About this house rental
Appalachian View is a magnificent 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath custom log home perched atop the trees in Waynesville, North Carolina. Its spectacular mountain views can be seen from almost any room in the house, the deck and balconies are private with the same beautiful long range mountain landscape.
The home is decorated with authentic art pieces from all over the world and has comfy high-quality furnishing. The vaulted ceilings add a feeling of warmth and openness to the great room. The open concept full kitchen and dining area adjoin the great room, and allow for any kind of meal preparation, although there are many excellent restaurants nearby.
The master bedroom is located on the main floor and features a king-sized bed, private bath with a Jacuzzi tub and access to the deck. The two bedrooms upstairs have king beds, private balconies with a view and a reading nook in the hall.
Other features include hot tub, high speed internet, Foosball table, 2 car garage, a small office with printer and much, much more. Whether the purpose of your visit is to take advantage of the multiple recreational activities Western North Carolina has to offer or you're here just to relax and enjoy the beautiful fall colors or a winter ski getaway, we are sure you will find tranquility and comfort here.
Please note this is a dog friendly property. It is the guest's responsibility to contact the property manager at Maggie Mountain Vacations as there is an additional non-refundable per pet fee, not included in the base rent. There are restrictions to weight and number of dogs allowed. Unauthorized pets on property will incur a $300 per pet penalty. No cats or other types of pets allowed. The approach to this property is a steeper paved mountain road with a short distance of packed dirt / gravel coming up from a flat four lane road from Waynesville. We do experience seasonal inclement weather in this region and all-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive and/or snow tire chains would be required in winter weather events.
Appalachian View is an easy 10–15-minute drive to the heart of Maggie Valley, as well as Cataloochee Ski Area (known for being one of the first ski resorts in the US to open each season), Tube World (snow tubing), Wheels Through Time (a historic motorcycle museum featured on History Channel's “American Pickers”), horseback riding and golfing. In just a quick and convenient 15 minutes you could be in Waynesville at Ingles and Publix grocery stores, Walmart or head to Main Street in Waynesville and enjoy additional shopping, dining, and sightseeing.
This home is also a short 30 minute drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and Harrah's Cherokee Casino (even if you do not gamble it has some of the best restaurants around), Pisgah National Forest, several golf courses, Asheville and the Biltmore Estate & Winery (America's largest and most visited privately-owned home), many great restaurants and micro-breweries, Bryson City (home of the Great Smoky Mountain Railway and “Polar Express” during the Christmas Holiday), Transylvania County (home of the most waterfalls in the United States), and over 100 Antique Shops.
Approximately, 45 minutes away in Hendersonville, you can visit Sierra Nevada Brewery (with their enormous dining and Tap Room), gem mining, white water rafting, ziplining and much more in the surrounding areas. You are just under an hour to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, (home of Dollywood).

We LOVED our stay at Appalachian View. The cabin is gorgeous with EVERYTHING you need to cook. I saw in reviews that the check in process was terrible but it was less then 10 minutes away from the cabin and we got our cabin code earlier than we thought we would. We also didn’t have to bring a key back bc it was a keyless door. Yes, they only leave 2 rolls of toilet paper and small bar soaps for your hands but it was so nice to have had previous people leave extra of everything. We had hand soap, dish soap, sponges for dish cleaning, paper towel and toilet paper along with aluminum foil and parchment paper. Taking the trash 2 minutes down the road was no big deal either. The city of Waynesville is perfect with great food and there was many great hikes to pick from. Our family cannot wait to come back!!!

This is by far one of the best VRBO rentals I have had the pleasure to enjoy. The house is clean, spacious, well equipped, and the view is amazing. The driveway is a little intimidating at first but after a couple of trips up and down you get accustomed to it. It would definitely require 4 wheel drive if there was snow or ice. The beds were super comfortable and the kitchen was a chef’s dream. Can’t say enough about how nice this house is. Would definitely stay here again.

Quite Get Away - Beautiful Views
Nice home and amenities with a well dressed kitchen. The beds are a little soft for my liking.
One criticism is the check in process. Even if you ask for an early checkin - the soonest you will be able to collect the keys is 2PM. Every other property I have rented on VRBO would allow for an early checkin if the house was open and clean. It was apparent no one had been in the house prior to our arrival.
Ask the managing company for a copy of the rental agreement, it is not on VRBO. I received mine after I paid. The agreement is very specific; one small roll of paper towels, one small roll of toilet paper, one tiny bar of bath soap, 2 dishwasher pods, and the trash rules. A nice home cheaply managed.

Main couch in family room is pretty uncomfortable. Expectation of garbage removal is unrealistic.
Overall a good spot, great view, plenty of room for 6. Adding a TV in master suite and upgraded couch would go a long way.

Great Mountain Cabin!
We had a fabulous family Christrmas this year at Applachian View! The property was just as described. Very well stocked kitchen for cooking, which we did a ton of during out stay. The layout was great for family time and spread out enough for time to relax. We spent many hours in the kitchen area with the great big table playing games, watching TV with lots of laughs. The view is stunning from the house, deck, and hot tub. We caught every gorgeous sunrise from the main deck all week. Very pet friendly. Highly recommend.

Beautiful Property
This was a great place for my friends and I to enjoy a long labor day weekend in the mountains. We had never been to the Asheville area and loved our time spent both in town and at the VRBO. The place was clean, the views were gorgeous, and the space was perfect for hanging out, playing games, and making dinner together. The one thing I would recommend is to have more toiletries on site (garbage bags, paper towels, toilet paper). We had to bring our own trash to the dump but there was only one trash bag to do so. We ended up buying more of each thing.
