A hand built log cabin. Lots of room to spred out. Close to Homer but still far enough away. Kitchen is adequately equipped with nice appliances. Not much wild life to report, bunnies and sandhill cranes. Could use some blackout shades in the summer,LOL.

Just a short drive into Homer with a beautiful view of Cook Inlet, St. Augustine Island, Mt. Illiamna, and mountains of Kachemak State Park. Quiet and private with plenty of space and parking. Host is great to work with and responsive to any needs, local information, etc. The Roku TV is nice too!

We had a great time here. We stayed 4 days and everything was awesome. Owner came over and chatted for a while which was nice. We had a view of Cook Inlet and the Iliamna volcano right from the window.

The property was a great place to come home to after a day of fishing, or just seeing the sights. It was comfortable, peaceful, and the view was awesome. The owner, Kent, lives nearby, he's a very nice guy and he was very responsive to requests. Checkout was the easiest I've ever experienced. For the price, this property can't be beat. I'm so glad we found it!

My family and I loved staying here! The location was perfect, nice and private and absolutely gorgeous views of the mountains and bay. It’s only 18 minutes away from the Spit which was perfect. Everything was very clean and had the essentials that you would need. Kent was a great host and we would definitely stay here again!

The view was spectacular, the cabin was very clean and well attended to. Plenty of surrounding trees that resulted in not seeing any neighbors or traffic. The TV and internet was a bonus item that we were not expecting in a remote area. The property manager contacted us right away and made us feel welcome and left us feeling special.

Incredible views, comfortable cabin and easy to drive to places of interest. The beds were a little harder than we were use to.

We had a wonderful time. The cabin has a beautiful view of the ocean. Kent was a great host and very accommodating. We booked our 1/2 day fishing trip with Inlet Fishing excursion. They were the most reasonable. A big shout out to Patrick who is a refreshing bundle of energy. The captain and crew made sure we all caught our limit. Amazing vacation!! I would love to do it all over again. Kent, hopefully we will see you next year.

Great views.
We had a great time. Kent was great host. First week weather cloudy but second week clear. We varied between 5 and 7 people and the house worked well. We will definitely stay there again.

Great location
Minutes from town but quiet in nature. House was not equipped for a family of 6. Towels/forks??? No black out curtains makes it hard to sleep in AK in summer!!

Kent is the ultimate host. Every thing about his property is excellent including the sandhill cranes that walk down the driveway. This has been our second stay with him and hope to stay there in the any future trips to Homer.

Great Location
We loved the location and enjoyed how close it was to town without feeling close to town. Minutes away from everything that Homer has to offer. Very clean. Kent was quick to help us with any questions and was always a phone call away if we needed anything. We loved the view and the wildlife. We would definitely stay there again.

Roomy and Bright
Three photographers in Homer to photograph bears at Katmai and Lake Clark National Parks. Easy access to Homer in a quiet area. Nice roomy kitchen for laptops and meals.. Bedrooms and beds were comfy. Grill worked great and the dishwasher was appreciated. Over a good choice.

Fishing Trip
Our family stayed here for our first trip to Homer. The host was very friendly, helpful and responsive. It was great to have a roomy home to spread out in and a kitchen table for playing games. The location is great with a peaceful feel and very convenient to Homer. The three bedrooms were separated with 2 upstairs and 1 downstairs in this 3 level cabin for those looking for privacy. The log cabin is nostalgic with an old-time feel but comfortable and homey.

Clean, well kept
We loved this house: close to Homer but pretty secluded. Saw lots of wild life: cranes, young moose was hanging out outside of the kitchen window. House was well stocked, everything we needed was there. Thank you Ken!

