We loved Hazuki hotel, it was in the Japanese style situated close to the station but in a quiet spot near a small river, and the stone bath was something else! The proprietor couldn't do enough for us, he was so kind and genial.
You could say the hotel is quite basic, ie no frills, but it really had everything we needed and was excellent value for money in Kyoto.

Traditional Japanese house with very helpful owner. Sat in the very pretty backstreets of Kyoto and its traditional houses. Futons were comfortable and rooms were tidied daily. Had to be quiet when inside the property but this was fine with us

The owner is very welcoming and speaks English which was helpful. The property is traditional with beautiful furniture and decor. The remodeled antique wood paneling, doors and hardware and have old world charm. Our rooms had heated tatami mat flooring which was nice. There is a separate private 1-2 person natural stone soaking tub that was so relaxing and all guests can use.
The location is walking distance from many sites, transportation, shops and restaurants.

The room was spacious and cosy. We really liked the traditional Japanese room, especially the lovely bathtub we could use privately. The owner was kind and supportive; he sometimes brought us tea and snacks and made sure that we could enjoy our stay in Kyoto.
There were not so many plug sockets in the room, making it slightly inconvenient to charge our phones/PC. But otherwise, it was a lovely stay there!

Very helpful staff, nice experience for Japanese style hostel.
Good value for money.
Recommended for those who could sleep on Tatami.
It's a bit far from transportation (about 10-15minutes walk)
And the route was very quiet, not recommended if you're not comfortable to walk.

The room was beautiful and comfortable. The owner was exceptionally helpful, accommodating, and friendly. He picked us up from the station and dropped us off after checkout. Highly recommend this hotel for those who want to experience a traditional Japanese room in a suburban setting.
The location was not the most convenient -- many of the restaurants and temples we wanted to visit were not in walkable distance.
