About this house rental
Lillie by the Sea is completely remodeled and updated in the Fall of 2018. Located in idyllic Summerland, a classic California beach town that is just south of Santa Barbara. The home is a 5-minute walk from cozy cafes, restaurants, coffee shops, a wine-tasting bar and several retailers. The closest beach is only a 10-minute walk away, accessed via Lookout Park, which has children's playground and a paved trail leading down the bluff to the long and wide white-sand beach.
The front deck has a Bistro table and chairs, providing an unobstructed view of the ocean and its perfect sunsets. Entering into the home, leads you to a fun beach vibe interior with gorgeous wood floors, crisp white walls, and a cozy modern décor. The living room has a giant curved glass window that looks out to the Pacific Ocean. Relax on the sectional sofa while enjoying time with friends, or turn on the large flat-screen TV and curl up to watch a movie. If you feel like taking a break from the world-class cuisine that the neighboring towns of Santa Barbara and Montecito have to offer, utilize the fully-equipped and completely remodeled kitchen. There is a dining table inside that seats 6. There is also an outdoor table for six on the back deck that is accessed through the kitchen's French doors.
A chef's gas BBQ can help bring an essential flame-broiled flavor to every meal. In the mornings, you can grab your cup of Joe from the Keurig coffee maker before you head out for a fun day of activities. At the end of your day, you may want to enjoy a glass of wine or a cocktail by the outdoor gas fire pit with a built-in wrap-around bench. Both bedrooms, and the master bathroom, have modern ceiling fans to help keep the in-room climate to your liking. There is a private deck off the second bedroom for another view of the gleaming ocean. Both bedrooms have flat-panel TVs, and the Master bath has a large and welcoming newly remodeled walk-in tile shower.

Adorable beach cottage with all the amenities and tons of charm. The train whistle added to the ambience. Perfect beach days followed by relaxing in the porch and yard. Wish we could have stayed longer.

We had a wonderful stay. The house is very nice, even better than the photos. The yard creates a beautiful little oasis. The house is next to the freeway but we didn’t mind at all, having such great views of the ocean far outweighed any noise

Great property overall with an amazing back patio with fireplace. The pictures are really accurate.

My mom, sister, and I had a great visit at Lillie by the Sea! The house was clean and comfortable and the ocean view was quite nice! The location is good - within walking distance to stores and restaurants in Summerland and an easy drive to Santa Barbara. The backyard is nice and we enjoyed the fire pit as well. They do mention this, but note it is close to the 101 so there is some traffic noise. The sound machine they put in the front bedroom is helpful. We definitely enjoyed our stay!

Beautiful view, comfortable home, walkable places, and easy drive to many more activities. We loved our stay!

Our family of four really enjoyed our stay over the 4th of July long weekend as the property is located in an easily accessible area with plenty of on street parking.
Enjoyed the front and back sitting areas, kitchen, and all of the beach supplies for our daily outings. Close to Santa Barbara, Montecito, and walking distance to local cafe and restaurants. Ample space for 4 with 2 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms.
Family would stay again and will recommend to others.

Nice area. Walking distance to Beach. Near freeway, so can be a little loud at night but they let you know and provide a noise machine

Cute little house in Summerland with good outdoor amenities and a view of the ocean.

Fantastic property in Summerland! Great backyard for barbecuing and hanging out in the evenings. Lovely front porch for morning coffee with an ocean view. We had an amazing weekend!

We enjoyed our time in Summerland. The listing was as described. The road noise is there but the sound machines help at night. A couple cobwebs in the kitchen that could be cleaned up. We suspect there might have been a cat in or around the house. 2 of us are allergic and our allergies were acting up. A cat did sit by the outside door and cry one night. If the house has had pets inside, I would disclose that. Other than that,We had a great time

Very comfortable and very enjoyable place with great ocean views. The only thing was that the freeway noise but we got used to it. Overall, we enjoyed the place very much.

The place was beautiful, amazing ocean views, kind and helpful correspondence, and the sound machine in the front bedroom to block traffic noise worked excellently. We are 4 adult friends who get together regularly to work on our PhD dissertations, and this worked well for us. We'll be back!

The house worked well for us

It was a great spot to stay for a wedding we were attending in Montecito. The backyard was fantastic and gave us the extra space to spread out and get away from each other. Quick walk to coffee, breakfast, and shops. None of us noticed unreasonable noise from the highway. One day the highway and Lillie Ave were backed up all day due to emergency construction further up the 101. We just watched the traffic all day, walked for food, and made it out just after everything cleared to get to the wedding. It’s a cute and convenient spot and the house had everything we needed. It’s not a huge place but it’s very comfortable, even for 6 adults.

Overall, a lovely and comfortable house. The outdoor spaces are incredible and the inside is very well decorated. We brought my older parents to the area and they were super comfortable. The bathrooms (and water pressure) were great and the bedrooms got incredibly dark. We did not have any major noise issues either.
It is definitely an older house so can smell a little musty and the primary bedroom door did not fully shut, but beyond that no complaints!

