About this cabin rental
With 360 degree views of the Swan Range and Mission Mountains serving as a backdrop, the Lazy Bean on private 230 acre ranch, is on the edge of one of the wildest, most primitive areas in the lower 48 states.
Elk and whitetail deer habituate the sub-irrigated hay meadows and although rare, moose have been known to drop by. Muskrats, mink and otters are established residents of Smith Creek which runs through the property which also offers an intrepid angler a chance to test their skill against wily brook trout. Sandhill cranes, blue herons, bald and golden eagles are common sight (to better view this parade of animals please check out meadowlandranchmontana on Instagram). Some nights the wolves howl, the coyotes yip and the owls hoot.
A unique feature of this working hay ranch is it's location next to the aforementioned primitive area which we call "The Bob", but is officially labelled "The Bob Marshall Wilderness". The Bob is over 1 million acres and extends at much as 60 miles along the continental divide.
The Lazy Bean offers easy access to this as well as being just a few miles away from the Swan River - the home of Montana's most famous fish, the bull trout. And yes, there are bears. Grizzly and Black. The main ranch, Meadowland, is situated in grizzly bear corridor that has acted as a protective buffer to promote the endangered species recovery. DNA from hairs collected on sight assisted in this effort.
The previous long term tenants of The Lazy Bean were involved with conservation and compiled a few videos of various bears at a game camera. One even has a wolf acting as ursine wingman (youtube wolves traveling with grizzly bear swan valley montana)
Other nearby things to do include hikes in the Mission Mountains (which also have glaciers - each lake in that range is an individually melted glacier, several of which support micro-climates), hikes into The Swans (think Holland falls) and if boating on the list, the valley hosts some gems including Lindbergh, Holland and Seeley Lake. This list goes on: Flathead lake (the largest non-manmade lake west of Mississippi) is only 40 miles away with the very cute hamlet of Bigfork nestled in a pretty bay acting as a maritime hub. Glacier National Park is about 90 miles from us to the north while Yellowstone is 300 miles south.
The cabin itself sleeps 4 very comfortably in 2 queen sized beds. There is a day bed on the main floor that sleeps 2. Pet friendly and although we don't have any RV facilities they are welcome as there is ample space to park. Cell phones work, there is wifi and a washer/dryer. No TV.
Snowmobilers can directly access Forest Service Land from our ranch.
The Lazy Bean has a 2 night minimum and if there is interest a secondary cabin with a bunk bed and bathroom can be made available for a small additional cost. In the photostream it is the small brown "Hunter's Cabin".

We absolutely love The Lazy Bean! It’s nestled perfectly in the heart of nature. The cabin offers an unforgettable retreat that perfectly blends comfort with the raw beauty of the wilderness. From the moment you arrive, the breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains will captivate your senses. Each sunrise and sunset paints the sky in vibrant hues, offering a serene backdrop that seems straight out of a postcard.
The cabin is perched in an idyllic location, surrounded by towering trees and lush greenery, ensuring unparalleled privacy. It's a haven for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The peaceful surroundings are only enhanced by the occasional visits from local wildlife. We were lucky enough to spot deer grazing nearby, along with Sandhill Cranes, and wild turkeys every morning and evening.
But what truly sets this place apart is the host. Andy’s attention to detail and genuine care for his guests is evident in every aspect of the cabin. He provided thoughtful recommendations for local hikes and attractions, making our stay even more special. Andy’s hospitality made us feel right at home from the very beginning. We have been twice already, and we’re already looking forward to returning for a third time!

Absolutely was a perfect cabin in the best location for our Montana getaway! We like our quiet and seclusion and it was a wonderful spot to do so! Andy was so kind and informative with great hiking spots, things to do, and best places to grab some grub! We sat every night on the balcony after long days of hiking nearby and watched the sunset as the “locals” (deer) wandered through the property! Serene, peaceful, and quiet were what we were looking for, and Lazy Bean checked all those boxes and some!!

Beautiful cabin and ranch. Andy was very friendly, communicative, and helpful. The weather was hot when we were there and the cabin has no AC, but the cabin stays pretty cool (especially the lower level). There was a storm the last night we were there and a widespread power outage, but Andy made sure we were ok.