Nice view but house is outdated, beds uncomfortable/broken, showers are moldy and barely work
Unfortunately, "The Acclaimed View Log Cabin" wasn't worth anywhere near what we paid. We were incredibly disappointed with how often he came by and how uncomfortable he made us with his snide remarks, obvious judgement and sexual innuendos, e.g., "monkeying around on the bed".
Four visits in the span of 24 hours demanding cash was invasive and unprofessional. It also made us feel uneasy about his proximity to the location
When I tell him that the bed broke in my friends room, the room that is presumably costing us an extra $25/night, and that we don't want to be charged for the broken bed, he proceeded to tell me that he knew it was broken. That the frame was at a 45 degree angle and that he just pushed it forward. And wouldn't think that my friend and I were up on the bed "wrestling and monkeying around". Super creepy as he made faux wrestling moves. Then he tells me that we rented the entire house and it sleeps 12 people so there is plenty of other options for him to sleep. So why are we paying an extra $25/night???
Here's a list of all the issues we had with this house besides Kent's incessant demand for money in cash:
- the bedsheets were filthy (We literally had to shake the dirt off the sheets)
- Kent was constantly around or at the house
- there was unhygienic/unsightly mold in the bathrooms
- the shades were broken and window was cracked-had to use cardboard boxes to (only partially) block out the seasonal 22 hours of sunlight (Far from the "Romantic" description online)
- The water literally turned off randomly and indiscriminately multiple times during attempted showers leaving us to rinse off the soap from the sink. Once while preparing for a wedding.
- The dishes were dirty.
- There was some sort of syringe under the deck when you walk in the front door, disgusting.
- Fireplace was off limits (Pictures on website of the fireplace and firewood are misleading)
- Under his amenities tab of Pool/Spa, it says that there is a jacuzzi and a jetted tub (this alluded to the fact that there was also a jacuzzi not just the jetted tub upstairs. There isn't.)
Also, the Sandhill Crane that he fed illegally might attribute to the "occasional black bear that wanders through". This posses a serious threat for all his future guests who might stroll upon an "occasional" black bear who love the corn he is illegally feeding the Sandhill Crane. RENTER BEWARE.

Wonderful cabin and awesome host
Kent was great. Really laid back, we got in late so he met us the next day. Had great recommendations for food and who to talk to about fishing. Cabin was clean, really big and beautiful views. Excellent location just a couple minutes out of Homer. Very relaxing and peaceful. Mountain and sea views. Kent left food for the sandhill cranes which were cool to watch. We spent most of our time out fishing or on the Spit, it was a great place to come home to. Thanks Kent!

Spacious, clean home in a beautiful serene setting
Stayed 3 nights in August. We thought the log home was actually bigger than the photos suggested. From the slippers provided for guests' use to the well-equipped spacious kitchen, it was a lovely place to return to at the end of the day. I would recommend the newly opened Kannery Grill just down the road (more expensive but much more delicious tasting food than many in town or on the Spit). Also, the Halibut Cove trail across the Bay (water taxi required) is an easy and beautiful wooded hiking trail (4.5 mi round trip) culminating at a glacier lake.

This place is awesome! Acclaimed View Cabin is a well deserved name. Clean and comfortable. It was more than our crew of four
could ask for. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to stay and explore the lower Kenai Peninsula.

Excellent Views, Great ameninities, Clean and Close to Homer
The cabin was an excellent choice. We have stayed in many places around Homer but Kent's cabin was the excellent location for great views and easy access to Homer. The cabin was clean, comfortable and move in ready. We would try to stay here every time we come back!
Thanks for the hospitality and the great memories.

Peaceful and Private
Very nice, clean home. I'm sure there are beautiful views of the mountains, but it was cloudy the whole time we were there. We did see a family of Sandhill Cranes in the yard a few times. Kent greeted us upon our arrival and was available to help with anything we needed. He was very accommodating with our changes and he also responded to text/emails very quickly. We would stay there again.

Incredible Views
The cabin offered beautiful views of Cook's inlet, the mountains and volcano. The cabin was extremely nice and clean with plenty of room for our family. Kent was very helpful and took time to give us hints on how to make our stay even better. I would recommend this cabin to others and plan to return in the future.

Great cabin with fantastic views of Cook Inlet
The cabin was all that promised. Three of us stayed there for a week while we were fishing. It is a beautiful cabin, spotlessly clean with all the amenities that you could ask for. The owner is just down the road and always readily available for any questions or assistance you might need. The views from the cabin are beautiful, with Redoubt volcano and Cook Inlet right out the windows.
We had two sandhill cranes and a chick feeding in the yard. We could not have found a better place and been more comfortable. Homer and the Spit are just a short drive down the road with views of Kachemak Bay and the Spit that are world famous.
We would recommend this cabin as a first choice for any stays in the Homer area.
After catching our limit of halibut, Paddy's restaurant on the Spit cooked up some of our fresh halibut and rock fish for a fantastic dinner

Great views, great quality home, awesome host
This place is great. Really nice luxury log cabin feeling. Great views. You can tell the owner takes pride in the craftsmanship of the home by the way the upgrades have been done. As well, he is a great host, making sure you have everything you need as well as answering local questions. One con though, I wish there was another bathroom on the main floor.
I would certainly stay here again or recommend to family/friends.

Great experience
I thoroughly recommend this property and Kent to anyone looking to stay in Homer. He was very available and friendly. the property was beautiful and I didn't feel bad spending a couple days of our vacation being lazy and staying at the house. I also liked watching the sandhill cranes and peasant that were hanging around the property
