Our space
Welcome to our luxurious and peaceful home in the Worcestershire countryside. The Pigsty, a genuine one, was converted in 1983. It is situated in the rural village of Birlingham. It has a village-only road so no through traffic. There is no pollution, you can see the stars at night and hear the birdsong. There has been little housing development during the last forty years.
Tucked away by the River Avon it is amazing how close it is to major road links. Stratford-upon-Avon and a visit to the theatre is memorable, Racing at Cheltenham and Worcester has been enjoyed by many. Shopping at Cheltenham and Birmingham is special and concerts at the Birmingham Symphony Hall. Pershore is only three miles away and has its cinema and theatre. There are lots of high-quality eateries and pubs nearby for everyone to enjoy.
The cottage faces south and overlooks the spacious garden with uninterrupted views across the River Avon to Bredon Hill. The sunset over the Malvern Hills to the west can be spectacular. Historic cottages surround the Pig-Sty the neighboring cottage being the oldest in the village.
The open plan downstairs offers uninterrupted views across the garden to Bredon Hill. It comprises a large fully-equipped kitchen with all the appliances you could need including an induction hob, conventional oven and microwave/oven fridge, dishwasher and washing machine. The dining area is on the west side with doors opening onto an outside covered patio. There is an Ercol table and chairs for six people. In the dining area is a wood burner.
In the sitting area, there are two three seater sofas and two comfy armchairs giving plenty of seating to watch the TV which is situated on the wall. There are windows all round, with bifold doors opening onto a south facing patio.
Off the open plan area is the downstairs double bedroom with an exceptionally large en-suite shower room.
Moving upstairs, the main bedroom has a king-size bed, the room has cupboards on the galleried landing, which leads to a large family bathroom/dressing room.
At the far end of the cottage there is the twin bedroom with two single beds. The unique windows give fantastic views and the room can also be used as a relaxing place for a coffee or an evening drink watching the amazing sunsets.
Moving outside, the landscaped garden is enclosed with the original black iron fencing. There is a large lawn providing plenty of space for children to play. It is a cottage for garden lovers, with fresh herbs by the door and a sitting area amongst the shrubs. Within the garden is a rare Gingko tree planted 40 years ago.
There is a choice of patios whether it's a coffee with views over Bredon Hill to watch the sunrise in the morning or a BBQ on the west-facing patio watching the sunset. Fully equipped outside kitchen with gas BBQ.
We look forward to welcoming you to my cosy country cottage in Birlingham, Worcestershire!

I can't say enough about the majestic and natural beauty of this property. It's so special! The views are phenomenal and the stillness and quiet are something to behold--you won't hear any man-made noises, anything you hear is from the natural world. It's beyond peaceful. It's restorative. It's healing.
I also can't say enough about Marian, the owner of the house. She goes ABOVE and BEYOND for her guests in a multitude of ways. She is beyond helpful and just a lovely woman.
I cannot recommend this house enough, it's a piece of heaven on Earth in Birlingham! It's perfection.

The Pigsty was the perfect location to get away and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the English countryside while being within distance of a fantastic pub. The house was lovely, clean, comfortable and well appointed and equipped. It had everything we needed. Everything went very smoothly. We would definitely stay again.

We had a wonderful stay in the Pig Sty. The owner was welcoming and informative and keen to ensure that we had a good time. My wife is in a wheelchair and the owner communicated with us and made accommodations such as facilitating a wheelchair accessible entry to the property so that, with support, my wife was able to enjoy the beautiful location. The property is situated in a great location to explore the Cotswolds and surrounding areas and the views from within and outside the property were stunning. We would happily recommend staying at The Pig Sty.

Fantastic Property in a great location.
We stayed with Mirian throughout the Cheltenham Festival week whilst working on a tradestand. From the off Mirian was extremely welcoming even leaving the fire on for our arrival that was much needed after a 4 hour drive from Norfolk. All rooms were clean with all of the appliances required for a much needed getaway. Great location that if we had more time I would of loved to explore being set in a lovely location. Highly recommend.

