Had a great time staying at Gray Gull (stunning sunsets!). Cottage is clean and up to date. No negative issues at all.

We enjoyed the home and all it had to offer very much!!

My spouse & I and our dog stayed for a week. We’ve stayed in several other houses in Door Co. & this is our favorite. Listening to the waves as we fell asleep & upon wakening, the sunsets & access to the lake were magical. A really pretty & comfortable house with lots of natural light & spectacular views. Surrounding woods are lovely & provide privacy while stores & restaurants are a short drive from the house. The host was also gracious & promptly answered questions. Like other renters, we’d suggest bringing drinking water; unlike other comments, we did not find any odor in the shower. 2 of the bedrooms are on the small size compared to the master bedroom & the loft space is really tiny. No washer or dryer might be a drawback for some. But none of this marred our stay - in fact we’re hoping for a longer stay in this house next year.

Overall very good and the water location was wonderful. Just an FYI. The shower is very slippery and we never did find out just exactly where the red light was for the holding tank. Other quests said that there was a sulfur smell but we did not experience that at all. Just bring you own Fire stick for the TV.

This property was just what we wanted.
Nice home with lots of space & everything we needed for a week’s stay. Furnishings were very comfortable - with good tv’s & WiFi.
The water views & waves crashing at night were extremely relaxing. Also enjoyed lots of pelicans in the area - who seemed to enjoy fishing in front of us.
We would definitely go back.

Barbara has a beautiful property and anyone who rents is lucky to share it. The location is perfect for exploring the sites. We most enjoyed the lavender, fish boil and the beautiful colors. The house is very comfortable and we shared most meals there. I would recommend it!

Beautiful place, great location.

Gray Gull Cottage is a very cute and clean place, everything you need is there! The view of the lake is so amazing, we really enjoyed the fire pit right on the edge of the water.

Had a wonderful stay with family for a long weekend. House is outfitted nicely and the sauna was a nice bonus. Living room overlooking the lake made for some nice sunsets. Would stay here again in the future.

It was extremely memorable in many ways. Wonderful owner! Beautiful sunsets, very remote yet close to all the area's attractions. We had Door Cty almost to ourselves due to COVID-19 so we couldn't actually enjoy that so coming back to this quaint cottage was great! Great sauna, woodburner, and well supplied place. Be sure to read the helpful rules in a photo frame on the hutch-we didn't see it right away....thanks again for everything!!!

Loved the location and the cottage. It seemingly has a family history which gives it a warm feeling.
We’ve been visiting Door County for 40 years and so we know where we want to be located. This is close enough to the shops and dining but put enough to be restful and scenic.

My four sisters and I loved the location and especially the privacy. It’s a wonderful house with a great view of the water. The kitchen is well equipped and there was plenty of room for all of us. Also, sitting down by the water and watching the sunsets was incredibly beautiful and peaceful. We would definitely come back but earlier in the fall or late summer.

My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary. The cottage was so nice and spacious. You cannot get enough of the Lake views either. The location is central to the Door County towns we visited as well.

Our trip was meant to get away from our busy lives and just relax. The location was remote and quiet but accessible to many fun attractions. The house was cozy and everything we needed was provided. We had one small hiccup with check in but Barbra helped quickly and it was handled fast. This was a great location and we would be interested in starting here again in the future.

The accommodations were wonderful. The house was charming, clean, tastefully decorated and well equipped.
The view was outstanding and we enjoyed every beautiful sunset.

This is a lovely vacation home, very well maintained. Although there are neighbors nearby, the location feels secluded and is very quiet; the waves on the shore were the only sound at night. We enjoyed sitting on the deck near by the shore, watching terns dive for fish and looking at all the constellations at night. Beautiful location for sunsets over Green Bay. Just a short drive to many Door County towns and attractions. The screen porch was great for breakfasts and dinners on warm days. As others have mentioned, the tap water has a high mineral content, which is typical in Door County. It's perfectly fine for washing and cooking (and drinking, if you don't mind the taste), but you might want to stop and pick up a few gallons of drinking water at the supermarket in Sturgeon Bay on your way there. The kitchen and the rest of the house was well equipped, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that there was a whole week's supply of things like toilet paper, napkins, dishwasher soap, even shampoo and conditioner.

This property is private, surrounded by woods. You can sit lake front and watch beautiful sunsets. It’s a short drive to Egg Harbor, and there’s a good-sized gas station close by for quick necessities. There are some simple things the owners could do to update the place, but it was spacious and a really nice piece of land in DC.

