About this cottage rental
NB Please check before booking 3 couples, as we do not have 3 double bedrooms!
Green Cottage is a substantial grade II listed cottage in one of the most sought after villages in the Cotswolds. Built in the 1600's as two labourers cottages, Green Cottage has been frequently extended in the 20th century to keep it upto date with modern living standards. The existing owners' contribution includes a stylish CP Hart bathroom and installing the Cotswold born 'Everhot' range cooker in the kitchen. The property makes a perfect base for exploring the key towns and villages of the Cotswolds, or walking its hills and valleys. For celebration dinners or otherwise, the well known landmark, the Lamb Inn is within a stones throw of the cottage. For those wanting to enjoy alfresco dining amidst the delights of an English country garden, Green Cottage has a wonderful terrace on the edge of the Windrush Valley. If the days are cold and wet, go indoors, bake on the Everhot, enjoy a roaring fire in the lounge or toss a log on to the wood burner in the dining room. For the children there is plenty of space in the garden (and the house) for them to run around and indoors there is a full size bar football table and plenty of games. Whatever the season and weather Green Cottage has something special to offer.
The accommodation provides a great degree of flexibility. 3 bedrooms comprise of a family room and ensuite (sleeping up to 5); a twin room; a single room; a sofa bed in the sunroom and a camp bed that can be placed pretty much anywhere! It therefore comfortably sleeps up to 5-8.
Green Cottage is steeped in history. The original bread oven is still to be seen in the dining room. In 1914, Green Cottage was occupied by the Soul Family. Mrs Soul sent 5 sons to the First World War. It is said that Mrs Soul lit a candle each night in one window to guide her boys back but none ever returned. No British family lost more sons in the Great War. Great Rissington church contains pictures and details of the Soul brothers. There is also futher information in Green Cottage.
In the kitchen we have an Everhot range cooker. Manufactured not far from Gloucester, this state of the art cooker provides a constant heat source together with three ovens, an induction hob as well as hotplates. It's perfect for hosting large families or for those wanting to try out new cooking experiences. In addition, in the large garden to help energetic children (and Dads) run off their energy and develop silky football skills, a Samba 12ft x 6ft goal has been set up...so don't forget your football!

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful home in Great Rissington. Everything was exactly as described and the cottage was extremely comfortable. This is a perfect place to stay for visiting the Cotswads. The open fire and wood stove were really nice to have for when relaxing at the cottage. I'd recommend grabbing some wood on the way in at the store in Burton if you want to use them. My children loved everything and my wife and I did as well . It couldn't have been better. Thanks so much Anita we hope to come back soon!!

Absolutely charming cottage. The garden is a delight. Will definitely return.

Our stay was amazing! Two things that I would like to see - new pillows (they were very uncomfortable) and soap/shampoo in the shower. Otherwise it was incredible. The garden was in bloom and the sun shining for nearly 18 hours a day at this time of year. The interior was exactly what I hoped for in a Cotswold cottage, with plenty of room for 4 adults and a child. The neighboring Inn wasn't too kind when informing us that reservations are needed to eat there, but that is no fault of the property manager, I just wanted to note it for future travellers. The location is about 15 minutes to Bourton and just a little further to Stow. Very close to most villages. Just a lovely visit all around.

Great place to celebrate a family occasion
I booked Green Cottage to celebrate my 70th birthday with the family. It is in a great location for visiting the local area. The cottage is well-equipped and very comfortable. To stay in such a place with its interesting (but sad) history was a special experience. I wholeheartedly recommend Green Cottage and would love to come again.

Idyllic stay in the Cotswolds
We stayed here over the August bank holiday weekend. 4 adults and 2 children. Rooms are bigger than they look online. The family room is very comfortable with a beautiful bathroom with a bath overlooking the garden!
Downstairs is very big, the utility is so handy, kitchen functions very well, loved the Everhot range! We picked apples from the orchard and made a delicious apple pie one evening!
We had amazing weather and the children (7,3) really enjoyed the garden! Football goal, climbing frame and slide, and swings! And trees to climb! It’s a wonderland for kids!
The village is lovely, very quiet, nothing there except the pub where we had an evening meal and it was really excellent!!
Overall a truly great stay in a well equipped house.

