About this cottage rental
Gite des Bois, Honfleur, Côte de Grâce - Nestling in the beautiful Côte de Grâce on the heights above Honfleur lies this lovely two-bedroom gîte where you can relax away from it all, secure in the knowledge that your children are safe with plenty of room to play and you still can avail of the numerous charms of the bustling port town of Honfleur so beloved of tourists and artists alike. During covid we installed a new kitchen and wood burning stove for which we provide wood! If you want privacy but not isolation then this is the perfect place to base yourself and explore the numerous attractions which Normandy has to offer. Caen with William the Conquerer's magnificent Castle is a mere 20 minutes away, Rouen, its Medieval core still intact, a mere hour's drive and the Normandy beaches are all within reach. If you want to go to Paris, its less than 2 hours on the motorway and so lends itself to a day trip. Nearer to Honfleur theres Deauville with its racing and chic shopping , Trouville with its fabulous fish market plus a myriad of
delightful Norman towns and villages.
This lovely, well-proportioned, two bedroomed, renovated gate-house is tucked into the trees in the grounds of a beautiful ‘belle-épôque’ villa on the Côte de Grâce.
The grounds are secluded, and there are swings amongst the trees. You can take long walks on quiet country lanes. You are minutes from the lively centre of Honfleur which you can reach by 10 minutes on foot downhill but takes slightly longer to walk uphill.
There are two food markets a week in Honfleur, and you can prepare fresh food in the well-appointed kitchen. However, there are 140 cafés, bistros, and restaurants in the town - you might revise the self-catering plans. The museums are well worth a visit and the beautifully landscaped park adjoining the Seine estuary has many amenities including many for children.
Nearby is a lovely sandy beach for long walks. A short drive away is Deauville, an hour away are the Normandy Landings beaches, Bayeux, and Monet’s garden at Giverny.

We enjoyed a fine holiday in this house. Contact with the hosts was friendly and they invited us for a drink in their beautiful villa.
The house is on the top of a hill near a very old chapel. Walking to Honfleur is not long but the way up requires good walking condition.
The curtains in the house require some attention because the hanging system has some defects. That would improve the evening atmosphere inside.

It was fantastic! We loved the house with the large windows facing into that fantastic garden and you could reach Honfleur within few minutes driving through a lovely scenery. The owner was very friendly and invited us over for a drink.

Can’t say enough positive about this wonderful vacation home well situated and providing a welcome quiet respite from the hubbub of the nearby fishing village. 5 stars. And the hosts were exceedingly helpful. Know that there is a narrow staircase going to the bedrooms all upstairs.

Nice location, short walk to town, and gated garden so can have children playing outside without worry.

I cannot recommend this property high enough. Beautiful location. Really peaceful and quiet but only 10 minutes walk from town. The hill into Honfleur is a little steep but it's easy to park at the bottom if this may be a problem to you. Very comfortable and well equipped. Very well maintained. Plenty of outside space. The bottle of wine on arrival was very much appreciated. Will definitely return at some point in the future.

Had a fantastic week in the Gite. Spacious traditional Gite. Well appointed kitchen, generous living area, amply sized bedrooms. Large garden. Quiet seculed spot, but only 10 minutes walk into Honfleur ( road is very steep but great to walk off the food and wine! Owners extremely friendly. Would recommend for both families and couples.

The location is a perfect place to visit honfleur and the region. You can walk into honfleur, although the cottage is just outside the village, up the Hill, right next to the beautiful church. It's a bit hidden, with your own garden, so relax, while the kids are playing around. We didn't manage to get the tv running, but the kids didn't miss it, because of the many games inside and playing Outside.
The cottage has everything in it for a warm or cold day. Outside are two lounge chairs and a table for four to eat outside. In cold days there is a fire Place. As leonora wrote in the description, there's right now no internet yet, waiting for installation by the French Mechanics.
Leonora did help us very Well. Thanks for all the hospitallity, Leonora!
Trouville and deauville are within 20min driving. When you walk 15min downhill you're on the beach of honfleur (uphill count on 30min, with kids)
When you're searching for the cottage, send your GPS to the restaurant next door, the Ferme de la Grande Cour, it's just across the street.

This is a charming spacious property with a wow factor as you arrive,Set in a rural location yet only 10 to 15 minutes walk down a steep hill to Honfleur. Lovely setting in wonderful grounds. Excellent restaurant ( Ferme de la Grand Cour) a couple of minutes walk away if you want to eat nearby. Lack of working TV not a problem for us! Much to see and do in Honfleur and further afield. Facilities worked well. Some comfortable outdoor seating would have been welcome. Get a map before you go and locate property on it. I would recommend this property to a friend seeking a peaceful beautiful location with charm and character.

Four of us stayed at this comfortable gite for five days. It was everything we expected. The location was quiet and within an easy 10 minute walk in beautiful Honfleur. Honfleur is a delightful town with abundant galleries and restaurants located on a beautiful harbor with a picturesque basin in the middle surrounded by beautiful medieval buildings. We are hikers and enjoyed hiking into the countryside. The gite was well-equipped, clean, and we enjoyed the convenience of a clothes wash machine since we had been traveling for three weeks before arriving. The proximity to Caen and a wonderful new museum which opened in 2012 was a special treat. We also motored to the Normandy beaches and took advantage of several historic sites including Omaha Beach. I would highly recommend the Gite des Bois for 2 couples or a family. Leonora was prompt in answering emails. It was an excellent experience.
