About this house rental
This spacious chalet is nestled between Lake Placid and Mirror Lake in the desirable Signal Hill section of Lake Placid Village. Though the property is secluded and private, it is just a short 5-minute walk to Mirror Lake, Lake Placid, and all of Lake Placid's shops and restaurants. It is also situated a short distance from the Whiteface Mountain Shuttle and a quick car ride to hundreds of miles of wilderness trails perfect for hiking, snowshoeing, etc.
The house is tastefully furnished and features a large, well-appointed kitchen and eating area, an outdoor deck with picnic table and grill, 3 fireplaces, a giant picture window, multiple televisions, king and queen size beds, a bunk room for kids, laundry, and free Wi-Fi. The house sleeps 10. We welcome children and even offer a portable crib for our littlest guests as well as high chairs/booster seats.
The Retreat Between the Lakes is perfect for fall, winter, and summer vacations. In the fall, guests can marvel at the beauty of the foliage while on a lovely walk around nearby Mirror Lake, during one of many nearby wilderness hikes, or just by gazing out the giant picture window while cozying up in the Great Room with something warm to drink. In winter, guests can ski Whiteface Mountain, shoot down the toboggan run onto frozen Mirror Lake, take a dogsled ride, skate on the Olympic Oval, or explore a number of winter Olympic venues famous to the town. In summer, guests can stay close to home and enjoy the cool breezes on the large outdoor deck and private grounds or take a short walk and enjoy the summer fun offered by either Mirror Lake or Lake Placid Lake.

We first rented this house about 10 years ago when we were a party of only 6 adults, this time we also had 4 grandchildren making a total party of 10 people. The house was absolutely perfect for the needs of the whole party plus we had a deer in the backyard one morning.
We had one minor problem whilst there and emailed the owner to advise of the problem, we had a response less than a minute later and the workman arrived early the next morning, everything was sorted promptly and politely as the owner had promised it would be. Perfect house for a relaxing vacation.

The location of this property was ideal for our group of 10 people. It's on a quiet dead-end street with a convenient turnaround driveway, walking distance to Main Street where all the shops and restaurants are. The house itself offers plenty of space and the game room was a great hangout area. The pictures of this property do not do it justice. It was more spacious than expected.

We stayed for my daughter's wedding. The house was perfect. The Great Room allowed us to have our hair and make-up people over with plenty of light and room for us all. We had everything we could possibly imagine. Lisa and Ted were great hosts. We couldn't have asked for a nicer stay.

This was our second time staying at this house and we have already booked the next time. It is perfect for our families’ ski weekend. It is very clean and organized. Everything you need is provided. It also has entertainment and space for all ages of our family. You also can’t beat the location. We love walking into town and such a quick drive to Whiteface. Highly recommend.

Beautiful home and walkable to everything in town. We had 3 couples staying to celebrate a 50th birthday and the setup was ideal. Everyone enjoyed the ping pong table and pool table and there’s plenty of room for board games and such. We had hoped to enjoy the hot tub more but it wasn’t working the first night and we were only staying for 2 nights. Communication with host was excellent and the property management company came out the next day to get it going, but still unfortunate that it wasn’t operable for half our stay. 90% of the kitchen outlets are also not functioning. Property management said they were aware and there should have been a note advising us to use the outlets inside a cabinet. Because there was no note, we ended up needing to bring the coffee maker and toaster into the living area to make breakfast. Not the end of the world but also not what you would expect for a rental in this price range. Otherwise, the home was exactly what we were looking for. Very clean and stocked with everything you could possibly need. Overall a great experience.

This house is the true home away from home. Everything you need at your fingertips. Decorated well. Super clean. Wonderful common areas with fireplaces or a wood stove. Plenty of beds. This is the perfect house for families or friends or multiple couples. Very convenient and walking distance to the village. We hope to be able to get back again soon.

We just spent an enjoyable week in a very well situated home in a quiet neighborhood a short walk from restaurants and shops and a short drive to the grocery store. The size accommodated 6 adults and 2 teenagers with a very well appointed kitchen and comfortable great room. Games, books and videos filled bookcases and multiple TV’s were available. We all enjoyed the hot tub on the deck and dinners were served on the picnic table near it as well as in the spacious dining area. If I had a wish list it would be for a small breakfast table on the deck just off the kitchen. Would make a great spot to enjoy morning coffee. The laundry room was a convenient place to wash clothes after returning from swimming and hiking. No place is perfect but all in all we were well satisfied with our time spent here.

We had a wonderful stay, we came up to spectate IMLP and the location was perfect. The house was cool despite the weather being super hot outside. Fans in all rooms. Parking was great and the decor of the house was lovely. Hosts were responsive and we plan to return! thank you!

Walking distance to town
Ted and Lisa were easy to communicate with and responded quickly to messages. House had the perfect layout for our needs. We traveled with another couple and 3 kids (15 & 18). Adults on the 2nd floor, kids on the first floor where the game room was located. The pool table was a big hit! The kitchen had every gadget that you would need, including a crockpot which came in handy. We spent our nights in the great room watching tv and playing cards. The house is located in a quiet neighborhood and within walking distance to town. It is also about 20 minutes from Whiteface Mountain which made for an easy commute to and from the ski slopes. We are looking forward to our next trip to Lake Placid!

Great house with plenty of space and amazing location!
We loved our stay at the Retreat Between the Lakes! The house had so much room for everyone. We were two families traveling together and we had so much space. The 5 kids had plenty to do with the pool table, ping pong, and hot tub. And it is such a nice walk to town. Also close to a lot of restaurants on Saranac Road. It was very clean and the owners left directions on how to take care and work everything. We loved it and are already planning our next trip there.

Fabulous!
We have been traveling to the North Country in the fall for more than 10 years and staying at different properties. Ted & Lisa were great hosts and the property met our needs very well. As we cook ,we found the kitchen to have everything you could need. The property was spacious for our group. A wonderful time was had by all.

Ironman 2021
We had a great time. The location was perfect for watching my son run the Ironman. We had a large group and we were all able to spread out and relax. The great room was awesome it made it so that we could shut the doors before the race so my son could get his rest while we could still hang out and enjoy watching the Olympics till late. We rent houses several times a year and this by far had the most linens and bedding of any place we have rented. Made it so even with our large group we didn’t have to wash towels. The kitchen was well stocked with essentials and basic food items as well. We would definitely return if my son or one of his friends decide to do the Ironman again. Thanks for a great experience!

Wonderful Presidents Weekend
Enjoyed a wonderful Presidents weekend at this terrific house. Loved spending time in the Great Book relaxing and reading books. Our daughters had a terrific time in the game room and watching movies downstairs. Spending time in the hot tub while the snow fell was fantastic. Kitchen is well stocked, the bedrooms are comfy. We hope to be back!

50th Birthday surprise

The perfect, safe getaway for two hardworking families!
The owners were extremely responsive and accomidating. The property was clean, which provided us comfort during this time of covid. It rained everyday, but there was so many ammenities, we always had something fun to do with the kids. In the evening the house is perfect for the adults to whip up some food, relax by the fire or in the hot tub. Most important was the time we got to spend together and the new memories made! Thank you, this is going to be a new tradition! :)
