About this bed and breakfast
This sweet casita is nestled on the Big Tesuque Creek among mature cottonwood trees. Escape to this tranquil home after a day in Santa Fe, just 6 miles away or hike right from the door, up the Windsor Trail and into the Santa Fe National Forest. It is called Casita Margarita after my Aunt Margaret who influenced my love of textiles like the ones that decorate the casita! (You can also enjoy a fresh squeezed margarita here too!)
You will find everything you need in this cozy and private home. Tastefully and simply decorated with folk art from around the world, the casita will become your peaceful retreat. The studio style bedroom is furnished with a queen size bed with a new mattress and organic linens. The open living/dining/kitchen has a comfortable queen size pullout sofa set in front of the kiva fireplace. We provide high quality natural bed linens and use natural cleaning products to ensure your stay is healthy and fresh. The charming full bath is located just off the master bedroom. The kitchen is stocked for your use including essential spices and oils and coffee, teas and bubbly water. There is a private sitting area with a table and chairs in the enclosed courtyard for you to enjoy.
Air conditioning will keep you cool for those hot summer nights.
** Please note that this is a studio style home - a wide archway with a linen curtain separates the living spaces from the sleeping/bath. Pullout sofa is in the living area.
Tesuque is a unique village located just north of Santa Fe on Bishops Lodge Road. With traditional culture along the acequia and creek, two restaurants and several galleries nearby, you will have ample sights to explore. The Santa Fe Opera is located just west of Tesuque - a 5 minute drive from the casita. Between the Santa Fe plaza and the casita is the road to the world famous Ten Thousand Waves Japanese spa, to the stunning Santa Fe National Forest and to the Santa Fe Ski Basin. You can also access the National Forest by hiking straight from the casita and up along the Tesuque Creek....you can go a few miles or into the Pecos Wilderness for days.
We would be delighted to have you come and enjoy yourselves in our home when we are traveling!

My husband and I stayed here for 9 nights and I must say it was an absolute joy! Gorgeously decorated casita with a beautiful, private outdoor space. Communication with Melissa was a breeze. We really enjoyed the access to hiking almost right outside the door. And we REALLY appreciate that dogs AND cats are welcome. We would stay here again without hesitation. It’s a super peaceful neighborhood ☺️

Casa Margarita was perfect for a couple! We spent time relaxing outdoors and indoors. The house was clean and supplied with everything we needed. It was a short drive to the plaza area so it made for a great location.

Great get away with excellent hiking nearby. A microwave would have been helpful for those staying more than a couple of days.
Overall, top notch!

Great casita for two people and two dogs. Situated about 200 meters from a US National forest - great for hiking.

This one bedroom casita has a fenced in yard for privacy. This is the perfect size for a couple. My wife and I enjoyed the proximity to downtown Santa Fe (just a few minutes drive) and the nearby hiking trail in a National Forest :)

A sweet little adobe - when we arrived it was snowing so it did take us awhile to get the place warmed up. Very cozy with everything we needed to feel at home. The negative was the fact that it wasnt as secluded as we had expected. Busy neighborhood.

My partner, myself along with my dog enjoyed our stay. The home is very well stocked, roomy and especially cozy. I would absolutely book this place again!

We had the most wonderful time! The Casita Margarita is clean, charming and quiet. Comfy bed, comfy couch/bed. Plenty of room to hang out with our doggers.
All the necessary amenities. Excellent heaters. Coffee maker and nicely equipped kitchen. Lovely yard with a coyote fence that kept our dogs safe from wandering so we could have coffee on the patio and let them sniff about.
What an amazing night sky! Wonderful trees and hills very close. We aren't hikers but there are trails close by. Easily access Santa Fe downtown, too.
Melissa was so helpful and easy to communicate with. Check-in was a breeze as was check-out.
Five stars all around for this lovely, lovely place. We will be back for sure!
The neighborhood is quiet and lovely. Very safe.

This was our second stay at this wonderful casita. We just finished a 6000+ mile road trip and needed the comfort that this retreat provides before we returned home. This casita is perfection…hope to return again in the future. Melissa is the quintessential host! Many thanks for sharing this treasure with us.

We could not have been more pleased with this property. It was well located to the Santa Fe Opera as well as the historic downtown. Actually it was well located to everything Santa Fe and the major highways leading north to Los Alamos and the Bandelier National Historical site. The casita itself is charming, has a well stocked kitchen, and is CLEAN. Our host was most informative as to what was happening in Santa Fe, directed us to two groceries, and made herself available throughout our stay. We had a wonderful time. We are recommending this casita to others.

