Wow! This place was amazing in every way to the incredible views, easy access to public transportation and grocery store convenience. We would likely never leave if we could! Will definitely be back and it is rare we think that about a place or area as so much in world to see but this place is worth a 2nd act!

Fantastic views
Unobstructed view of the Mountains from the living room and porch. We sat outside and looked at Mountains and listened to the cow bells in the distance even on the one day it rained. The porch covered us. They gave us free bus passes and or walked to the restaurant train station section of town which is 20 30 minutes uphill. We also bought groceries and made fondue in the provided pots and full kitchen. The rooms are all very nice and warm and quiet. Obviously well made Chalet. Train station Grund and new cable car station are very close. For more visual information use Google Earth street view and there is a web cam on top of Hotel Belvedere in center of town. The management couple here were very nice in person and through email. Highly recommend Chalet and Switzerland.

great stay in great apartment
we were with a family of 10 total, including 4 children in Apartment Billabong. It is a very cozy, clean and nice apartment and big enough for all of us. It is also very well equipped and has everything you might need for cooking and eating meals with a big family (cutlery, plates, glasses etc.) Diarmuid the host was very welcoming and responsive on emails before as well as during our stay. although there was a lot of construction work going on on the Mannlichen bahn -which was in front of the house, it didn't bother us very much. from the apartment you have great views on all the big peaks surrounding grindelwald and when the new bahn is ready you can easily walk out of the apartment with your ski gear on to catch a gondola.
The jungfrau area is great for skiiing, hiking sleighing and more and the antique trains very much add to the atmosphere of the area. We definitely recommend this place and send a big thank you to the host for a wonderful stay!

Convenient and well equipped
he property is located just off the main road within view of the main cable car which is accessed across the railway line and down a steep bank to the back of the property. The kitchen is the best equipped we have ever stayed in! The living access is compact but there are 8 seats for both eating and resting and many candles and decorations to make it feel homely. Apple TV was great to have. Beds are comfy and bathroom facilities, whilst lacking heated rails to dry towels and the odd plug, are pleasant. Manager was helpful with the minor issues we had

Great accomodation in nice area
We stayed in this apartment with 2 families which fits well. Appartment is very well equiped, all you need is there, including linnen, cleaning supplies for dishes, tv, washingmachine , fireplace, etc. Diarmuid gaves us a warm welcome and excellent info on the area, which we really liked. Nice long slopes, beautiful views. The apartment is very close to the Mannlichen cable bahn but the crossing over the railway with young children when there is a lot of snow is not ideal so we ended up driving down. But further there is nothing negative to mention. We love to come back here in the future.

Everything we hoped for !
Grindelwald delivered on all our expectations for our 2015/16 Christmas/New Year Holiday!
The apartment was very comfortable and included all the necessary conveniences including a very well equipped kitchen. Some of us skied, some made day trips to other cities by car and some of us just hung out and enjoyed the spectacular view. The location was ideal for us ,,,, we had a 15/20 minute walk to the center of Grindelwald which was the perfect antidote to all the beer, bratwurst and rosti consumed. Grindelwald's Co-op supermarket was a pleasant surprise ... well stocked and great variety. We were also impressed by the excellent restaurants found in town. Not a big nightlife town but we were generally in bed early anyway.
All in all, we would recommend Grindelwald highly and we would return to this apartment.

Ideal Location and a great apartment
Great apartment in a great location. This has been probably the best apartment we have stayed in on holidays. Firstly, it has a great location. It's only a few minutes walk to both Mannlichen cable-car or to the station in Grund, even in ski-boots. The views from the apartment are simply amazing. It's only a 20 minute walk to the centre of Grindelwald and there is also a regular bus service.
Secondly, the apartment itself is really spacious (we were a group of 8) and fitted out superbly. Everything is provided, from Apple TV, Dvd's, books, right through to all the small kitchen utensils and cleaning materials and even condiments. All you need is right there. The living area and bedrooms are really comfortable and spacious.
Diarmuid was great. From the time of the first contact to our departure he was always really helpful and informative and provided a really nice welcome when we arrived.
We would highly recommend the apartment and will certainly be back.

