About this cottage rental

Unwind by the open fireplace at this retro-styled Victorian terrace property in the heart of the medieval town of Sandwich. With a modern twist on traditional this cottage has a timeless & hip look. And it's on such a picturesque quiet street too. A1580s coaching inn is just around the corner. Sandwich really is a delight with its timber-framed houses leaning over narrow streets at jaunty angles.

Sleeping four in two bedrooms, the accommodation is perfect for families, couples and small groups of friends. Dogs are very welcome.
Kick start your morning with a fresh coffee enjoyed in the flint walled courtyard garden, then take a guided tour of the most complete medieval town in England discovering hidden gems and then head to the quay for delicious fish & chips

The cosy living room with open fireplace has a Made sofa and two Annabelle chairs. The dining room offers a larger space to eat, play board games or to read the Sunday papers. A galley style high gloss white kitchen has been fitted with hob, oven, dishwasher and washing machine.

When it's time for bed, there is a king size bed in the master bedroom and at the back of the house there is a cosy twin. From the back bedroom there is an incredible aspect looking out over Sandwich's characterful homes! There is a good size family bathroom with bath and shower enclosure on the second floor.

A sunny courtyard garden has outdoor seating with a bistro table set. Help yourself to fresh sage from the flower beds.

For families there is a travel cot, high chair booster seat style, plastic beakers, plates, cutlery, a choice of children's DVDs, toys and games suitable for the under 7s.

Top recommendations: Pop into the George and Dragon, an inn originally built in the 24th year of the 1st reign of Henry VI in 1446 for a local ale or walk across the sand dunes of the Royal St. George's golf club (host to the Open Championship) course to reach the 8 mile long shingle beaches of Sandwich Bay and Deal. At low tide, much of the foreshore here is sand which is ideal for young children to play or walking your dog. Sandwich Bay can also be reached by bike - a 10-minute flat cycle away or a 5 minute drive along a toll road. Explore the remains of a Roman Fort that can be reached by river bus on the River Stour or head out to the estuary seal spotting. The UNESCO site of Canterbury is a short 20-minute drive away and the award winning sandy beaches of Broadstairs, Ramsgate and Margate are also close by. These beaches have more blue flags than anywhere else in the country. Botany Bay is a photographers delight with its chalk stalks and Joss Bay a firm favourite with the surfers.

From Sandwich Bay you can walk all the way to Deal Beach on a pretty coastline path that leads past two Championship golf courses (40 minutes) and if you have the energy, on to Walmer and Kingsdown Beach with the welcoming Zetland Arms. St. Margaret's Bay is a twenty five minute-drive away and is a wonderful pebble bay nestled between the White Cliffs with rock pools to explore at low tide.

A lovely cottage in a perfect location. I have stayed in Sandwich several times & love it. First time I’ve stayed at 12 Vicarage Lane & I’m sure I’ll stay again. Exactly how the pictures show it. Nice decor. Everything you need here for a break in a lovely part of Kent. I arrived early so parked my car in nearby car park and went into the Kings Arms garden. I hadn’t been there too long when Claire (cottage owner) messaged me to say the cottage was ready, which was very convenient as I could unpack & enjoy a nice Gin & Tonic back in the pub’s garden. Very pleased with the cottage & would recommend to small families or couples. Situated a few minutes walk to many shops bars & restaurants. It was the Folk & Ale Festival while we were there so the area was very busy, but the cottage was in a lovely quiet location. No problems with parking in the car park either. Only £4 for 24 hours.

We really enjoyed staying here with our 2 kids (age 4 & 5). Was cosy and well equipped. Very close to centre of old Sandwich. We parked easily in car park couple of mins walk away. Easy enough to stop outside the property to unload, drop me off with the kids. WiFi worked well. Perfect base for exploring the local area.

This is our second time in this cottage and we would highly recommend it. There is a well equipped kitchen, nice lounge and dining room, great bathroom with both bath and a very good shower and the beds are really comfortable. Everywhere is spotlessly clean and the bedding immaculate. It is very quiet at night and you get a really good night's sleep. If I was in the area again I would definitely try and book this cottage.

A wonderful cottage in a charming town! Located in the heart of Sandwich just a stones throw from lots of great pubs and delightful eateries, we couldn't have asked for more. The cottage was beautifully decorated with great attention to detail and really cosy. Great walks on the doorstep and plenty to keep us busy. We will be back soon and hope to stay for longer next time. Thanks to Claire for a wonderful weekend, all the best!
