It was a magnificent property. The hosts Linda and Christine were exceptional. The breakfast was great. You had the feeling that every wish would be fulfilled. We would definitely come back again. Thank you for the lovely time.

The second room we stayed in (the one I had originally booked) was beautiful and the breakfast was delicious.
Upon check-in, the owner informed us that there was an electrical fault in the original room I had booked and moved us to a cheaper (but still beautiful) room for our first night, assuring me that she would give me a refund for the difference between the rooms upon check-out. We were very accommodating and understanding, and didn't mind being moved to the smaller and cheaper room for our first night. Everything was pretty great until our check-out, when the owner seemed to have forgotten that she had promised me a refund for the first night's mishap. I then reminded her and she only gave me R200 in cash - when the difference between the two rooms per night was at least R1300. Not wanting to cause a scene in front of her staff and other guests, I decided to to ask the owner for the rest of my refund via a message after we had left. She first ignored me until I filed a complaint with Booking.com, when she then accused my husband of smoking in her thatched accommodation - clearly wanting to get out of paying my outstanding R1100 refund. I informed her that was 100% not the case, as my husband and I live in a thatched house and would NEVER take such a risk. Because I was so vocal and continued with my complaint to Booking.com about how the owner was handling us and the full refund she had promised but failed to deliver on, she was then forced to refund me - but drew it out over days of me following up. Eventually she only refunded me roughly R900, when I was actually due at least R1100 (from the R1300 she had only given me R200 cash), but quite honestly, I was so rattled by the whole ordeal and the way the owner continued to handle me that I decided to let the R200 outstanding refund go. We will never go back to this establishment and I will not recommend that anyone stays there either - purely due to the owner's appalling way of handling her guests when she fails to deliver on her promises and tries to get out of refunding what is due to her guests.

The home was beautifully decorated - it felt like we were in a country home in England with its enormous living area, and exquisite decor. The owner, Linda, was especially attentive, welcoming us back even when returning late at night. It was the perfect place to stay for a wedding in the area, but also with easy access into Stellenbosch.

An absolutely wonderful stay. Linda was a lovely, charismatic host who made us feel welcome immediately. And Christine's breakfasts were delicious. We loved our room and really felt at home in our little bubble of joy. And the location! I loved the views that made you feel like you're tucked away far in the countryside, and yet only 10min from Stellenbosch central. I would absolutely recommend a stay at Gemoedsrus, and we'll certainly be back. (Ooh and the cherry on top of our stay was Linda's wine farm reccomendation. The perfect end to our weekend, so be sure to ask her)

Self contained accommodation in a beautiful location which was very comfortable, clean and tidy. Excellent breakfast. Lovely area around the pool to relax and take in the views.
No outside seating area by our accommodation.

Lovely view, beautiful garden
We booked and paid for a room with an airconditioner, but were given a room without one. According to the owner this is a booking.com error as twin rooms do not have airconditioners. Also there was no water during load shedding to drink, shower or flush toilets. Extra water was not supplied, other than on the first day of our stay. There was also a lot of confusion when we arrived as to which room we were supposed to be placed in.

Amazing place with a fantastic atmosphere. The view is stunning and the place is beautiful. the perfect place to get away and relax. The owner and staff are wonderful and the breakfast a real treat.
The only ‘tiny’ issue are the standard bed sizes in South Africa. The beds are too short for a person taller than 1.88.

The location, the pool, the garden, the breakfast, everyone working on the ground was extremely friendly and helpful.

Actually everything was fine. Super nice room ( with update) super large bathroom all this presented in an English classic ambiance. With all these details left and right it felt like we were visiting a family member. The hostess Linda with her right hand Cristine did everything to make us feel comfortable. It was the beginning of our long drive through the westcape! A special experience to start I must admit and a bit of a switch if you come from busy Cape Town. Particularly beautifully landscaped garden with a special and beautiful pool and an organic vegetable garden. Too bad nothing is done with the vineyard that lies along the road up. ( maybe lease it to a local vintner ?)
Some points to note:
At Loadchedding makes it very unsociable in the evening! Reading a book in the pitch dark is also difficult. Better facilities on this to accommodate this regularly recurring phenomenon! ( we had a fleshe light) . Nice pool ( when guests are present please remove the pool suction hose) For 2 days fine as a transit, especially in combination with visiting one or more wineries. At check out we were busy at 9.45 in the morning to bring the suitcases to the car, when the staff already started pulling the beds. 10 a.m. check-out remains 10 a.m. check-out. This made us feel like we were being pushed out.

Breakfast was amazing I enjoyed the fruit and yogurt all fresh and very tasty.
I had poached egg on toast with bacon. No complaints.
It was very hot in the dining area maybe a fan would of been nice but otherwise superb.

We loved the beautiful Stellenbosch farm. We were able to picnic and swim and go on walks through all the little secret gardens and the winelands around the house. The gardens are filled with the most beautifull flowers, fig trees and vegetable patches. The interior is done with style and have that European winelands feel. Linda our host and owner is one excellent lady, with a friendly team to support her on her hosting journey. She really made our weekend here wonderful and the Gemoedsrus Farm have all the qualities too give you back the peace and rest you need.

Nice location between the wineries. Location and people very friendly.
I would recommend this location so you can easily travel to all the nice sites in the area

The warmth of the host. The peacefulness that came with the location and environment
No fans in the room. The heat was abit unbearable and the window provides only a moderate relief. Due to having the windows open had to deal with mosquitoes

Lovely people and amazing place
We arrived late at night and in the dark the signs were we needed to enter were difficult to read. Took some time to find out that we needed to drive up a gravel road from where Maps navigation ended

The guesthouse was located in a beautiful area outside of Stellenbosch. The host and staff were very friendly and helpful. Great wine farms very close to the guesthouse.