I was disappointed and felt misled by the pictures of the home. Booking it quickly because of the photos and fit for our family, I didn’t do a thorough job reading the reviews. Cottage is darling! Walkable to downtown Summerland, and if want exercise, a walk to the beach. But the road, the train tracks, then freeway with massive road construction are basically the front yard. The noise was awful. We had hoped to sit in the front yard reading and drinking coffee, or in the backyard for a peaceful evening. With AirPods listening to music it was doable. We will not be renting this home in the future.

We enjoyed our stay here. The house had everything we needed and it was a cozy spot. Yes, there is highway noise, but the sound machine made it unnoticeable for sleeping. The beds are comfortable and the outdoor fire was a delight. Thanks again!

Lillies by the Sea was a nice getaway for us. When sitting in the living room or dining room you have a beautiful view of palm trees and the ocean. It is right next to Highway 101 and the Amtrak train line so there is noise, and while we were there construction on 101 was happening during the night. The back bedroom is very quiet, the front one gets the noise. There is a really nice grill and outdoor fire pit in the backyard that were easy to use. Lots of shops and a couple of restaurant were in walking distance. Has very easy access to the freeway both North and South Bound.

The house was extremely cozy and all the beds were super comfortable, we all slept great. The constant view out the front bay window of the ocean is what it is all about, very relaxing. Just be prepared for some freeway noise but the host provided white noise machines. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this home!

Summerland delight!
Lovely property. Spacious and well maintained. Not a cookie cutter house, for sure!

Could Not Recommend
This house is very old and it is right on the freeway. There is not just a little freeway noise - there is constant, loud, rumbling freeway noise. Having the windows open is a must because the house gets stuffy. But the noise is unbearable.
The bathroom throw rugs were filthy. The towels were grey and dingy. This is not a place I would ever return to.

Fabulous Weekend Getaway
We loved this property! It was a perfect place to relax and enjoy some quite family time. Location was great - close to beaches, restaurants, freeway, and SB! The front porch was so relaxing and the house was decorated perfectly! We loved everything about it... only comment is there were a lot of spiders & bugs in the bedroom & bathroom but we are sure that is just beach living! We highly recommend this adorable little house to anyone visiting the area!

Cozy and relaxing place
A beautiful and relaxing place for a small family. The property is clean, well kept and feels cozy. The house and the ocean view outweigh the noise from the street and train whistle. The house is right on the main street ( street parking ) and close to railroad track. The door knob at the masters bedroom needs update that will actually lock the door. overall, we love the place and will rent again.

Wonderful home!
We loved this home. It was clean and well equipped for cooking. The location was very convenient and within walking distance from restaurants and shops. There is construction on the 101 but you can’t hear it when you’re in the house. Will definitely book it again! Thanks.

great spot
My wife, two children and I had a lovely time at Lillie By The Sea. The house was comfy, well appointed and clean. The backyard was perfect for dinner.
Anyone renting in Summerland has to keep in mind can be noisy due to the proximity to the 101. This pertains to most of Summerland and is not specific to this house. Having said this, the road noise was negligible and not obtrusive from the back / main bedroom and not noticeable when the front door was closed.
The location is great if you want to walk anywhere in town. Field + Fort is just a block south and the main part of town is a few blocks north making it easy to shop at the housewares stores and get a cup of coffee in the morning. The beach is about a 15 minute walk or a 3 minute drive.

Cute house in a great location
Very cute house, well decorated, fully stocked with everything we needed. The street/highway/train noise and traffic is loud when out front but the view makes up for it. We loved the location, walking distance to town, close to Montecito and Santa Barbara. The property management company was very friendly and responsive.

Making memories
We celebrated 2 birthdays-most notably a 5 year olds. Loved the spacious house, the view of the ocean, the quick walk to the beach. Lovely place. We had Very Noisy neighbors a few nights. Oh well.

Comfortable Family Stay
The house was perfect for my husband, myself and our 2 adult children (who were willing to share a bedroom). The backyard patio is great for eating, grilling and relaxing and we enjoyed the fire pit at night. The inside space allowed plenty of room for each of us to carve out a spot. Beds were comfortable. The master bathroom does have a glass door that leads to a side porch. There is no window dressing on that side door so anyone walking by on the porch can see directly into the bathroom. This could easily be fixed. The view of the ocean from the house is beautiful. The noise of the road makes sitting on the front porch less pleasant and can be heard from the second bedroom but this is true of most houses in the area I'm sure. The walk to the beach was about 15 minutes through the tiny town. We enjoyed that but be aware there is no direct access to the beach from the rental. We would definitely rent this house again.

Everything we imagine!d!
This house was very clean and had a beautiful view. They made checking in and out very easy. All the little things we needed were available such as space heaters, extra blankets, kitchenware and even beach gear! Would recommend!

Fantastic property. The view is incredible, the kitchen is stocked with all the necessary tools, the backyard is a great place to hang out all day, and there are many great beaches within a short drive. Some reviews mention the road noise... it's there, but if you live in a city you probably won't even notice it (we didn't) when inside or in the backyard. The front porch, however, gets loud enough that you have to talk over the road noise. We would definitely stay here again.
