Towards the end of July the Killaloe International Music Festival centered on the historic cathedral, concentrates on the classics and is growing in reputation around the world. Every September, Killaloe is the venue for the European Pike Angling Championships. The historic towns of Killaloe & Ballina offer an exceptionally beautiful riverside setting and access to Ireland’s greatest waterway. The River Shannon & Erne system is a popular cruising, boating & angling destination extending from Donegal in the northwest of the country, with canal extensions to Galway in the west, Dublin in the east and Waterford in the south all the way to Limerick where it enters the Atlantic Ocean at Foynes where a historic seaplane museum tells the story of transatlantic air travel and the invention of Irish coffee.

We had a terrific stay at this property. Close to where we were attending a wedding, local shops and pubs. People here are very kind and inclined to pause and chat. 5-stars - no complaints. Would gladly return.

The Derg House was perfect for our stay with lots of space and wonderful views from the house and from the garden. We enjoyed all aspects of the house with seating areas for all types of activities. Around the fire pit in the evenings was an especially lovely time and we saw the Aurora Borealis which was very special. Definitely a prime location for trips and for seeing family in near-by Nenagh. Thank you for a memorable vacation.

We would give our 8 night stay 6 stars if we could. Everything exceeded our expectations. Perfect amount of room for 6 of us (3 generations), lovely stroll into the quaint villages of Ballina and Killaloe. The vacation home was clean and well stocked. The views were beautiful and relaxing. We made several meals on the outdoor gas grill and ate all of our meals on the patio, watching the swans and boats float by. Communication was quick and easy. A couple fabulous restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance. Thank you for the hospitality!

Perfect Visit- wished we could have stayed longer!
Highly recommend.
The house is well equipped, and was perfect for our party of 6 adults. We loved utilizing the back garden, with it’s wonderful water views. The town is very walkable, and we had great food at Goosers and Flanagans.

Very clean, neat, and well supplied at a nice location.
Stayed with my 2 kids, son in law, and granddaughter who is 3 years old. It was perfect for us. Very private and secure for the toddler too. I always bring cleaning supplies on trips just in case, but thankfully didn't need to use them. The House was spotless and really comfortable. LOVED IT!!!!!

Perfect for a Ballina/Killaloe Stay
The house is exactly as in the photos. It was spotlessly clean and the kitchen was exceptionally kitted out for feeding a large group. We were lucky with the weather and virtually lived on the deck watching the boats go by! One tip - if anybody is visiting soon, then you should book your restaurants early as we found it difficult some days due to Covid dining restrictions. Our best picks were Mat the Threshers in Birdhill and Larkins in Garrykennedy. Flanagans on the Lake was the closest and a lovely spot. We'll be back!!

Fabulous House
We all had a fantastic time in your beautiful property, the views are absolutely stunning and so close to all amenities and a great location for trips out in the south .
The house was well equipped and is a perfect size for our family of 7 it was home from home ,The beds are really comfortable and all the rooms are really spacious throughout the house .We would of loved to spend more time in the beautiful garden but unfortunately the weather wasn’t at its best that week . The only thing we were a little disappointed with was the cleanliness of the house as we felt it needed a spring clean , other than that we has an amazing time thanks

Gorgeous home and Fabulous location!!
The house was beautiful and the bedrooms were very spacious. The furnishings were very nice and loved the floor to ceiling windows and doors. The backyard and view stole the show!! We spent many evenings watching the sunset out on the deck with a glass of wine. The town of Ballina was great with many fine eating and drinking areas. Recommend Goosers for dinner and we loved meeting the locals at Mills Pub. A wonderful base location to explore Ireland.

Great Size for a Family of 5
Three generations ranging from 6 to 70 stayed here. The beds were comfortable with a range of pillows to choose from. There were plenty plates, bowls, forks, knives, etc so that we didn't have to do dishes after every meal.
The fact that there were three full bathrooms made this an ideal place for us as bathing and toilette facilities are always at premium.
The back yard was spacious and beautiful and if it had been just a little warmer, I'm sure we would have spent a lot of time out there.
We were in town for my friend and I to run the Limerick Half Marathon and the drive into Limerick was easy and fairly quick. The closest pub (sorry, I forgot it's name), is situate right on the river and serves food and drinks and is a lovely place to sit and watch the water and chat as children play.
If we ever find ourselves back in that part of Ireland, I would love to stay there again.
David is a fantastic host who helped my friend and I out in an amazing way when flights were changed and we were no longer able to pick up our bibs for our run.

This was the third time staying at this wonderful place.
I felt like I was home. My daughter and son in law enjoyed the beautiful house and gorgeous view. We were fortunate to have warm and sunny days. I want to go back in the fall.

Wonderful Waterfront Property
This property is exactly as advertised. It’s a wonderful house filled with all the amenities we would ever want in a VRBO. The owners provided a very useful manual which contained everything from local restaurant and sightseeing suggestions to detailed instructions on how to work everything in the house. And the views from both inside and outside the house are gorgeous. In the three days we stayed, we easily explored both Ballina and Killaloe on foot with several great restaurants an easy 10 minute walk. We would highly recommend the Shannon River Cruise which leaves daily from the Ballina side of the river. Unfortunately, a family emergency required us to cut our trip short. But, when we contacted the property manager, Eamon, he was gracious and helped expedite our departure. Our only disappointment was that we weren’t able to enjoy the house and the location longer.

Wonderful house and immaculate
Wonderful house and immaculate! Perfect location, plenty of room for 8 adults, wish we would have stayed in the summer to enjoy the beautiful garden and deck. We would visit again!

Great house and location!
This house was perfect for our family trip - very comfortable for 6 adults and one teenager. The downstairs bedroom and bath was suitable for my Dad with mobility issues. The kitchen was very well equipped. The master bedroom was huge and had loads of storage. The views from the house are lovely and it’s a very easy 10 to 20 min walk to town depending on where you are going. Would very highly recommend Goosers (ate there multiple times!). The Super Value in Killaloe had everything we needed to make several dinners and breakfasts. Don’t miss the traditional session at Liam O’Riaian’s pub (another favorite) on either Sunday or Tuesday.
The location was perfect for us to make several short day trips. Would also highly recommend a walk in Ballycuggaran (short ten min drive from house). Several viewpoints with panoramic views over the River. Also recommend Killaloe River Cruises - short one hour cruise with beautiful views and excellent commentary from the captain.
Eamon was always a call or text away and was very helpful. He and David the owner were wonderful to work with on our rental. Really hope we return someday!

We arrived early at the Dublin airport , even though we arrived at the house ahead of schedule they accommodated us and were very gracious. They provided all the information we needed to enjoy our time in the charming villages of Killaloe and Ballina . We were able to use this as a central location to visit the places we wanted to tour including Blarney Castle, Bunratty Castle, Sixmilebridge, as well as Cork and Limerick. We cannot recommend this highly enough . The house is well equipped with everything you would need. The deck is lovely and we enjoyed some time by the river. Both villages have excellent restaurants and pubs. Grocery shopping was also close by . The listing description was accurate. The property was spotless and well maintained.