The Lazy Bean is a gorgeous cabin with stunning views! We came from Missouri to visit family and will undoubtedly stay there again. The cabin is very spacious, allowing us to host family in the evenings and not feel crowded. The kitchen is well stocked with most anything a person would need and there is a charcoal bbq for grilling. The host/owner, Andy, went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and well informed about the area. He has decor from around the world and books galore!
We also rented the Hunter’s cabin for additional sleeping space but beyond the two bedrooms at the Lazy Bean, there is ample space for others to sleep as well. That being said, The Hunter’s Cabin was also exceptional and just a short walk away.
We’ll be back! Thanks for everything, Andy!

Our family loved staying at the Lazy Bean Cabin! Our kids had a blast exploring the ranch and all the fun books and games in the cabin. Andy was a wonderful host, so generous and fun, and had great recommendations on activities in the area. We didn't want to leave!

The cabin is constructed of a size of logs that we don't see anymore. If you are a reader, the book collection is beyond amazing. As is, of course, the view from the upstairs deck. It is two levels, with the bedrooms downstairs and the living space up stairs. A small but very well stocked grocery and deli is 5 miles away.
It is so quiet.
Andy, the owner, is very available and helpful.

My family and I enjoyed our stay very much. Andy was friendly and funny. The cabin is very interesting and has so much to entertain you if you have to stay indoors for some reason. Plenty of books and games and the view from the deck and windows is incredible. A few things to note: 1) the washer/dryer combo is one machine that does both functions and took hours to do one, small load of laundry. 2) the kitchen is stockedthere was no lock for one of the exterior doors. 4) Andy wasn't joking, verizon service was useless.

It's our third visit to Andy's cabin, and every time we go, it's always great. The location is fantastic, the cabin is cozy, and Andy is a superb host—friendly, inviting, and extremely helpful.

Can’t recommend this stay enough. Breathtaking views, cozy accommodations, and such a kind and generous host!
We arrived on Easter Sunday with the local merc already closed for the day. Due to my poor planning (and honest distraction from the gorgeous views on the drive in) we had no supplies for the night. Andy brought groceries from his own home to get us to morning. We were blown away by his generosity. Andy also took the time to show us around the Ranch, listen intently to my 8 y/o jabber, and give helpful advice on the area.
My kids have dubbed this trip “The time Andy saved Spring break” and it couldn’t be more fitting.

This was our second time visiting the Lazy Bean. The only disappointment was lack of snow. It was peaceful, restful, and beautiful. I had fun exploring all the books and hanging by the fireplace. We will definitely be back.

We had another lovely Thanksgiving stay at the Lazy Bean Cabin. We played games, shared meals, hiked Holland Lake and Falls (a 15-20 minute drive from the property), and enjoyed reading by the windows overlooking the mountains. Andy was communicative, flexible, and such a great host!

Went for a fall getaway but it ended up being freezing and snowy, but the cabin was warm and cozy, just what we needed to relax!

This cabin and it’s location was the perfect spot for our mountain/wilderness getaway. We explored the area after receiving some tips from the homeowner, who was very hospitable.
We recommend Glacier’s “Going to the Sun” road (you need a reservation), Flathead Lake (travel to the other side) and Holland Lake/Falls (be sure to hike to the falls).
We spent our days exploring and nights sitting around the fire pit while sipping wine. We brought our telescope and it did not disappoint. The night was black and the sky looked like a photo from National Geographic, filled with countless planets and stars. We were even able to see the Milkyway without the scope. We saw many shooting stars and satellites moving through the atmosphere. It was truly spectacular.
The cabin was authentic and fun, not fancy, but perfect. Nature lovers will never want to leave. We have already started developing our 10-year plan to relocate to the area (it’s that great).
If you are hesitant to book this place, we say take the plunge and go for it. You will not be sorry.
Happy Travels,
The Marksberry’s

Most amazing place!! The cabin was everything we thought it would be and more. There was a TV in one of the closets, but we never tried to figure out if or how we could hook it up as we were too busy drinking in the views and enjoying unplugging from it all! Andy [the host/owner] is awesome!! He made us feel so welcome, was a great source of knowledge about history [so interesting...] as well as current trails and best restaurants. Our 3 big dogs had an amazing time too!! Whitetail deer played in the meadow every morning. Truly the best vacation and can't wait to go back....caution a visit here may change your life outlook and plans!! [LOL]

