Perfect spot for family visiting to attend graduation at University of Arizona. Left the car parked and took the Sun Link for graduation ceremonies, easy walking to restaurants. Very clean and comfortable, wish we’d found this sooner!

This is the third time we have rented this house and every time we have a terrific time. The location is perfect for the things we like to do (close to museums, university campus, restaurants, theaters, public transportation, natural beauty, freeway access). The house is always clean and well stocked so if you want to cook it’s easy to do so. Best of all the host is the perfect combination of respecting your privacy and being responsive to whatever you might need.

WE booked for 11 days during the Gem Show. The location was within a block of the streetcar stop, which went directly to the Convention Center, so that was very handy and fun to ride with the UA college students. We enjoyed the coffee shop across the street, the comfortable beds and linens, and the well-stocked kitchen. The owner responded quickly when we asked for some additional kitchen supplies. On the con side, the funiture was not comfortable, and was dated. Also on some nights, our sleep was disrupted with drag racing on 4th Avel; probably not a probem for short term stays. We didn't use the windowless large dining room, but thought it would make a great tv/theater room!

We really enjoyed our stay. Ian was very responsive. We appreciated the amenities like coffee, tea and quite a few spices, Kleenexes, shampoo and the card and board games. No conditioner, which we ended up having to purchase so just something to note if you stay here. Highly recommend this location and Maggie's Cafe just across the street. We went there for breakfast 3 mornings in a row. :)

We booked this property to visit the UofA with our daughter. Check-in was simple. The house was clean and has plenty of space for everyone to be comfortable. The floorplan is a bit funky but that's typical of a 100-yr. old home which this is. The location is super convenient for visits to the UofA, Fourth Avenue and downtown. The streetcar goes right by throughout the day and night and you can walk pretty much everywhere. As some other reviews have mentioned, it can get quite noisy at night, as the restaurant across the street played loud music until around 10pm and there was a lot of car/motorcycle activity until around 2am. But we expected that and just turned on some extra fans to drown out the noise and it was manageable. There is a tv but there isn't cable to watch lots of channels so we headed down to a local bar to watch some football which was just fine. Owner was very responsive throughout the booking process and stay. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would gladly visit again.

We have stayed in this home numerous times and will definitely stay there again. It is clean, comfortable, and the location is perfect to walk to all of the restaurants and shops on 4th Ave. The hosts have made this a wonderful space that feels cozy and inviting.

A perfect way to enjoy the culture of the University area.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! My 18 year old son and I were visiting the University of Arizona. I chose this property to be able to give him a feel of the area around the college including 4th Ave, the houses in that area, and enjoying the people walking around and bike riding from the front porch. Ian and Allison were wonderful hosts! We would definitely stay again at the Sawtelle House!!

Historic property in great location
The home and yard are clean and well tended. The location was fantastic for walking to shops, the University, and downtown. We especially appreciated the artwork in the home, the comfortable bed, good-size kitchen, the outdoor grill, the washer/dryer and strong wi-fi. The host, Ian, responded in a timely manner to questions. Overall, an excellent stay!

Cute historical property in good walkable location
Cool updated historical house in a great location so you can walk to alot of restaurants, pubs, coffee shops. Place is very well kept and clean. The rooms are a little chopped up and confusing at first, but a nice place to stay for sure.

Beautiful Historic Home in a Great Location
We really enjoyed our stay at the Sawtelle House! The home is spacious, clean, comfortable and simply but beautifully decorated. The home is well stocked with everything you could need for your stay. Check In/Check Out was simple and parking is right in front of the house. The location is perfect if you are visiting the UofA or just want a weekend getaway that is close to restaurants, bars and shopping. There is a great coffee shop right across the street and bunches of restaurants and bars within walking distance on 4th Avenue. Thank you, Ian. We will definitely stay here again!

