About this apartment rental
Brilliant white are the whitewashed houses in the Moorish-style old town of Ostuni, with its labyrinthine streets. As one can discover from afar already and it also promise guide, dominates the White City at 300 meters elevation and proud, like an oriental "Kasbah" up in the sunlight.
However, if you initially stay in Marina di Ostuni, you can expect a home that has a virtual attachment to the Orient: the Porta D'Oriente Suite. Extensive renovation and reconstruction work was necessary to create the once inconspicuous scales of a oceanfront Masseria a small charming home with flair (completion in September 2008).
Actually, the name Mare di Stelle was originally for the apartment in the very first restoration phase allotted (sea star) - the thought of the proximity to the sea and its sparkle in the moonlight. But fell in line with the prevailing style of beach apartment but ultimately the choice to Porta D'Oriente Suite.
Oriental - Mediterranean - rustic - individual
Although the apartment is decorated in oriental style, the Porta D'Oriente presents, so to speak, the gateway to the Orient (and the geographical location of Puglia accordingly) without doubt. As a very successful and interesting meeting of cultures
This individually designed gates is accompanied by two massive columns with white stone domes which can recall distant mosques, has found its place next to a green cactus fig tree. The outdoor area or the terrace of the holiday home is bordered by a dry stone wall in warm tones such as sand and terracotta, which is characteristic of both Puglia and Arab countries and the host gives a certain security. Special attention is the front of the residence, in the middle of the rivet studded, curved door in sea green clay has the input. The oval windows have been expertly staffed with irregular shaped stones.
An elongated seat from white masonry, which is decorated with oriental cushions invites with a nice glass of red wine Pugliese, sensual listen to the sound of the sea. From here you have a partial sea view (from the front of the building, only a few steps away, is the direct access to the sea by a sand beach cove). On the pitch, guests will find a furniture made of wood, which lends itself to romantic dinners by candlelight. The warm light of the stone wall and bench combined with a series of lanterns underline the homely as individual ambience outdoors.
The newly renovated Holiday Porta D'Oriente suite is suitable for two people (or possibly with a toddler). Since the apartment also has air conditioning (hot / cold), it can also be good and take advantage of the cooler fall and winter months.
With much love and passion the owners designed the apartment. Fine materials such as travertine and other natural stones were used. The beautiful Pietra di Gerusalemme, a natural stone from Jerusalem, for example, as a sand-colored, slightly yellowish shimmering stone floor. Many ideas and inspirations as the brick, Moresque double bed can unmistakably feel the strong penchant for interior design. Above the bed wall mounted with colorful majolica from Persia decorative one line. Fascinating light effects are from the subtle perforated walls and ceilings, a traditional handicrafts from Morocco.
The brick kitchen buffet line is covered with a beautiful stone slab of yellow travertine, and also the saffron yellow wall color blends harmoniously into the image. If you decide to dine inside in between times, there are also two bar stools in colonial style. The kitchen is very well equipped (ceramic hob, oven, fridge with freezer, glasses, dishes and plenty of utensils).
The hosts wore the individual patterns that originate from the oriental home decor, from traveling together: The oriental mirror with elaborately decorated pattern, an image and some accessories derived for example from London, the two ancient prints, however, were discovered at an antique market in Tuscany. The Kelimkissen were specially brought in the White City of Ostuni. Otherwise easy to buy. Instead of a conventional wardrobe here ivory canopy comes with an attractive orange fabric hangings to wonderful effect. (Custom-made soils in the niche serve as a repository). In order to preserve the originality of the location, was chosen rustic-style walls with non-smooth surface.
A smooth transition into the bathroom features a white sliding door. Here, too, were deliberately omitted classical flow. Only the shower (crystal door) was alternatively lined with travertine mosaic tiles. On the brick Beck table there is a washbasin, also made of travertine. Noble fittings, a large mirror and a natural stone floor refine the bathroom. (Windows, shoot Heating, Hairdryer available).
Porta D'Oriente Suite which offers a very personal atmosphere. Wall safe, washing machine and ironing facilities are available. One parking space is available to the guest within the plot are available. The ground-floor apartment Porta D'Oriente is located slightly lower than the adjacent apartment with patio.
Villanova with its picturesque old fishing harbor and the adjacent Camerini where the apartment is located on a promontory, still retains its original character. Here you can still watch fishermen who go out with their boats on the sea and their polipi beat after the catch on the rocks so that they can be well prepared in the kitchen. Apulia, the Mecca of Mediterranean cuisine!

Nice studio, with some drawbacks
This is a quaint studio on the Ostuni coast, very close to several nice beaches. Note that it is not where it is shown on the VRBO map (in the heart of Ostuni). The apartment itself is small but functional, and well kept.
Unfortunately it does not get very good airflow and has no A/C. We had to ask the property manager to provide us a fan so we could sleep at night. I would not recommend this place in the hottest summer months unless you're comfortable sleeping in the heat.
The most frustrating parts of the stay were not the apartment itself, but the amenities and check in process. Check-in has to be done in person, and the woman who brought us our keys was unavailable in the time window when we arrived in Ostuni. The property manager explained this to us the day of our check-in, so we didn't have time to arrange for other plans. When the woman did arrive with the keys, she did not speak English and was trying to explain several things which were very difficult to interpret.
More frustratingly, there was no wifi available for our stay, despite it being listed as an amenity, so we had to use international data to get online. Also, the apartment should absolutely come with a fan provided.
Finally, we accidentally switched off the hot water in the bathroom by flipping an unlabeled light switch. When we mentioned the lack of hot water to the property manager, she didn't explain the switch to us so we went without warm showers for a day before the plumber came to explain the situation. A label on the switch is just another simple improvement that could have made the experience much better.
Overall the apartment has potential but our experience was just not great.

authentisches Apulien
