Lovely old pub with art deco features everywhere. Manager / owner was very friendly and helpful. Gave us our room a little early so we could freshen up and put on our wedding clothes in time to get to the wedding. The free continental breakfast was fine. Lunch (Bangers & Mash) was good too.
Door rattled loudly if windy with window open.

Location good. Breakfast okay, but could be improved. Rooms small, but clean and warm. Good meals from restaurant.
An extra shower for the females upstairs.

We stayed in a triple room with private bathroom, room was spacious and bathroom great.
Check in was lacking, I understand that the property was short staffed but she gave me the key and started to walk away, k had to ask about how to get to the room, breakfast etc
We didn’t know that the restaurant was only running a limited menu due to being short staffed or that there were other options available in Ranfurly.
Was disappointed that the room rate included continental breakfast but we couldn’t find this anywhere.

Great location. Adequate room.
I was right next to the men's bathroom and the walls are thin. The pillows were fairly thin too!

love the warm old world charm, wouldn’t want to be anywhere else on a cold Maniototo night.
nothing to comment

How clean and tidy the place was

On the main road but really quiet. Super friendly hosts and good bike storage.
A pro and con I guess - the dinner service was quick! We were served up our dessert and dinner at the same time.

the cleanest most inviting hotel (pub) accommodation we as a whanau have ever stayed at.

Very reasonably priced; friendly staff at reception, the restaurant and bar; everywhere was very clean; lovely meal in restaurant and great continental breakfast included in the price.
Will definitely be staying here again!
Can't think of anything. Very happy with the stay.

Convenient, was as expected for a country hotel. Good value for a group.

location excellent.
whilst it is very clean it is very dated and needs some sort of overhaul. I think they are missing an opportunity to cater to all the cyclists passing through on the rail trail, particularly tapping into great food opportunities.

I guess it's a seasonal hotel and we were out of season so nobody seemed to care if we were there or not. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable and the heater warmed the room quickly. Nice towels replaced the second day.
Empty flower pots, dead flowers hanging in the hanging baskets, unswept steps outside and a very dark cold interior when we stepped in and a less than warm welcome. The meal was expensive and disappointing and we were encouraged to go to the public bar so the fire place didnt need to be lit in the dining room, where we sat at an awful table with too low chairs and listened to the swearing and carry on of a group of locals. The date pudding was microwaved to a crisp, with hardly any sauce, the vegetables were mostly frozen vege, the gravy was commercial and sparse, but the roast potatoes were delicious. Breakfast was another level of undrinkable instant coffee, packaged peaches that tasted strange and nice toast. No table cloths, no heating, half the light bulbs were dead. The whole feeling was that we were at a closing hotel whose proprietors had lost interest.
