TWO BEAR RETREAT is located just off of Idaho Highway 20 at Island Park Village Resort (IPVR) near the 5th Tee of the IPVR Golf Course. The location is fantastic in the summer and the county dutifully plows the road to the cabin for easy access in the winter. The cabin is about half a mile west of Robin’s Roost (gas, groceries, etc.) on North Big Springs Loop Road. There is a snowmobile and ATV rental store within ½ mile from the cabin. There is ample parking for snowmobile or ATV trailers in the front. No need to continuously load and off load your sleds. Just park your sled in the backyard, get dressed in the warmth of the cabin and then enjoy easy access to over 600 miles of groomed snowmobile trails to places like Meadow Creek Lodge, Two Tops Mountain, or follow the old abandoned train tracks through mountain passes to West Yellowstone.
Fly fishing is world class at Henry's Lake and the Madison River. Visit 'Johnny Sacks' cabin by snowmobile or ATV and see big trout at the Big Springs Loop bridge! In the summer, float the Lazy River at Mack's Inn or travel to the Galletin River for some white water excitement. You just might see bear, moose, elk, wolves, red fox, bald eagles, or other wild animals in the local area while riding your ATV even without venturing to Yellowstone Park.
Things to see and do:
BIG SPRINGS; The water flows from beneath the Yellowstone Plateau at a constant temperature year round. The Idaho Fish and Game plant fish in the river at this point. Large fish can be viewed from the Big Springs Bridge. Also located in this area is Johnny Sacks cabin. There is a visitor’s center and it is open for tours during the summer.
YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK; Idaho borders two of this country’s most spectacular and geologically interesting National Parks, Yellowstone and Grand Teton, both are within an easy drive. Yellowstone, with its famous geysers, hot springs and abundant wildlife, was the world’s first National Parks. HARRIMAN STATE PARK; This is one of Idaho’s latest scenic attractions. Located just 15 miles south of Island Park Village Resort, the 11,217 acre park joins 19 other state parks administered by the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation.
HENRY’S LAKE STATE PARK; High in a mountain bowl at an elevation of 6,470 feet lays Henry’s Lake. The lake is within Henry’s Lake State Park and surrounded by lush meadow and the towering Sawtooth Mountains. The shallow lake is known for big trout catches. Henry’s Fork of the Snake River originates at the outlet of the famous Henry’s Lake, just under the Continental Divide between Idaho and Montana. This stream is world renowned as one of the best fly fishing areas in the world. On your way to Quake Lake and Hebgen Lake, stop by Henry’s Lake fish hatchery and see the large trout running and the work done at the hatchery.
MESA FALLS (UPPER AND LOWER); Want a relaxing day? Pack a picnic lunch and follow the following directions to Mesa Falls. Upon leaving the resort turn left on Hwy 20 and continue for about 15 miles Upper and Lower Mesa Falls are a short 12 miles off Hwy 20. Water plunges 114 feet to fill the river canyon. The drop at Lower Mesa Falls is 65 feet. For a true adventure, you can hike down to the river bottom and enjoy the spectacular view first hand.
ISLAND PARK RESERVOIR; This large reservoir is popular for boating, fishing and water skiing. Visitors may drive on top of the dam for scenic views of the Centennial Mountains and Box Canyon approximately 7 miles away. SAWTELL PEAK; Sawtell Peak is approximately 15 miles from the resort with a breathtaking view and a number of miniature high altitude flowers to see in the summer. Riding snowmobiles on Sawtell Peak is prohibited in most areas and is very hazardous.
LAKEVIEW LODGE AND RED ROCK BIRD REFUGE;
Both of these are another must see while in the area. Follow Hwy 20 north about five miles to the Red Rock Road. Lakeview is 39 miles on the Red Rock Road, which is a gravel road. The lodge at Lakeview offers horseback riding in the summer months. Food and gas are also available. In the winter, it is a spectacular snowmobile trip.
CRATERS OF THE MOON; A sea of lava flows with scattered islands of cinder cones and sagebrush describes this “weird and scenic Landscape” known as Craters of the Moon. Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve contain three major lava fields covering almost a half a million acres. These remarkably well preserved volcanic features resulted from geologic events that appear to have happened yesterday and will likely continue tomorrow. Located 85 miles west of Idaho Falls, or take Hwy 33 out of Rexburg and go west to Arco.
VIRGINIA CITY AND NEVADA CITY; Leaving Island Park Village Resort turn right on Hwy 20 and follow it to the junction of Hwy 87, turn left when you reach the end of Hwy 87, follow Hwy 287 along the beautiful Madison River to Ennis, MT. From Ennis, go west on Hwy 287 to Virginia City, an old time town that has been restored. One mile west of Virginia City is famous Nevada City, with its Chinese section of town, the two-story out-house at the end of the Hotel Veranda and Opera Hall with all the musical memorabilia. Ride the narrow gauge railroad between these fun cities, with the old time railroad cars including the Cathedral and the Pullman car. These cities are open only during the summer months.
LEWIS & CLARK CAVERNS; Lewis and Clark Caverns State Park is Montana’s first and best known state park featuring one of the largest known limestone caverns in the Northwest. Naturally air conditioned, these spectacular caves, line with stalactites, stalagmites, columns and flowstone, are electrically lighted and safe to visit. Above ground, a self-guided nature trail provides opportunities to understand the natural surroundings.
Near the Missouri Headwaters State Park, the waters of the Jefferson, Madison and Gallatin Rivers flow together to form a living monument to the discoverers of the headwaters, Captains William Lewis and Meriwether Clark. Lewis and Clark Cavers were named in honor of the West’s early explorers, but were actually undiscovered until the 1890’s. Regular tours of the caves began in the late1940’s and now have thousands of visitors each year. The entire tour takes about two hours. Attached

We just came back from an awesome family trip to Yellowstone. We loved this house. It was perfect for our group of 10. It was my in-laws in their 70’s, 3 of us in our 40’s and 5 teen kids. The living space has 3 living areas which helped us have room to spread out. The kitchen was well stocked & easy to cook in and the hot tub was fun for the kids & adults at the end of an active day. We loved the convenience of the grocery store less than a mile away and the drive to West Yellowstone & the park entrance was only about 20 minutes away. Perfect home base for our trip! Only downside was the 3rd floor got really hot in July. There are ample fans and windows to open. But we just stuck the kids up there and everyone was fine, haha.
Highly recommend this house!