Breathtaking vies
I could have just stayed and looked at the Eiger all day - however there were so many wonderful things to do within the valley itself. Went up the Jungfrau - 4 minute walk down the hill to the cable car that took us up to a top and then we walked for 1 hour and picked up the last half of the Jungfrau train. It combined a day of exercise and breathtaking views. We walked the canyon and also up First (not sure of the correct spelling). A quick zip line to half way down was worth the money. The apartment is very well located as it is slightly out of town but has good bus connections or a 20 minute walk. The views are amazing and you can hear the cow bells and take in the serenity. The fireplace works extremely efficiently and breakfast on the balcony overlooking the Eiger was a must no matter how cold it was - we just rugged up. Will definitely return. Janet

Perfect location in gorgeous Grindelwald
If you have never been to Grindelwald before, you will not be disappointed. It is simply breathtaking. One of my most favourite places in the world. The mountains are incredible in any weather. We were very lucky and had sunshine for our entire stay.
Chalet Billabong is the ideal place to base your holiday from. The views are incredible from every window. The Chalet has every home comfort and a particular treat was the log burning stove which we lit of an evening. It was very cosy and we had plenty of space for the 6 of us. It was a real home from home. Everything has been thought of, including free Wifi, Apple TV and a selection of DVDs. So very comfortable if the weather turns!
The location of the chalet is perfect. One is not far from town - about 20 minute walk or there are regular buses close by. The chalet is also only a 5 minute walk to the Männlichen gondola which takes you up to the top of mountain for walks in the summer and skiing in the winter.
The property Manager, Diamuid, was very helpful and nothing was too much trouble for him. He gave us lots of advice about shopping and restaurants. Interlaken is also not far away and there are some larger supermarkets and lots of interesting shops there.
We would definitely return and we are already planning our next visit!

Loved it! highly recommend, will be back!
After a long journey we couldn't have been happier to be welcomed by Diarmund to the wonderful Chalet Billabong (who thought of that name?). The views are stupendous. We had a great BBQ in the garden overlooked by the Eiger. The bedrooms have comfortable beds with plenty of room for all of us. With 2 bathrooms and a well stocked kitchen we were really comfortable. We had a wonderful time hiking and the chalet was next to the lift so it was easy to get up the mountain. What scenery! Any information we needed D was happy to supply. We are already planning our trip next year!

Great property. Not so ideal location.
We (2 families, 4 adults, 4 kids - 11, 11, 9 & 8) stayed at this property for 5 days. We decided to stay here in Interlaken and it was our first time to Switzerland.
Pros:
- Breathtaking views of Mount Iger right from your balcony. Great place to sit down and soak it all in with your morning tea/coffee.
- Place was located close to the bus stop to get to Grindelwald train station
- Large enough to accommodate 2 families
- On site everything, place was stocked with everything we could've asked for
- Diarmuid is great and * extremely * helpful. He recommended a few places for us to visit (Berne and Brienz) and that turned out to be great!
- Perfect if you are (re)visiting and want to relax througout the day and go out on occasion or if you are traveling w/o children
Cons:
1. Location is a big negative for first-time visitors if you are planning travel and sightseeing on a daily basis (which was the case with us)
2. Most attractions (Gruyere, Geneva) etc. are 3 1/2 hours each way and this we found was the biggest negative. The bus to Grindelwald leaves 36 minutes past the hour (from the bus-stop closest to the house, a short 3 minute walk). Then you take the train to Interlaken which is a 35 minute ride. They do have good connections when the bus arrives (Grindelwald) and when the train leaves (for Interlaken) but it still adds an hour (Each way) to your trip. For us this was not ideal and the buses only run until around 7pm. The good news is that the walk from Grindelwald station to the house is all absolutely downhill. You can see why one would need to take the bus up.
We had plans to visit the cheese factory in Gruyere and go to Geneva but we had to switch plans and stick to places that were accessible within 2 hrs at the most to allow for more time sight-seeing.
If you are a first-time traveler and plan to visit many cities/places by train, you are better off staying in Interlaken, especially traveling with young kids. Interlaken (OST) is centrally located and connects to all other major cities quite well. Shaves off 2+ hours each day.