Most enjoyable family week away.
Green Cottage is a very central location for all the Cotswold beautiful areas to visit. It lies in a very quiet location and the garden is extremely tranquil. We enjoyed BBQ's and al fresco dining most days, we even had breakfast on the patio which was most enjoyable. The cottage lacked NOTHING there was everything we possibly needed (including an apron which served me all week as I am very messy at the cooker).
The 3 children in the party loved the football table in the sun room - as did the adults, we had tournaments most days.
It was such a relaxing cottage, Grandma & Grandad had a separate bathroom and mum & dad and the children enjoyed their own bedroom and ensuite bathroom/shower room. The sitting room was a little dark but we hardly spent any time in there and it was comfortable if you did want quiet time. All in all the whole family had a splendid holiday in a beautiful stone built Cotswold cottage set in a gorgeous location.

Large Family Cotswolds Cottage
We love the Cotswolds and booked Green Cottage as a surprise for my wife's birthday... she loved it, if fact the whole family loved the cottage. There are lots of rooms and space for the children to investigate and play in (mine are 10, 11 & 13) and they enjoyed the games room, especially the table football! The weather didn't allow us to spend much time in the garden (swings, climbing frame and football goal), the flip side is that we could spend more time enjoying the cottage. The cottage is family friendly with lots of nice touches everywhere, e.g. toys and games for the children. The well equipped kitchen allowed easy cooking and the sofas and beds were very comfortable. --- and all only 3 doors away from the pub, what more could you ask for. We very much enjoyed our stay and would thoroughly recommend Green Cottage, we would certainly like to return. Thank you!

Lovely cottage and super garden for kids
Loved our stay here. Beautiful house well-located for day trips and the cottage was well-equipped for children and grown ups. Just beware the range for tinies! Amazing garden which we really made the most of. Would go back.

Beautiful house to stay in, in a lovely village.
We had an amazing stay in
Green Cottage. It has been furnished so lovely and everything you needed was there. We loved the cooker which also kept the house warm. It was quite a rainy weekend so unfortunately we didn't get in the garden much which was a shame as it was beautiful. All the beds very comfortable, and there were plenty of toys for our 2 year old, and games for the older ones. I will definitely recommend people stay there. Lovely pub next door but one too!

Great for families, beautiful large garden, historic house
My mother and I stayed here for six nights in May with my two children (ages three and one). The house was packed with toys, books and games. However, my daughter's favorite part of the house was the backgarden- she loved exploring and using the play equipment pretty much every day of our stay.
We spent two days exploring the Cotswolds (the house is well situated for this) and had great day trips to Oxford, Blenheim Palace, And Stratford-Upon-Avon.
The house has three bedrooms and could easily fit several more people. We had great weather on our trip and hope to be back soon!

Great for families!
This cottage was everything we could have wanted for our short stay. The kitchen was well equipped, comfortable beds and plenty of toys for our children (ages 3 and 1). The back garden was gorgeous! I would highly recommend Green Cottage to anyone looking for a nice break in the Cotswolds!

Unique and Wonderful
This was our second stay at Green Cottage, and it certainly won't be our last. It's one of the most unique properties we've ever stayed in, with the part of the house dating back to the 1600's. And while much of the lovely Cotswold stone is preserved inside and out, all of the rooms are completely updated (particularly the kitchen and master bathroom). Anita and Jeremy, the owners, are absolutely lovely to work with. We met them on this trip and received a thorough tour of the cottage (along with its history) and the beautiful gardens.
The cottage has a spacious patio with plenty of furniture for lounging or eating al fresco, and a barbecue that we used several times. The garden has mature apple, plum and pear trees as well as lovely flowers and ferns, and the space seems to go on forever. The Lamb Inn, which is less than a block away, serves much more than just pub food and you should definitely go there at least once during your visit.
The cottage is so comfortable that you may not want to leave it, but there are so many incredible historical sites within a 30-to-90 minute drive: Stratford-Upon-Avon; Warwick Castle; the incredible ruins of Kenilworth and Sudeley Castles; the Roman ruins at Cirencester; Blenheim Palace; and the lovely town of Bourton-on-the-Water, which looks like something out of a Miss Marple mystery.
We have rented a number of places on our trips to England, and Green Cottage is probably the most unique and lovely place we've stayed.