I would recommend anyone to stay here because it has so much space and the amenities are great! The location is so convenient to the only grocery store in Island park. The wrap around driveway is a need on this fairly busy street so that is a definite plus. My family had a wonderful time here and would stay here again.

We had a group of 8 that came Westbound to ride the hills. The place was clean and easy to use. Snow was deep and the hot tub was perfect for a day of riding.

This property was perfect for our vacation. I am always worried about paying so much and having terrible beds, but all the beds were great. We would definitely recommend this property and use it again should we vacation here again.

We enjoyed the space (for 11 guests) but a bit dated. Closets were dark, hot tub cover was extremely heavy, fridge door missing bottom shelf, dryer was frustrating to operate, .... all ws doable but inconvenient. No real yard for kids to play in.

Great cabin for family gathering
We stayed 5 days over the Christmas holiday. Beautiful cabin for our large group. I do recommend having access to snow mobiles if youre saying in the winter time. We were snowed in for a day or two. We enjoyed the hot tub! There's a small grocery store near by that's pretty well stocked.

Excellent stay!
Our family really enjoyed the stay at this cabin. Perfect space, clean and lots to do to keep the kids busy. We liked that there is a bathroom on every level and the entertainment on every level, to accommodate everyone.
We really were just 20 minutes away from Yellowstone and that was very convenient.

Property location was really good
We enjoyed staying at this property. We had enough bedrooms and baths for our family. It was quiet and very nice. There was one shower that did not drain and we were standing in water before the showers was over. There were a few things we weren’t aware of. For example: didn’t have extra trash bags, tide pods, extra paper towels, etc. We were good because I took extra. I guess we are use to beach houses.

Great cabin for a family reunion!
Excellent location for our family with children ranging in ages from 10 mo to 17. Close to floating Big springs and a small grocery store. The host was fabulous—very accommodating and responsive. The property had plenty of parking in front and a large grassy backyard for the kids to run around on. The numerous inside amenities came in handy because it rained some everyday— ping pong, pool, several large TVs to watch the Olympics, and hot tub. The kitchen was stocked with everything you would ever need. The crockpot came in handy. It was great to have 3 bathrooms with so many people— one on each floor. I would highly recommend this property to anyone. Our trip was a huge success!!

The house was beautiful and perfect for our family. It had everything amenity that we needed. We would definitely stay again at Trent's vacation home. Thanks for the memories! Anne W.

The Cabin in Heaven!
This cabin was perfect for our family gathering in Island Park Idaho! This cabin has a little wear n tare but that just adds to the character and fun to this property. I would not hesitate to use this property again in the future. The size was perfect, the location to the surrounding area is perfect and the host was always quick to respond.

Wonderful time!
The water at the cabin was ice cold, fresh and tasted great.
Even w/o AC, with fans and night-time temps n the 40s, it was very comfortable.
Mud room provided a lot of storage space for coolers, so the kitchen and living room areas weren't cluttered.
The bbq wasn't in the best of shape, we notified the owners and they brought a new one to the property within few hours. Thank you!

Great Price, Great Location.
We were traveling out west to see Yellowstone and the Tetons. It was two families consisting of 4 adults and 6 kids. We stayed in this home 3 nights while visiting YNP each day. It was perfect for us and had everything we needed. Everyone had a bed which was a bonus since everyone was exhausted when we would get home at night. It's in a great area and took us 20mins to get from the house to the YNP entrance. It was super simple beautiful drive and would stay here again. It was great being able to do laundry as well on a 9 day trip!

Excellent stay
Was easy to get to. Drive way was cleared and large enough for two snowmobile trailers and trucks. Slept everyone comfortably. Was a great place to stay for winter activities. Trail head was just down the road. We would stay here again.

Fantastic Family Getaway
This property was perfect in every way. It was extremely clean and well taken care of. From the minute we walked in, we felt at home. There was plenty of room for our family to spread out in various areas of the home to play games, watch movies, laugh, and have fun. We would book this property again and highly recommend it!

The property was very nice and very convenient for our family.
We really enjoyed the property and would rent it again. It was on the golf course, near a gas station and store, and near the river where we rafted down Henry’s Fork. There was great parking for trailers and RVs.

Beautiful small town.
We came to see Yellowstone and ended up doing much more. The last day we changed our plans and rented ATV’s since they are so popular out here. Spent all day riding and swimming in the cold rivers. At the end of the day it really paid off when we spotted two moose drinking from Big Springs. Great time. Thanks for allowing us the use of your home.

Roomy Fun
We had a wonderful time being able to have all 18 of us in a home together. We really loved the pool and ping pong table. The kitchen and amenities had everything we needed.
It wasn't as clean as we have had with other rentals and have come to expect. The sheets and towels were damp and beginning to smell. We had to wash sheets and towels. The upper floor does get hot in the summer but can be mitigated with fans provided. No A/C in the home.
