It was large
There are much nicer places in El Cuyo, for waaay less money. This place needs a serious updating from the 60’s.
The caretaker doesn’t speak or understand a word of English… and when messaged, I often would get “ no comprende inglés”. Not very helpful, considering I had to message often for issues with the place.
When we arrived, we had to find wifi to message the caretaker to meet us… took over 1.5 hrs to get her there. There is NO 24hr front desk.. as mentioned on the site.
She wanted 1800mxnfor a deposit, but had no change to give me back , so it was 2000. The booking add said $90 , but it also said 24/hr front desk service, and took a credit card. So be prepared to have cash.
When we arrived, I was then shown a photo of the rules (which had a different hotel name) and that we should treat this as an Abnb… totally a “bait and switch”. It is no where near an Abnb status.
We only had hot water for the first 4 days out of 9. I messaged her every day about it. The caretaker came over, looked, (but had to wait for the guy living in the back to come home) (because it’s in his area) and then I didn’t hear anything back from them. The shower tap was leaking 24/7. We only had 1/2 bottle of water in the kitchen. The microwave is unsafe, and when plugged in makes “snap crackling” noises without being used. There are only 2 small elements working on the stove. We ran out of propane on the 3rd day of being there. There is absolutely no salt/pepper/sugar etc… like any other place we’ve stayed at. We were given the garbage bag that was in the bin on arrival, and I was told I needed to buy more if I needed any.. we were only there 9 days… I was not buying a package of 25 garbage bags! I had to ask where to put the garbage, as there’s no bin outside… so I was told to leave it on the ground by the BBQ. There is only an A/C in the bedroom, and a fan in the living room.

Did not like this property because it was misrepresented in the Booking.com ad.
Ad was deceptive. It showed a photo of property sitting directly on a sand beach. However this is another property that owner lists on Booking.com. The offered property was not on a sand beach as in the photo. It was across a street. Additionally, the property was not clean, poorly stocked, and certainly not an ambiance of a beach property. Property was also very hard to find. It had a sign tucked away ant not visible from the street. No name or even house number could be seen from the road.

We stayed in Hacienda El Cuyo and could not have been happier. The house is truly beautiful and comfortable.

The house is very close to the beach, has all facilities that you can think off, Magali and her husband are very friendly and helpful contact persons, nice atmosphere, very clean
An outdoor shower to wash off the sand from the beach would be a nice addition

-- The owner is extremely helpful and accommodating!
-- The location is great.
-- The house is very charming and looks like an old Yucatan hacienda.
-- The is an extra room in the villa that can be rented together so the place works great for both smaller family (a couple) and a larger family.

Good location close to beach, but not on the beach. 10 minute walking distance to pier and downtown. Quiet, we rented bikes for a day and that was fun. Neighbors were all very friendly and it was very safe. We had friends tell us to bring mosquito repellent, but it was not bad in December. The house had recently been painted inside and it was clean and accommodations were average, but a fair price.
My husband was sick for 24 hours and we thing it was from the water bottle provided without a lid and that had just been filled up from who knows where. I had to initiate communication with owner and it was not the best communication, or directions. Kitchen had most basic things needed, but not cutting board. The staff do not speak English and our Spanish is limited so it was a challenge.

Location is fantastic, the house is nice, the bed is big and comfortable. Wifi is OK.
There is a lodger in the house and at times it didn’t feel private enough.
Beach towels and hand soup weren’t provided.

A dream place. Practically right on the beach. Many thanks to Remigia for delicious breakfasts. Every morning freshly cooked in our kitchen. We felt at home.

Location was excellent. A minute walk to the beach. Nice screened in patio to sit out on a t night. huge living room and kitchen. You could comfortably fit a family of five inside with the two couch beds in the living room.

THe location is perfect. Beautiful and relaxing ... a one minute walk to the gorgeous beach! We have stayed here before and the housekeeper is now our good friend. The house is big and the bed is comfortable,. The screened porch is fantastic.
The toilet barely flushed. Only two burners on the stove worked. There is a single tap (ancient) for the kitchen sink. No hot water. The electrical system has not been updated in decades.
