting room balcony, just after sunrise, enjoying our breakfast, contemplating the day ahead whilst gazing over the wetland area, watching the wildlife.

Great stay
Had a wonderful stay at the property. It does everything that it says.
The house is well kitted out with everything you need, first aid kit, sowing kit, nicknacks like sun cream, after sun, insect repellands etc......
The house is located about a 10 minute walk from the town and, tuc tucs are available to take you around (although we did hire a scooter). Keep an ear out (old fashioned toot toot horn) for the bread delivery lad on his bike at about 0730 ish each morning, you will need to go out and flag him down.
There is WI-FI available at the house, you need to pay William downstairs for its use as it’s his data you will be using but it’s very cheap.
For eating, the hideaway we found was the best but, there are loads of others, you will be spoilt for choice. You must try the fast food stall next to Marie hall which sets up at about 1700 onwards. If you fancy a local Indian breakfast, try the masala dosas at the cafeteria at Marie hall, next to atm machines, good fruit and veg stalls there as well.
Sandra and William downstairs have also been a great help, Sandra made us a delicious lunch the day before we left and, she also knocked us up an omelette breakfast.
On a final note.......you are going to love this place :)

We had a lovely time at the villa which was perfect in every way.Nigel communicated everything beforehand and Sandra was there whenever we needed assistant. Beautiful Apartment in a perfect location
The apartment, on the upper level of a Portuguese style house, was as lovely as the photographs you see on the website, with a stunning view from the back balcony of water buffalo and birds. It was well appointed and had some little extras like a welcome of cool beer, bread and milk when we arrived. The helpful hints from Nigel and Teresa before we came were supplemented by Sandra (who lived downstairs) allowing us to find out about fresh bread delivered every morning and the local shops. Benaulium centre (Maria Hall) has all of the things you need and the beach shacks offer tasty and fresh food all day. We even went for a drink on Christmas day. Great location in a quiet place, use of the bikes helped get us to the beach in 10 mins. We stayed for 16 nights would defintely reccommend to our friends and family. Thank you for letting us stay in your lovely holiday home. Kathryn & Mick

Beautiful first floor apartment with stunning views
Nigel and Teresa provided us with extensive information regarding the apartment and the local area and were extremely helpful before we set off. We arrived in the early hours and was met by Sandra, the very lovely lady who lives downstairs. On waking the next day we were extremely delighted with the cleanliness of the apartment as well as space. It had everything you could want, including a washing machine! We opened up the doors onto the balcony to be met by the stunning sights and sounds of birds and buffalo. It is set on a quiet street away from the hustle of the main roads and is a lovely place to relax and take it all in. Sandra was on hand all the time for any problems and advice as was Franco with his tuk tuk, who was there at the drop of a hat to pick you up and take you wherever you wanted to go (bang on time everytime)! We loved walking to the beach along the busy streets, taking in the colourful local life and enjoying stopping off at Dinah's for a cool beer before heading on down to the wonderful beach. There are many shacks to chose from and we spent a lot of time at Rex's place where we met some lovely people and ate the lovely food freshly prepared by Mathew. We also ate at Joncy's, who serve fabulous food. Sunsets were amazing and overall we had a fantastic holiday and will definately be back and would recommend this beautiful apartment to stay in.

Perfect flat for families
We had a fantastic time in Goa staying at this wonderful apartment. We appreciated all the help from Sandra and the driving by Franco and his brother. The kids loved the rickshaw rides especially and the beautiful beaches. The flat was perfect for us (family of four with two little kids) with spacious master bedroom with A/C and twin bedroom for kids, washing machine and comfortable living room. We already miss watching the water buffalo and listening to the birds in the morning on the balcony. It was a great location between Colva and Benaulim beaches. With the added benefit of Sandra's considerable help and attention, groceries when we arrived. She and Franco were invaluable for us. Having 2 little kids, we were particularly pleased with having a comfortable home to return to after a long day at the beach or a long car trip to the sights (temples, churches, spice plantation). The little things really made a huge difference-- whether it was the cell phone to ring Franco for a ride, the bike (with a nice basket) or all the pamphlets with things to do in the area. Plus it was so nice to interact with locals on a daily basis and not feel like we were in a bubble!

A wonderfully appointed apartment in a very pleasant location.
My friends & I thoroughly enjoyed our week long stay, and wished it had been longer. The apartment's numerous terraces mean you can always sit in either sun or shade. The rear terrace overlooking the paddy field is particularly pleasant on an evening with a nightly display of Egrets, Storks, Eagles, Kites & Water Buffalo. Sandra & her son William, who live directly below are delightful people & very helpful. The neighbourhood has a few noisy dogs, but the same can be said for most of Goa!
Several beaches are within easy reach, our favourite was the quieter Sernabatim (may have spelt that wrong??) beach.