The property is in a lovely quiet location not far from the cotswolds. There are some lovely walks close by and the walk to the top of Bredon Hill is definitely worth it. The property is really nicely done, warm and has everything you need to self-cater which isn't always the case. The bathrooms are clean, the shower is good and the beds are also comfortable so all in all a great relaxing place to stay. The host was very welcoming and easy to contact and we would come back and stay again

Well equipped cottage in beautiful location.
Lovely week spent here. Well equipped cottage in good location. Lovely garden and views from the cottage. Not wheelchair accessible as advertised - steps up to gravel path, step down from dinning area to lounge, and bedroom & ensuite too small.

Excellent Cozy Bright Cottage ~ Beautiful Location
Everything was just perfect - straight from dealing with the owner - to smooth check-in process
Cottage was immaculate & well stocked with everything needed — Extra care was taken in light of COVID-19 with respect to cleanliness & amenities left for us such as eggs, bread, etc
Such a bright lovely place to stay - everything newly renovated
Will be back to this location again! So pleased!

A great cottage holiday with family
We had a perfect holiday at the cottage. Marian has been very friendly and welcoming from the early days of our enquiry to the end of our stay. The cottage is great for families with kids, was very spacious and clean inside and the garden and outdoor areas were nicely set up and well kept. We would highly recommend it for a nice break away from the city.

We loved it
This cottage exceeded our expectations in terms of the quality of fixtures, fittings and decor. The double-bed bedrooms are small but the open plan design of the rest of the cottage is light and spacious with glorious views out over the countryside. The whole cottage was spotlessly clean. The garden was an unexpected bonus, with lots of interesting flowers, and nooks and crannies that the two year old in our group loved. We took lots of long walks next to rivers and through local towns and villages, and didn’t need to use our car while we were staying here. We loved our stay

Lovely romantic hide away in a very peaceful setting
My husband and I needed to get away to recharge our batteries and this was the perfect setting to do just that. The property was so peaceful and we had a great stay. I can highly recommend this cottage.

Lovely cottage and garden, stunning views.
We were three adults and a 1 year old baby and the cottage was ideal for us. It was cosy and well equipped with all we needed. Marian was very welcoming and kindly provided us with a welcome pack of bread, milk and eggs. The garden is large and well kept, a perfect place to relax and enjoy the views. We recommend 'The Swan' pub and restaurant for its great but inexpensive menu and it is only a 10 minute walk away. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful cottage in a superb location. Garden and view is stunning.
A lovely homely cottage in a picturesque location. Our boys loved waking up to bunnnies on the lawn, and playing in the tree house at the end of the garden. Views are stunning across to Brendon, saw a deer in the lane, and a resident pheasant every evening in the garden. Very peaceful break.

So peaceful. Great views. Comfortable bed. Great location.
Such a great location, with a great choice of walks directly from the house. The pub (The Swan) only ten minutes walk away with good choice of food.
Recommend Revills Farm Shop. Lovely Walled garden at Kemerton and a good place to stop to walk up Bredon Hill.
Really enjoyed our stay in this lovely part of England. Marian was very helpful and welcoming.

A little oasis
We had such a lovely stay. The cottage is charming and equiped with all necessary items. Everything was very clean and there is a really cosy vibe to the whole property. We felt at home and Marian made sure we had everything we needed. There were even bread, milk and eggs waiting for our arrival. The garden is amazing and the perfect place to relax, eat and enjoy the views. Our children loved running around and exploring; indoors they were happy to find some toys and lego to play with. The pub/restaurant is a short, lovely walk away and serves great food. Overall a wonderful little holiday!

A lovely, restful base for a holiday
We and our seven-year-old daughter really enjoyed our week in the Pig-Sty in October. It was lovely to find fresh eggs, tea, milk and bread waiting for us on arrival. The owner gave us a warm welcome but, although her house is close by, the layout of the garden and private parking area allowed a high level of privacy, along with the reassurance that the owner was on hand should anything go wrong (it didn't). The tree house and the large garden were obviously the high points for our daughter, and we enjoyed helping ourselves to the windfalls from the apple trees. The house was very clean and was equipped with everything we needed to cook at home. Sadly, the village pub was closed for all bar one of our evenings, as the owners were on holiday, but when finally we did get to try it, the beer was good and the menu looked really lovely, so we'll definitely eat there next time. All in all, just what we hoped for.

