Welcome to our private paradise on Barren River Lake.

Our rustic, hand-hewn log cabin is the perfect retreat for anyone needing a break from the mad rush of life without sacrificing the comforts of home. Surround yourself with the chirping of birds, the croak of frogs, and the song of the wind blowing through the trees. Spy on wildlife as they make their way down to the lake for a drink, or wend your way down the path to your own private shallow swimming beach and dock. Search for fossils along the beach, toss a line in for fish, or hop in your boat for a casual float around the lake.

Your closest neighbors lie across the lake, but you are still close to the conveniences of Walnut Creek Marina and Boat drop, and you are still within 5 miles of downtown Scottsville and the entrance to the Barren River State Park.

The accommodations include a 720 square foot cabin and a totally private acre of lake fronted forest. The cabin has one large bedroom area upstairs, featuring a queen size bed and a day bed with a trundle. We have one bathroom with a shower and tub. The small kitchen features full size appliances, and everything you need to cook and serve your meals. The main living area features leather and antique furniture, a stone fireplace with a propane log fire, a TV with basic cable, and high speed WIFI. There is a screened in balcony off the bedroom perfect for your morning coffee or evening reading nook, a wood deck off the back with year round views of the water (lake view from April through late October, creek view through the winter).

This is the perfect spot for a small family, a couple seeking a private week away, artists or authors seeking inspiration and solitude, or anyone just needing to get back in touch with nature.

We do not, however, recommend this rental for anyone with mobility limitations as there are rocky steps, stairs inside, and an unimproved forest trail down to access the lake.

There are no pets allowed at this property.

Please keep in mind that properties on the lake are on small septic systems. When we say this property is suitable for 4 people, that is really the maximum number of people the septic system can handle. Please do not plan large gatherings.

Beautiful place. There is a nail on the floor that is popping up in front of the couch and at the island in front of stove that I cut my foot on.

We loved the cabin. Perfect getaway for my wife and I. Hope to visit again soon…. There are two dehumidifier’s that were not addressed in the rental agreement but we figured them out pretty quickly. Overall we loved our stay.

The remote cabin was rustic, private and just what we were looking for but there was an overwhelming smell in the cabin. I do not want to give a bad review because it was just as we expected and wanted but I have a very sensitive olfactory and asthma issues. We slept in the cabin one night as my lungs acclimated but the migraine started from the smell. It smelled of mold/mildew and I was very sensitive. We were very disappointed to not be able to stay our allotted time. The owners were very gracious about refunding our costs. I didn't ask, they volunteered the refund.

The property and the cabin were both amazing and couldn't have suited us better. If you like the outdoors and lake life, this is definitely the place to be.

Secluded and peaceful property. Typical cabin in the woods feel to it. Really spacious for 2 adults. Entire cabin is on a pretty steep hill so be prepared for some excercise getting to and from the dock, its not terrible though. The property manager was very easy to contact and speak with for any issues that arose. All in all, we will definitely be back soon!

This is a charming cabin in a secluded area, but there are some major drawbacks. The listing did caution about uneven stone steps down to the cabin, but in fact they are dangerous -- there is no handrail, and at night the lights by the stairs as well as the yard light on a pole do not work, so it is quite dangerous. Also, the internet is dicey and there is basically no phone service. The cleaning also was incomplete -- the porches were filled with leaves, and the little balcony off the upstairs had not been cleaned and was full of cobwebs.

This cabin was a great getaway for my husband and I for a long weekend. We definitely enjoyed the scenery, peacefulness and views. It is very remote so make sure to bring all of your supplies with you!

The ad says it all and it was just as advertised if not a little better. Would definitely recommend. If your into the fishing aspect, the walk to the lake may be a little steep and the path could be cleaned up some but it by far doesn't take away from the tranquil setting. If I ever get the opportunity to take. Trip like that again, I will definitely keep this little cabin on my short list. :)

We usually try to take a vacation/weekend getaway every couple months and wanted to squeeze one in before school started. This place was my favorite out of the many many places we've stayed. I have zero complaints. It was so nice to disconnect and the coziness of the cabin/location was much needed. We will definitely be back. Maya was great about giving the address details before our trip. Had no issues finding the place. We didn't want to leave.

I took my wife there for our 5th wedding anniversary. It’s the perfect spot to get away to. The location makes it very peaceful and comfortable. We liked that they’re no neighbors to close to the cabin. We brought in everything for the weekend and we never left. We’ll definitely be back. The pictures of the cabin are nice, but it doesn’t compare to seeing it and staying there.

Property is tucked away down a private drive and very secluded. Real log cabin with all the amenities of home included. The place was even better than expected. Large back porch overlooking the lake's bank. Water was low during our visit, but made for a quiet stay since there was no boat traffic. Bring a flashlight if arriving arriving at night! Perfect place, at a fair price, for a quiet get away.

This beautiful cabin is excellently maintained. It was very clean and had all the amenities of home. The dock was a game changer. We didn't have a boat but were still able to enjoy the beautiful weekend from the dock. We especially loved the small patio off the bedroom. It was perfect for sipping coffee and spotting the local flora and fauna. We'll definitely be back!

This cabin was close to everything we needed and wanted. Extremely clean, nestled in an area surrounded by nature and serenity. Everything is provided, and Maya is so hospitable with this space. My only regret was that we did not have more time to spend in the cabin! Highly recommend.

Absolutely beautiful home and location I wish I could’ve stayed another week… If your looking for a secluded getaway this is it very peaceful and quiet and the water is just a short walk away. Maya was terrific to work with and she does a great job with the property. The house was super clean and very comfy. Will def be coming back!!!!!

Stayed here while visiting local attractions- caves and corvette museum. Was so peaceful- couldn't even see any neighboring houses. Had a great time watching wildlife and fishing at the lake- beautiful!! We will definitely be back!

The cabin is a hidden gem and absolutely perfect for a quiet getaway. Maya is very responsive and thorough, and the check-in/check-out processes were very easy. Though it is in a lesser populated area, we felt safe the whole time. The private shore and dock on the lake is peaceful and beautiful. You can spend most of your day on the water without worry. We are definitely making the trip back in the future!

This is our first time to this area and it was absolutely stunning. House is perfect for 2. Had a but of a problem with GPS getting us there, but Maya answered right away and met us and drove us in. Very quit and peaceful. Really enjoyed hanging out on the dock and we're already planning on returning with our boat.

What a cute cabin in the woods. It made for a nice weekend away from Nashville. We loved having the river at the back door. The views with coffee in the morning were so relaxing. It is a small cabin with a steep drive so it isn’t for everyone. My only complaint would be it needs some cookware replacements & the step lights outside didn’t work well. We hope to return again in the spring.

The cabin was perfect for my husband and I. Nothing too big or extravagant, just right. It is very private and quiet, especially at night when you can hear nature at her finest. I heard an owl one night there. I wish we could have spent more time there but we had bourbon distilleries to tour during the day and by the time we got back, it was time for bed. The host was very prompt with any communication which was very convenient. Can’t wait to come back.

Fantastic private and peaceful weekend getaway! Surrounded by hills, trees, and water. The only people we saw were on boats out in the water, but they couldn't see us, because the cabin is up the hill and hidden by the trees.