'Super Goan Apartment'
Lovely first floor apartment with air conditioning! Very clean and well equipped with wonderful views onto paddy fields with many birds including the beautiful kingfisher! Great terrace to chill out on and a further roof terrace for private sunbathing. TV and DVD player. Nice and quiet but only a mile away from glorious golden sandy beaches, all of which can be easily accessed using the cheap local tuk-tuks. There are several good and welcoming beach shacks serving wonderful and cheap local food, Blue Corner being one of the best! There are also some very good restaurants in Benaulim village itself which are nice to frequent in the evening, after a long day on the beach! A very colourful local life, and a interesting wider area to explore!
I have already been several times and am looking forward to returning again in December!
I would highly recommend it to anyone!

Benaulim my second home.
My next visit will be my 8th to Benaulim one day I hope to spend the winters there, I never tire of this beautiful part of the globe.
Teresa's and Nigel's apartment is lovely, close to all amenities and the beach, yet far enough away to be peaceful, set amongst old colonial houses, the views from the back of the property are stunning, overlooking marshland, rice fields and greenery, hours can pass by watching the water buffalo, kingfishers and wildlife, the large verandah is the perfect place to start and end the day, sometimes it's hard to move!
Benaulim is a village in southern Goa set behind 17k of beach, it is a riot of colour, activity and untouched beauty, the beach has many and varied shacks all offering wonderful dishes at ridiculously cheap prices, also the village has some fine restaurants. Of all the shacks Blue corner is my favourite, over the years the owner Raj his sister Shila and all the staff have become good friends, this year I will once again be spending 3 weeks with them all.
Walking for miles along the beach is a must do, as is getting up early at least once to watch and help the fishermen drag the nets in while they chant.
Discovering the rest of Goa is easy and cheap, scooters for local bombing about on and taxis for longer trips, both are very cheap and the driver is yours for the day.
To sum up Teresa and Nigel's Goan home, it's a hidden treasure and is rapidly becoming my second home, one of which I will never tire.

Goa in November 2014
Cris and Gary Moore
This is the third time we have stayed at this apartment and the experience is one of absolute relaxation and comfort. The apartment is really top drawer with all the facilities of home available. It is very spacious, comfortable and is equipped with air conditioning.
The apartment is the complete upper floor of a large house that is established within its own walled gardens. There is a further sun terrace on the roof area, which all together provides substantial, peaceful holiday accommodation that boasts wonderful views across the wetlands where an abundance of wildlife can be watched in the early evening light as you relax with a nice cold drink at the end of your day.
The short trip to the beach is easily completed either on foot, or with the services of Franco the taxi driver, who will be at your service with a phone call or by arranging with him your pick up times. He is very reliable and very friendly, a define asset as he will assist in arranging for day trips out to the Spice farm, Panjim city, the Dudhsagar falls, night markets and fishing boat trips as required. He will also take you to other areas of Goa such as the north beaches of Candolim etc. You can negotiate the price for these excursions and we can attest they are not expensive at all.
Booking the apartment is very easy done and there are no surprises or problems to be found. Franco is at hand waiting for you at the airport to take you to the apartment and this makes the hustle and bustle of the airport arrivals area very easy to cope with. We are looking forward to visiting again soon and would have no hesitation at recommending this apartment in Benaulim, as a very special holiday destination in Goa.

Lovely apartment with free pick up from airport
I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends and family. The apartment is clean and tidy and includes many extras and personal touches such as essentials (including beer!) in the fridge on arrival. The free pick-up from the airport is a huge bonus and makes the transition much easier as the airport is very crowded and can be confusing, with lots of people offering to carry your luggage for you and then wanting a fiver for the privilege – even though it is only a few meters to the carpark. Our driver met us at arrivals and led us easily thought this crowd to the waiting car.
The apartment has 2 bedrooms with air conditioning (1 double and 1 twin), 2 bathrooms, 2 balconies and a sunny roof terrace. There is a washing machine and the kitchen has full mod-cons, the TV has sky and there are many DVD’s to watch and books to read. The apartment is managed by a lovely lady called Sandra who lives downstairs and is happy to assist with anything you might need.
It is in a quiet residential street - away from other tourists, with beautiful countryside views yet only 5mins by tut-tut from Benaulim town centre and the beach! You could easily walk it or use the 2 bicycles provided, but as the tut-tut was so cheap and the driver, Franko, so friendly we arranged all of our trips through him on the local mobile phone provided with the apartment.
Goa is an amazing holiday destination and the beach at Benaulim is just gorgeous and I spent most of my time there – my favourite beach shacks were Blue Corner with the entertaining Del-Boy with his cockney accent, and The Mahal which had better prices and just as friendly service – but without the cockney accent! I would recommend the early morning (8.30ish) dolphin spotting trips, and visits to Dudhsagar waterfall and nature reserve, Anjuna market in the north for bargains galore (Wednesday’s only), the historic houses, and the spice plantation tour where you can feed/wash/ride an elephant! All arranged through Franko who also has access to an air-conditioned car for longer journeys. There are plenty of notes and guides to local attractions left by the owners to help you make the most of your stay.
We went at Christmas which is just as popular in this catholic part of India as it is here. It was lovely to see all the ‘cribs’ (Nativity scenes on a grand scale) by the roadside made by local groups unveiled on Christmas Eve. We had curry on the beach for Christmas Dinner :-)
