everything, from the adventure (on the river) to get to the stunning land, the plants, wildlife, fruits, the food was amazing, the lodge itself was magical, most peaceful surroundings and most kind hosts. as beautifully as the photos are on booking.con, it doesn’t do it justice, it’s much much much more beautiful.
paradise on Earth.

The food was delicious with local products from their own farm.
The staff is so friendly and helpful and the place itself is amazing, located in the middle of nature you really can enjoy the peace and find some rest. For sure a place to come back.

What an absolutely amazing experience. Kenny and his family and staff have put together such an amazing experience within the limitations of the jungle, a truly unforgettable cultural immersion. We were cared for like family and the food was divine, comparable to some of the finest places I’ve eaten at (seriously). The guides they organized were fantastic for us, spoke perfect English for my family and took amazing care of us. Kenny even took me on a once in a lifetime river fishing excursion chasing rare and exotic freshwater species. Unforgettable!!
*note* if you plan on travelling here, know what you are in for. It is the jungle. It is unruly. The property operates by solar power and rainwater. It is not for evryone. That said, if you are looking for this experience, I can’t think of a better place and family to support.

Enthusiastic extended family-run lodge. Creative food compared with other lodges. Knowledgeable guides - saw giant otters, capybara, 3 types of monkey, sloths, large and small caimans, and too many birds to mention. Not luxurious but comfortable accommodation, and WiFi mostly works.
Some older rooms have shared facilities.

Our stay at Hacienda Herrera was magical. You are greeted by friendly staff and surrounded by the most spectacular scenery of the Amazon. Kenny and Ruth are wonderful and attentive hosts. Our favorite part was gathering in the main house for home cooked, fresh, organic meals and conversation with other guests. I did my research on lodges in Puerto Maldonado, and I am glad I found Hacienda Herrera. It's a special place that will make your Amazonian adventure one to remember.

Beautiful place in the jungle, the staff was so nice and friendly and the food delicious, fresh and home made. The excursion to lake sandoval is a must, what a nice and beautiful experience. A perfect place to relax, unwind and just enjoy what nature offers you.

You really get a travelling to the jungle vibe because its a 10 min boat drive to the hotel
The accomodation is built in the jungle/former farm. So you re surrounded by nature!! No traffic sounds! Just peace!
The staff is very very friendly!!!
All the ingredients for the meals are from the jungle and made fresh for every meal!
We did the wild animal tours in the creek nearby. U have to wake up early because the animals are mostly active and it snot freaking hot like in the afternoon. Also did the canopy tour, saw a lot of birds, beautifull views and pictures. At last we did the natural farm tour. We had the same guide for all three who spoke real good english and knew what he was talking about,
Absolutley recommending this place!
Maybe privacy wise some courtains on the front of the houses would be nice
Also a bit more lighting at night would be nicer when u have to go from the restaurant to the rooms.

I loved my stay at Hacienda herrera tampotapa, Kunny and Ruth are lovely. The room is very good and the decor is breathtaking. It is a welcoming place both for its very open and kind staff and for the jungle landscape that cuts you off from the noise of the city. What more can I say except that the food is delicious!!!
I can only advise you to go and spend a few days there!!

Me and my friends stayed in the lodge for 4 days. The price included transportation from and to the airport, accommodation and three meals per day (plus coffee and tea all day, a welcome drink and light refreshments twice per day). The rooms are spacious, and super clean, with a private patio and bathroom. There are no glass windows (there are bug nets instead) and the rooms we stayed did not really have entire privacy (ie the wall separating our rooms was not going up to the ceiling, the bathroom was right outside without walls). If you are concerned about privacy, perhaps you can contact Ruth as I think they offer more private cabins. That being said, we had absolutely no issues with the privacy, we felt very lucky to be hosted in these rooms, that made the experience feel much more original. Basically, we felt like we were really living in the jungle for a few days, while also being very comfortable. The double bed was large and comfortable, and the rooms were super clean with beautiful minimal aesthetics. Room service was provided every day.
The activities are not included in the price. The average cost of one activity is approx. $40, but some are more/ less expensive. You can ask Ruth for a catalogue to see options and pricing. We did the Amazon sunset, the boat trip to Sandoval lake, the visit to the rescue shelter and the cocoa tour. Each experience is unique, and we could not recommend them enough!
The service is excellent. Ruth and Kenny speak excellent English, and they are available to answer all your questions before or during your stay. The rest of the team in also fantastic and vary caring. Prepare yourself for some very special, mouthwatering, clean and healthy food, most of which comes from their own farm (tour of the farm is also an optional activity). The restaurant is a common space for guests, workers and the family. Upstairs there is another common space in which you can chill in hammocks and enjoy the view of the farm!
Nothing! Everything was excellent!

Beautifully located next to the Madre de Dios river. When we arrived, we were welcome with fresh juice and snacks. We got a free upgrade to a wonderful private bungalow. The food provided during our stay was absolutely delicious. It was surely the best we ve had among all of the hostels and restaurants we ve been to during one month of travelling. All food provided is organic. Many fruits etc. are harvested from their own land. We did a tour with Hacienda Herrera to a gorgeous lake to do piranha fishing. Kenny is a great guide. He showed us birds and provided loads of information. We could feel everyone wanted us to have a great time. Everything we did was perfectly organised. All of the staff was a bit shy and very very friendly and helpfull. After check-out we were brought back by boat and then we got a free ride to wherever we wanted to be dropped. Thank you very much for this awesome time! Highly highly recommend!!!

The food was amazing, everything homemade & fresh. They have an organic farm, so we were lucky enough to enjoy fresh fruits like bananas, mangos... The hacienda is really something different, they have chicks walking around, a cat, a dog, the feel is very friendly & in touch with nature. You can walk around the farm or just enjoying in beautiful serenity of nature in numerous hammocks set up around. For the more adventurous, hacienda also organises different trips, exploring the jungle, lake Sandoval with monkeys, otters, sloths... Highly recommend, would love to come back again!
Everything was amazing. I really have nothing to complain about.
