The location, the staff and the overall ambiance

Location, Pool and common areawere very nice
Dorms are rather small for the price, no space for backpacks. Also the bunk beds are very unstable if you sleep on top and do not have any rails

- Pool was lovely
- Amazing view
- Really friendly staff. I was there on my own and they made a lot of effort to talk to me and make me feel welcome
- Amazing place to unwind, you get the vibe this is a relaxing hostel not a party one. Which after a few nights in a party one in Medellin was perfect!
- Loved the idea of family dinners; I tried food I probably wouldn’t have elsewhere in Colombia
- The mosquito nets were GREAT. Didn’t get bitten once while here
- Love love loved the sounds of the jungle at night. So relaxing and helped me drift of better than anywhere else I’ve stayed in Colombia
- The lady on reception was so nice. Helped me find a route to Minca that saved me money and didn’t try to get me to do the transfer over the bus despite it costing more, which I really appreciated
- Close to Tayrona national park. A 15-20 minute walk to the entrance down the road
- You can see both the sea and jungle from the bar area. A view you couldn’t get tired of looking at
- Dorms are basic compared to common areas
- Not secure. Our dorm door didn’t lock and the lockers were too small to store anything other than little things.
- Food wasn’t too overpriced as others have said; they do have happy hour. It wasn’t the best though
- Be careful about which dorm you choose. I should have gone for a larger one. I usually make friends quite quickly in hostels as I solo travel a lot, but I guess smaller ones often narrow your chances of this a bit! I got the vibe that it’s a social hostel if you’re in a group or a couple but not if you’re travelling on your own.
- This isn’t the hostel’s fault but on my last night a big group stayed in my dorm and they were quite inconsiderate that there was someone else in there. They talked until late and woke up at 6 speaking loudly as if it was the middle of the day. I know people need to get up early to visit Tayrona but quiet hours would be appreciated. Most other places I’ve stayed they use ‘quiet hours’ between 11pm-8am. So even if people have tours to do they’re mindful of others in the room. I was catching up on sleep since my visit to the park was the day before!
- WiFi did not reach the dorm. I know it’s in the middle of nature but a WiFi booster would probably solve the issue?
- Since most people travel lightly some shampoo or shower gel would be great in the showers

A warm buzzy vibe, plenty of social space to hang out and meet people. Beautiful setting. Well maintained. Good vegan options (for Colombia). Extremely friendly and helpful staff.
Incredible views.
Dorm room was very basic. Got quite cold during the night due to the wind. The walk to the park is doable (around 20-25 minutes) but you have to walk along a main road with limited to no pavement space.

It is the nicest hostel I have ever stayed in, out of all the countries and hostels I’ve been too. I even overheard two people saying that they think this is the nicest hostel they’ve ever been to in their life too. Amazing views, with beautiful sunset and a lovely pool, which is full of people and social. Free good quality breakfast included, with lovely meals at night. Everyone sits and eats together which is lovely. The bar is great too and the 2x1 cocktails. Good mosquito nets on the beds too. I read previous reviews about the bathrooms not being clean and honestly they have definitely listened as the bathroom section downstairs was super clean and always someone cleaning in there when I went in.
They should have bigger lockers, there’s only small lockers to store valuables, but everything I own is valuable to me! They ran out of almond milk, which was annoying as a vegan and also ran out of fruit for the smoothies. The staff were really nice. Only annoying thing about a staff member was that I kept speaking in Spanish to him at the bar and he kept replying to me in English, even when I continued respond to him in Spanish. It was rather frustrating and patronising. I would’ve said it was to help me, but my Spanish is quite strong, so it just seemed rather selfish as opposed to helping me as there’s a reason why I keep speaking in Spanish, surely that’s a big enough hint not to be ignorant.

Good vibe - social but chilled. Pool nice, good common area and the 4 bed dorm was great. Food was great, location to the park and monkey walk also fantastic.
Dorm beds need an individual light/lamp. Staff play the music way too loud in the common area - totally unnecessary - people are there to talk or chill, not get blasted with music.

Camera bungalow molto suggestiva.

The room was outdoors therefore lots of insects. My wife had an allergic reaction to something in the room we therefore had to leave. The hostel refused to give a refund (even partial) and the staff did not care. We ended up leaving the hostel and stayed opposite who were super accommodating! Disappointed in our treatment, we’ve never left an accommodation before…

Nada.

The hostel had all of the characteristics you would like to recommend to everyone including a good vibe, nice location and great pool.
However, it is let down by hopeless service from staff, who don’t appear to care about the wellbeing of guests. Examples include, forgotten orders on multiple occasions. When we were awaiting service of drinks etc, the staff were just chatting amongst each other.
The food and drink is good, but overpriced.

Great place, amazing pool, tasty food.
4.0 / 5.0
Great location close to tayrona park entrance
Lovely pool area
Great staff and volunteers
Chilled vibe
Reliable wifi
Good happy hour deals on drinks
The dorm (The Herd) was extremely hot
Lots and lots of bugs inside the dorm due to open sides
Food is decent quality for the family dinner but overpriced for the portion size
Breakfast is mediocre - granola and fresh fruit BUT only if you’re there before 8am before it runs out - fruit is first come first served and is not refreshed throughout the designated breakfast time

So the location of this place as a passing place to Tayrona is great.
They also had a few workers there who were very friendly serving on the bar.
The almond milk in a “free breakfast” would have been an extra $3000 charge. I spoke with the manager about this who was not so empathetic. Absorb the costs elsewhere in the hostel runnings, they make enough money there to do this as it’s not cheap too.
The walk uphill to the hostel is also a bit much. It would be nice if a worker could help weary travellers lug their bags up.

The view & the swimming pool are amazing !

The pool and bar are fab with loads of common space to chill out. The family-style dinners in the evening were great to meet people.
The food was really hit or miss. The evening dinners were good however the bar snacks were really poor and the packed lunch was practically inedible. Strongly recommend not getting it to bring on hikes as it was so soggy it seeped through the paper bags it was in.

Views are gorgeous and it is very close to Tayrona park. Staff is nice and helpful. Had an incident in a dorm and they offered a private room to compensate.
Hostel is not clean enough and it’s slightly overpriced. Do not leave food (even if sealed) since there are RATS. Seems like the bed had some kind of bugs since I woke up with my legs full of bites.

Beautiful surroundings, clean and comfortable private room with a hammock on the balcony! The air conditioning was great! Staff were friendly and the hostel is very close to the El Zaino entrance to Tayrona National Park. The hostel offers a packed lunch for day trips too.
It was very noisy all day until around 11pm due to loud music and the kitchen, as the rooms are very close to it. But overall not bad for a couple of nights!
4.5 / 5.0
Really cool hostel with great views over the jungle. Facilities were great for the price with an infinity pool and a nice bar area. Social vibe with a nice amount of activities to do in the surrounding area
We were sleeping in an open air dorm which was really cool but not the greatest for sleeping.