We had an excellent stay at the casita. A few ants in the bathroom? but easily dealt with. I especially appreciated how easy it was to get in touch with Melissa. We never figured out how to get the one AC to work, but that was probably our ignorance and we were fine without it anyway.
We'd stay there again should we have the chance.

This casita was a delightful surprise: so much more than I expected. The attention to so many small details added up to a truly wonderful experience. Melissa was incredibly helpful in answering questions before the trip and assuring all was well upon my arrival. And Cindy is incredibly thoughtful and generous in the many ways she weaves a tapestry of hospitality into her home.
Tusuque Canyon is very unique and special for the Santa Fe area: tucked away in a classy neighborhood, next to a stream, a wonderful hiking trail within walking distance, dark night skies, and quietude.
La Margarita proved one of the very best lodging experiences I’ve enjoyed!

I really can’t begin to express the amount of gratitude I have for rescuing me a week early from a different rental that was truly awful during my local home remodel!
WiFi and cable TV were very reliable (unlike the previous place) and the artistic details & attention to guests’ potential needs made it so easy to finally relax and focus on some long overdue ME time!
Melissa was incredibly responsive, even delivering a new toaster oven and hot plate the same day when the gas oven/range went out. It took a bit of creativity on my part planning single serve meals with no microwave for reheating leftovers and my (admitted) laziness hating to hand wash dishes, but I digress.
I imagine most guests will be eating the majority of their meals out during their stay. On that note, I really MUST recommend the Tesuque Village Market!! It’s been a long time family favorite and such quick and easy access from the casita!!
Thank you again for the wonderful accommodations! I look forward to returning regularly when I need a staycation and more me time!! ❤️

We have stayed in this fine Casita in Tesuque two years in a row. Its really cozy, warm, and very light for a traditional adobe casita. its only about 12 minutes from everything by car. The quiet nights out in the Valley are the reason we love this place. Very well appointed with nice dishes, furniture, and decent kitchenware. The brand new mini-splits made a huge difference as the weather was starting to get cold. Melissa is a very accommodating and thoughtful host.

Melissa’s casita is a wonderful and charming place in Tesuque that’s close yet just far enough from downtown Santa Fe to make us feel like we’re isolated. Yet, wishing a few minutes, some great experiences and restaurants. While some of our plans were sidetracked due to mother nature raining on the balloon fiesta and our hike, the casita became our wonderful relaxation place for late morning sleep-ins, relaxing while reading a book and awesome fires in the evening. Things we don’t get much time for back home. It was the perfect place to relax in our home away from home while we enjoyed the awesome experiences in Santa Fe. We highly suggest the casita if you want (need) to relax. Melissa’s approach to service was just perfect. She met us on our arrival, reached out to see if we needed anything and that’s something that every STR owner or manager should be doing. Just adds that extra touch to an already perfect stay.

Clean, quiet, comfortable, peaceful, great hosts, great location....what more could you ask for? The Casa Margarita has everything you could need! It's only a 15 minute drive to the Santa Fe plaza and if you want to hike you have access to the National Forest trails only a half mile walk down a quiet road. The Casa itself is very comfortable with great amenities, well stocked kitchen and a great little outdoor patio area. Very attentive hosts as well. Thanks for a great stay!

We really enjoyed our stay in Tesuque! It was a quick trip into Santa Fe and a beautiful setting!
This casita is your happy place! It is decorated with color and happy touches. Melissa is an excellent hostess, she provided apples from her tree and flowers from her garden. The coffee is wonderful and the outdoor seating is peaceful. I can’t think of anything that would make it better - we can’t wait to return!

Pros:
-Responsive property manager
-Location!
-Cozy, well-decorated home
Cons:
-Not a good value - expensive for what it is.
-VERY close to the next-door neighbors. I could hear them cough.
-Needs updating - shower heads, paint, tile grout, no microwave (probably too toxic)
-Sugar ants! There are instructions on how to treat them with non-toxic chemical but I basically ended up being the exterminator.
-Consistent pot stench. It's legal there but it smelled so intense and got stuck inside the house. I indicated I would just deal with it and I was told not to bring "toxic" air fresheners in
-Which brings to me to the property manager who communicated (too) often but was unclear in what she was saying or asking. When I brought up the smell of pot, her response was "I'm not sure what you want me to do about it... I will come over and smell it." No thanks