Fantastic weekend cottage in lovely village
We had an amazing stay at Green cottage. It was just as described and pictured -idyllic. Our children (4 and 8) kept themselves entertained the entire weekend - between the garden, toys, dvd's - we did not even have to leave the house. The location is fantastic as it is near all the Cotswold attractions. We are really looking forward to our next stay.

This cosy cottage was well set up for a family.
Our family, 2 adults and 4 children, had a wonderful time at Green Cottage. It was very well equipped, the duvets in particular were very cosy. We enjoyed walking around the village of Great Risington as well as venturing further afield to discover the other small villages close by. The Lamb Inn had great food and is only a couple of minutes walk from the cottage. We would highly recommend staying in Green Cottage.

Fantastic
It was amazing. We enjoyed our stay very much. Everything was the way we had expected. We can recommend this property to everyone who loves cottages in this fantastic area of the Cotswolds. By the way: after leaving, my husband realized that he had left some money in the drawer, but it was no problem to get it back. Thanks again to the owner who provided a good customer service, not only with regard to the money.

Highly Recommended
We were incredibly happy during our stay at Green Cottage; it was perfect in every detail and a great base for us to visit Cheltenham races. The village of Great Risssington is very sweet and close to many other classic Cotswold towns.
For our purposes the house was spot on and having the Lamb Inn pub in such close proximity was an added bonus. The garden looked great for families and I really hope I can bring my wife and children back to stay at some point in the summer.
Anita (the owner) was a dream to deal with and couldn’t have been more helpful pre, post and during our stay.

Perfect house and location for our weekend
We were a group of five adults and three children aged approx 5. Anita was excellent to deal with when booking and ensured all the beds were set up in the right rooms for our particular group. The ground floor of the house has four good-sized rooms - kitchen, dining room, sitting room and conservatory - for us this meant the adults could use the kitchen and dining room tables for activities, and the children were safe and happy in the other two rooms. All the more happy due to the in-house collection of toys for them - the wooden trains were a hit! The kitchen has a very homely feel and was well stocked with equipment, and we made good use of the Aga-type stove. I didn't test all the beds, but the single I had was really comfy and had a goodly duvet to protect from the colder feel late at night. And the shower worked well too. Garden outside was just big enough for a little kick-about with the kids, and had one football goal and a climbing frame/slide thingy which kept them occupied.
The location is very close to Bourton with its amazing array of facilities - loads of things to do with the kids but yet doesn't feel overly touristy and retains a nice village feel.
Really nothing to complain about except for the weather being a bit cold and wet! We'd certainly all be likely to book it again in future for similar gatherings.

A beautiful, spacious house
We had a wonderful, relaxing stay at the Green Cottage. There was plenty of space for 7 adults. We particularly enjoyed the spacious garden and spent all our evenings out on the patio.
The owners were always very efficient and helpful to respond to our queries and requests.
We would definitely recommend this to our friends and family.

Great Cottage
The cottage is in fantastic condition and has all the facilities of a modern home. We loved sitting outside on the patio in the evening sun. The location was perfect allowing us to visit many of the sites in the region.

Wonderful Cottage
Our family of five had a lovely stay at Green Cottage. It was great to stay in a real Cotswold cottage. There was so much room for everyone inside and out. The garden was very spacious and the kids loved playing football outside and foosball inside. Green Cottage is obviously a home well loved and we feel priviledged to have been able to share it.

Girlie weekend
We have just spent the most relaxing weekend in this idyllic cottage. We were a group of five women and found that we had more than enough space to spread out. The owners were extremely helpful from booking right up to arrival and everything was explained clearly. The cottage was spotless and there was everything we could possibly need. As the weather wasn't that great for our weekend away we weren't able to sit out on the beautiful patio and admire the wonderful garden but instead we took advantage of the comfy sitting room and the roll top bath! We're thinking of booking for next year already!