Lovely cottage in a beautiful location
The cottage is very pretty and is in a very peaceful location with a large garden and stunning views which made sitting outside during the evening very enjoyable. The local pub, which is within easy walking distance, is a real gem and highly recommended. Walks from the cottage are numerous and fantastic with breathtaking scenery and very few people. Bliss!

Cosy, convenient and cluttered
Most things you need for a week of holiday activity and much more are packed into the Cottage. Welcoming hostess is keen to assist and enable the stay to be up to expectations. The gardens add tranquility to the environment, which ensured we had an enjoyable week in the Cotswold's.

Perfect house with beautiful view
The "Pig Sty" as it is called is anything but! The house is small and cozy but plenty of room for 4 people. Marian is very nice and helpful. The view from the patio is beautiful and the setting is bucolic. The house is in a small town near a larger village with all conveniences and is well situated for exploring the Cotswolds. The setting is a little slice of heaven! We highly recommend.

beautiful cottage
this beautifully maintained cottage exceeded our expectations with its tranquility, lovely gardens and view of Bredon Hill. the owner, marian, was very helpful and even provided milk eggs and bread for our arrival. Pershore is just a couple of miles down the road and burlingham, where the cottage is located, has its own pub and church. we would definitely like to stay here again soon.

A perfectly charming home for "roots" tour
From the welcoming basket of artfully arranged necessities such as artisan bread, milk, and eggs, to the garden seminar day showcasing the expertise of horticultural wizard Patrick Swann, Marion proved herself an admirable hostess for a property whose amenities sell themselves.
We stayed a month in this sweet village close to where my British husband grew up, and while cozy, the Pig Sty was immediately homey and comfortable, cleverly laid out to maximize space. The kitchen was well thought out, and a pleasure to use.
As a base for a few wonderfully muddy hikes, the mud actually a joy since we had left behind 4 feet of snow in NEW England, Pig Sty excels, with several villages within walking distance. The Swan Inn welcomed us with lovely meals of local ingredients, and they got to know me as "The American" during our month, with lively conversation and pleasant company.
And, how can one adequately describe the joy of the snowdrops cascading everywhere around the church, or the serenity of the Bulb Service in late February, letting us into the heart of the village. Or describe watching the Pig Sty gardens wake up from their winter sleep each passing day, while Pheasants skittered in the shrubbery.
The changes to furnishings made after our departure seem likely to be even better, but nothing can surpass sitting on the comfy sofa, French doors open to the patio and the view of Bredon Hill, sipping coffee or tea while sheep baa and later in the day, the sun sets and sets all the windows alight with golds and crimsons.
Yes, we would go again.

A wonderful place to remember
We are pleased to add another reference on this fabolous treasure which proved as a perfect hidaway for our easter holiday this year. Especially our kids will long remember playing in the spacy garden surrounding the house. There´s nothing missing for a relaxed holiday and the location offered reasonable distances to many high grade attractions you should not miss. So sad we did not have more than just 12 days to stay there. Surely we´d not hesitate to come back. Thank you, Marian

Spring Paradise!
We had a wonderful 10 days in the Pig Sty this Spring. The cottage and gardens were beyond our expectations, and the owner, Marian, was always available and willing to impart any information we required. The Swan Inn in the lovely village of Birlingham provided many great meals during our stay, and walks around the cottage area gave us wonderful views of the countryside, thatched cottages, sheep in the pastures, etc. The nearby town of Pershore was easy to explore and provided whatever necessities we required. It was also asparagus season for the locally-grown crop and every menu offered this luscious vegetable! This was the BEST of our visits to England and our hobby of visiting the National Trust properties in the local area. We would highly recommend this cottage for a lovely holiday!
