What a wonderfully restored, thoughtfully stocked home. Every single person in our family absolutely loved this house. The AC was cold on both floors, the kitchen was outfitted beautifully, and the owners even provided hand soap, toilet paper, and paper towels. Every part of this house was comfortable and beautiful.

We loved it. We would stay here again. I felt like I was staying in someone's home instead of a rental. It was very comfortable. The weekend we were there was very windy and overcast so we didn't spend as much time at the beach as we expected but Galveston has plenty of other things to do. All the furniture was comfortable, including the beds. I did see comments about the rooms upstairs being open to each other so I was a little concerned about that but it worked out fine. Each room had a door into the hallway that latched (not locked) and each interior door that connects the rooms doesn't latch but has a door stop to hold the door closed. The description states that two cars will fit in the driveway and being this is Texas and lots of people drive larger vehicles I want to note that my husband's 4door, long bed truck fit snuggly in the driveway with barely enough room to close the gate. Two normal sized cars will fit fine with the gate open. Just something to keep in mind if your party has multiple vehicles especially larger ones. We rented a golf cart and parked that in the driveway with the gate closed and two trucks on the street. Street parking didn't seem to be an issue, we comfortably parked two trucks in front of the house each day and there was room further down the street if we had needed it. We stayed with our adult children and all of them said they would stay there again.

We rented this place for a small get together for my husband's 50th birthday. Great location, quiet area, great neighbors, unique historic home. This place was perfect for the occasion and would definitely rent again.

We came for my son’s graduation weekend from TAMUG. It was a perfect central location from the school and restaurants/shopping. The house is decorated well and even had Christmas decorations. We couldn’t have been more pleased.

Beautiful home! Very clean and spacious for our large family. The accommodations were just as the selected home described. Everyone enjoyed their own beds. The location is close to local restaurants and the beach. We will for sure be coming back to stay again in the future. Thank you to the amazing host for keeping in touch!

This was the perfect house for my unconventional family (single dad and 7 teen aged sons). Close to everything and still quiet time and the house. Kitchen is amazing 👏 all the updates are great. Could not have ask for better vacation home.

7 of us were in Galveston for an offshore fishing trip. We stayed two night at the house. It is pretty much as described although we didn't spend much time at the house other than sleeping. Parking for more than 2 cars is probably the biggest issue we had. The place was clean and the neighborhood quiet when we were there mid week. Close to much of what you'd want to do on the island. We will stay there again.

We had a wonderful stay at this historic Galveston home! So much thought was put into the decorations and details. The owners were very thorough with the information and expectations of their home. My family walked to Seawall Blvd and the Pleasure Pier. We could have walked to The Strand in the opposite direction, but we had already worn ourselves out that day. Basically this place has a great location! We will gladly stay again!

This most comfortable and charming house was perfect for our family of 7 adults. Wonderfully stocked kitchen . We used the screened porch and also tried the fire pit but we had rain so couldn't use it. .Downstairs bedroom perfect for grandpa who uses a walker. 1st floor bedroom perfect for grandpa and his walker. This home is absolutely beautiful and in a great location. We loved the care taken to decorate and outfit the home. Truly walkable to the beach and very close to anything in the historic district. This house is great for groups who want to socialize while preparing meals or hiding from the rain. We had a great time during our vacation and would definitely rent this house again.

We had an amazing trip to Galveston and the house was great! We had open communication lines the entire trip and were so happy we were able to stay here. The house was amazing and very much like a home away from home. The location was great and central to many of the different things to do on the island. We all really enjoyed our trip and would definitely rebook in the future for another family vacation. It was a great time and a great experience!

We loved everything about this house! Our bookclub of 5 women enjoyed this lovely house for a recent weekend. Wonderfully decorated to enhance the beachside setting. Beds, pillows, linens were all very comfortable and exceptionally clean. The kitchen provided everything we needed including ziplock bags for leftovers. Enjoyed the wonderful air conditioning, even with the 2-story house, we all stayed cool and comfortable. We enjoyed every part of the house and the side porch was great for early morning coffee while the others slept in. Easy commute to the Strand, Boardwalk, and beach areas. We would like to make this a yearly outing and hope to return next year to enjoy this wonderful, welcoming house.

This property is absolutely wonderful and made our stay in Galveston just perfect. This beautiful historic home was immaculately clean and beautifully decorated. The kitchen was amazing - I have never stayed at any VRBO where the kitchen was so well stocked! The living/gathering spaces inside and out were comfortable and inviting. We had 7 adults and 2 teenagers and every single one of us loved it and couldn’t stop talking about its beauty and uniqueness in every room. The bathrooms were SO nice and there is even an outdoor shower for prerinsing off the sand from the beach - which is just an easy half-mile walk away. The neighborhood was peaceful and quiet. The owners were very helpful and responsive (more responsive than the management team). I highly recommend this place! We will stay here again!

We had a great deal of fun at the Mermaid house. One of the cleanest VRBO I’ve stayed at. Too warm to enjoy backyard or screened in porch - but they are very nice. Loved the layout. Location was great - easy walk to beach. Front porch view a little lacking - but overall. Super rental.

This home feels so homey and comfortable, even with my family of 8! I fell in love with the kitchen and open space love the gas stove!!! The master could have used a dresser and maybe a slight larger tv.. but the room was spacious.. We still had room for 4-6 more if needed! The keyless entry was another one of my favorites.. I would highly recommend this home to anyone.. The history of the home is amazing and knowing the age of it is so shocking, you would have never known its 115 years old! We will be back to visit your Mermaid home again!