We had a great family get together at the Lazy Bean. Beautiful location, lovely cabin - the perfect get away. Andy greeted us shortly after we arrived and was very communicative throughout. We loved perusing the extensive book collection and fun decor. We all hope to be back soon.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Andy's property and would recommend to others. We were a group of 4 adults in town for a friend's wedding. The house was very spacious for 4 adults and included all essentials. The property was in a remote region of the state and secluded - it was extremely quiet and peaceful. Andy's communication was excellent and he provided local recommendations and asked if there was anything else he could do to make our stay more comfortable.

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our stay. Andy is a wonderful host. He is very kind and willing to help in any way that he can. His tips for things to do were spot on for our family. The cabin is perfect for a mountain getaway. Seeing the horses in the field every morning and evening was a beautiful site. The only negative was having to leave. Everything was just as listed, if not better.

Lazy Bean Cabin is a rustic type of log cabin filled with loads of books, pillows, and all types of interesting items surrounded by spectacular views of mountains. Andy is quick to respond to any problem such as the water pump failed one morning. He had someone there within 20 min. take get the pump back on line. Before coming to the Lazy Bean we were concerned about not having cable TV, but soon realized there are other things in life beside television.
Andy was the perfect host and if you are lucky enough you might meet Mom.

What a fabulous stay at the Lazy Bean! Highly recommend! Andy, our host, was amazing and met us as soon as we arrived to make sure we were set. The next day Andy took us for a tour/walk of the amazing ranch. In addition to relaxing in the mountain air and enjoying the views from the cabin’s deck, we went rafting at Glazier Raft Co, horseback riding at Swan Lake Outfitters, hiked Holland Falls, and explored Glazier National Park. The cabin was very well stocked and we had everything we needed. This experience of staying in a true log cabin has made beautiful memories for our entire family.

We had such a great time at this beautiful property. Andy, the host, was very welcoming and helpful. The views are absolutely stunning, fishing spots abound. Great place to use a spotting scope, as well as hiking. We will definitely return.

The Lazy Bean is an upside down house. Lobby, two bedrooms, bathroom and laundry room on the ground floor. The whole of the top floor is huge, comprising enormous sitting room, kitchen and loo.
The kitchen is very well equipped, including good range of good quality pans, crock pot, cutlery and crockery.
Beds very comfortable. Fantastic gas fire that heats the whole house.
Andy is a great host, charismatic, and generous with his time and enthusiastic about his property. He took us on an extensive tour of his ranch in his Polaris ATV.
We loved our stay at the Lazy Bean and would go there tomorrow if we could.

We enjoyed a quiet getaway in Condon to stay at Andy’s ranch in the Lazy Bean cabin. The cabin welcomed us with all of
the common comforts of home, rustic charms, an enormous collection of books (bring your readers ;) and amazing Mountain View’s. Excellent bird watching and daily hikes on the farm with Andy & his pup Sis made our stay a genuine treat. We look forward to our next visit!

My wife and I had a very relaxing time, at the Lazy Bean. Andy made check-in a breeze and then let us enjoy the peace and beauty his land offers.
The cabin is nicely furnished with all necessities covered, and enough reading material for 2 lifetimes. The cabin is filled with books of all kinds, and the walls are covered with interesting maps and artwork.
There's plenty of space on the property to roam around, and several lakes and trails very close.
There's a nice, new gas station/grocery/deli within a couple miles of the cabin. The town of Condon isn't much, but it's close.
Seeley Lake isn't far, if you want outdoor recreation.
It's a great spot to get away. I would definitely recommend it.

It was nice, quiet, & relaxing. Andy was great in making sure the driveway was plowed ahead of time for me due to the snow since I drive a front wheel drive car rather than an SUV of pick-up. He was great in checking in on me when I got there & made sure everything was working ok. One of my old dogs decided to do a "Peter Pan" off the 2nd story deck onto the ice when Andy was there & he was great in making sure he was ok...especially since I was in shock that the dog did that. Thank you!