Excellent location, home, and host
It can be difficult to find a good combination of price, location, charm, and host. This one has it all. Spacious, interesting, historic, and upgraded home that is right across the street from a cafe and a wing place. From there walking down 4th Ave has all the shopping and dining you could need. Some folks could potentially be bothered by noise as the location is on a reasonably busy intersection with bikes, pedestrians, cars, and the trolley/streetcar. Honestly though that's why we chose this one over some of the others we looked at. There is an excellent small market about 1.5 blocks away and so much to do. We enjoyed our stay thoroughly and will definitely consider staying here if price and availablility meet our needs in the future. Thanks Ian, it was nice meeting you in person. Thanks again for everything.

Weekend getaway
The house on E. University is very comfortable and well managed. Perfect location to walk into town and is in a cute residential neighborhood that felt very safe. Tucson, AZ has some great parks to hike and we enjoyed our visit to the Titan Missile Museum. Old Tucson was not open and we did not go to the Desert Museum because they do not allow pets. We stayed at the house with our dog and the layout was very convenient because there is a little fenced in yard out back where Summer could go and hang out with out worrying that she could get away.

Second time as great as the first!
We loved the house so much the first time that we came back. It was just as wonderful the second time around! We just love everything about it—sitting out on the front porch reading or eating meals, the Epic Cafe right across the street, the Rogue Theater less than a block away, two tram stops within sight, restaurants, downtown... I could go on but you get the idea. Location, location, location...The house is comfortable, clean, and nicely decorated. We had a great time and so will you!

Weekend in Tucson
The Sawtelle House is in a prime location for access to Tucson's 4th Ave, University District and Downtown by walking or biking. The house is gorgeous, clean and filled with beautiful original art.
The only downside is that being at a significant intersection meant that it could be pretty noisy on weekend nights.
There are more rules around cleaning and leaving the home in a particular way than is typical for home rentals, but the caretakers were very quick to respond about any questions and we didn't have any trouble meeting their requests.
I highly recommend this home as a way to be in the center of it all on your trip to Tucson. We would definitely stay here again.

Excellent location, plenty of space
The house is spacious and perfectly located between the 4th Avenue district and the UofA campus, within walking distance of art galleries, theaters, restaurants, museums and a couple of small grocery stores. The kitchen is large and well equipped and the dining room table sits 8. Nice tiled walk-in shower. We understand this property allows pets, which probably explains why it wasn't as clean as we would have liked.

Killer location if you are visiting UofA
This house is in a prime walking location to the UofA campus! It's a little older and stocked with the bare minimums, but the location and ease of check in/out makes it worth it. Parking is super simple as well which can be tough when you get close to campus. Very happy with this rental.

Great Visit
This property was perfect for us, and I would have given it all five stars but it did get loud at night since we were right next to the university. Everything was clean and clearly marked inside with any needed instructions.
Would definitely stay here again!

The location was great for UofA and other fun restaurants. The house is historic and lovely. Very pet friendly!
But.... I did not like all the streetcar, bus, and traffic noises. Bring Earplugs!

Awesome location, walk or ride to the best of Tucson
Cool historic home in the heart of Tucson. Trolley stop right out the door, walk to the U, and Time Market only a block away. We’ve always stayed near family in Marana on past trips to Tucson, but this is our new favorite home base.

Bitter Sweet
Overall this house is nice and a good location. I don't prefer to have cameras in the house or little signs telling me how to flush, use the ac and almost everything. The cameras only point at the front and back doors from the inside but I still don't like them. Unfortunately it was family weekend and we had a few too many people over. While everything was being conducted respectfully the owner was not happy with me. Ian I apologize again for the party. However we left the house perfect and were blamed for breaking a doorknob that is not used for locking the house. It didn't work great to start but I figured it was old and was not a locking lock anyway and did not report it. There was not physical damage so I guess it didn't turn well enough when we left. In the future I'll be sure to request permission from owners to have people over.

College Central!
If you want to be right in the middle of the action in Tucson and U of A, this is the place. About a half a mile either way to campus and downtown. Trolley right out front door to boot!
