It's so overrated...

the view from the cafe is a major plus. the staff is extremely helpful and sweet. also the cafe food is good ( must try chicken cheese chilli toast)
it’s very difficult to find the place. it is hideout indeed! the instructions given are helpful but you can tend to get lost if you reach there on the rainy night ( like I did). the dorm beds had some dust on it(not sure if that was due to the renovation going on in the next room). little bit of dusting can make the dorm look clean.

Initially it's a bit confusing to reach to the hostel. However, it's actually in a great location close to the happening places of Darjeeling. The room was clean, but too small and felt a little expensive to the quoted price. The cafe on the first floor serves good food and has great views of the Sleeping buddha. Highly recommend this place for all backpackers.

The Bunk Beds are not really comfortable, I hit my head several times on the bed on top....

Good value for money. Close to the city centre.
Nothing much to dislike. Good place to stay.

The beds were clean and the entire hostel had a peaceful vibe. I met new people and made new friends there. I will definitely visit again when I come to Darjeeling next time.

People were good, the cafe is so amazing for remote working, comfortable bed, really peaceful surrounding.
The bathroom is not cleaned everyday. Given that the dorm is shared by 5 people, it gets unclean after a certain time.
I went there knowing this is a solo traveler friendly place, but to my utter surprise, on my third night a family was given to share the dormitory with us, they were husband, wife and an aged father in law. It got very inconvenient to share the washroom with them. But the first two nights were really great, met some amazing fellow travelers. They should really not allow family, that was my only utter dissatisfaction, and the unclean washroom too. Our water tap broke two times during my stay, although they fixed it fast.

The Food is excellent.
Room and Washroom was very small. I think it is good for Single's and Students who are looking for cheap stay.

The staff was very kind and helpful. Bhumika suggested me some really great to do things in Darjeeling. Will surely like to go again soon.

According to Booking.com, Hideout is one of the top stays for solo backpackers and since I'm going on a solo trip, I immediately booked 2 nights and it turned out to be a good choice.
It's very close to the Mall Road/ Chowrasta so most of the shopping stores, famous restaurants are just few meters walk. But make sure to prepare your lungs and legs because you'll be mostly walking uphill and downhill. If you're not used to high altitude, better acclimatize yourself first, else, if you exhaust yourself, you'd be grasping for air most of the time.
The landmarks you could take note of to easily find the hostel are the big TV satellite and Tom and Jerry Cafe. The name suits it very well because you won't see it from the main road so once you reach Campbell Cottage, you just have to walk towards the road on your right and look for the sign - Hideout.
From the outside, it looks very humble. It has a homey feeling, like a place where you can hangout with friends and chill. Most people book a bed in their dormitory but I booked a private room. My room has a comfortable bed with soft linen and pillows, table and couch and a private bathroom. It could fit 3 people. You won't be needing any AC but if you're not used to the cold weather, rent a heater for INR 300 a day and it'll warm even your ex's coldest heart.
The hostel has its own cafe and it's open from 8am to 8pm daily. They have huge selection of food and drinks so after a long day out sight seeing, you can grab a bite here, rest and enjoy the warm and cozy ambiance. I ordered their honey glazed chicken, caffe latte, peach juice and wai wai ramen. If you can't tolerate spicy food, make sure to ask first because the food can get very spicy.
If you only packed light and you need to wash clothes, better give it to the staff, there's a pricelist listed in the room for each type of clothing. You can give it any time of the day and you get it the next morning.

The location is truly genius, so close to all the main attractions yet hidden away and gives you the feeling of being secluded. You can't hear a thing at night, it's so peaceful. Be prepared for a short but steep uphill hike to reach the property! Also loved the cafe, amazing view and a great place to sit and read or work with a cup of coffee. I only had one meal, but the pancakes and coffee are great.
Nothing really, as long as you keep your expectations reasonable given the price. Stayed in the private room, which was great, but the bathroom is not designed for tall people, so be careful not to bump your head :D

The washroom, cafe, the location and fellow backpackers were good
Room was a bit congested and not as clean and well kept as expected but ig u can say that for whole of Darjeeling.