This was my family's 1st time visiting Door County. The house was a nice location to venture out from, although because the property was so amazing, it was tempting to just stay in! The location was quiet & peaceful, with excellent views of the lake & gorgeous sunsets. The screened porch was especially nice & the fire pit was wonderful to use. We enjoyed our stay & would love to come back again someday.

We enjoyed our stay. Loved sitting on the deck by the water. The house was nice and well located for getting around the area. It was a little outdated but was fine for our purpose. The biggest issue was the water from the faucets; it smells. We brought our drinking water with us. The septic system doesn't handle frequent flushes. I felt I was back in Cozamel.
4.8
We loved the view and could have stayed out there all day.
The house itself is a nice setup. It does need some TLC and a really good cleaning. Our biggest issue was the water smell. I know this is something difficult to deal with. But, when I washed my hair, it smelled like that same sulfur smell. Even with these little issues, I would happily stay here again.

We really enjoyed our visit to Grey Gull. The house is well equipped, beds were comfortable, the view was fabulous and we had everything we needed for a comfortable worry free stay. I appreciated the abundance of cleaners and sanitizers that were readily available as well as the fact that when we arrived the house was open and fans were running everywhere giving it a good airing out. The one drawback for us was the situation with the water. It has a high iron content and really is unpleasant to drink or make coffee with so we had to buy quite a bit of water during our stay. A good iron filter could take care of that. The other problem is that you are asked not Flush every time you use the toilet because there is a holding tank. While this may not be an issue for some, for me I personally don’t like that outhouse feel I get when I see an unflushed toilet. And during hot weather it smells. We did our best to comply with the owners wishes, and I understand there is nothing to be done to change that situation, but that would give me pause next time. The house is older and it was very sweet to see photos of the original owners hung in the upstairs hallway. The outside is in need of some paint and minor repairs but that comes with older properties. The closeness to the lake is great! The water and dock are perfect and there was an abundance of firewood for the fire pit that we really appreciated. For those who don’t mind the water/toilet situation, it is a great place to stay.

What an amazing home and location. We hardly wanted to leave to explore more of the County. The setting and location provided exactly the kind of peace and solitude we were hoping for. Barbara was an excellent host. I hope we are able to return some day.

Wonderful place and perfect location! Great communication with the host- we loved everything about it and would definitely stay there again! Thank you Barbara for making sure we had enough wood for the chimney, and for restocking it as much as we needed :)

Barbara was accommodating and easy to communicate with. The house and property itself were wonderful… comfortable, beautiful, and included everything you could need. The sauna and wood burning fireplace made it a dreamy winter weekend! We loved the firepit on the lake at sunset time. How special.. thanks for sharing this with us!

Lovely cottage in the woods. It has three bedrooms with a half-bath upstairs near the bedrooms and a full-bath (shower) on the main floor.
The house would benefit from a full water treatment system - shower water smells of “rotten eggs” making you feel. It particularly clean following the shower.
Living spaces are comfortable with a nice inset wood fireplace.

We had a nice relaxing stay at The Gray Gull. Convenient location no matter what direction we were headed to. Nice views of the bay from living room and bedroom. Accurate description and good communication with owner when needed.

Wish we could live there all year-it was hard to leave!

We had a great trip to Door County, as usual. We were on the go everyday (and evening). The weather was not the best but that didn't hold us back. Great restaurants with great food. It was always so good to come back to the Gray Gull. Very comfortable and a great setting. The Gray Gull has everything you need for a relaxing vacation in a peaceful location.

Amazing house, fully equipped with everything you could need. All water views from master and living room/kitchen. Gorgeous little deck to sit on right at waters edge. Great vacation spot to get away from it all

We had a great stay at the White Gull - enjoying the deck was a nightly happening while watching the sunset. The peninsula is beautiful and easy to get from town to town from the White Gull. Make sure to bring linens.

Great location and beautiful sunsets. Lots of privacy and quiet time as a family.

Our family had the best time staying at the Gray Gull this past week. The property was clean and had everything we needed, and being on the water was amazing. The property is in a great location, a short drive to so many fun places. We would absolutely stay here again!

Great stay. We have been to Door Counrty many times.
There was a problem with the central AC unit which the owneer was responsive to, but it could not be fixed while we were there due to a part that had to be ordered. Fans were available as an alternative.

Beautiful home, very clean, great communication with the owner. We stayed and went ice fishing for Whitefish. Easy access to walk with gear down to the lake. No access for tab yo get on ice but ice wasn’t safe to bring at out.
Glad we stayed. Very comfortable. Thank you!
