Pleasant stay
Nicely decorated apartment, very close to quay and all amenities, the designated parking spot just along from the apartment is very handy.
Think front door could I with an extra step as it’s quite a drop, possibly not helped by the outside light being on a one second timer!
Enjoyed our weekend and would happily return to Curlew apartment.

Much needed break
Curlew apartment is ideal for two people. It has everything you need and is very centrally located in Wells. Over the last 20 years we have visited Wells many times. This four night break was during February which was windy, wet and quite wild. The shower in the apartment was really appreciated after some walks in the wet weather. The only slight downside for us was the fact that the bedroom was quite cold because there is no heating in there. Would recommend without any reservation.

Top Marks!
Having stayed in Wells next the sea many times. This was the first time we had chosen to go self-catering. So pleased we did! Curlew Apartment met all our needs and expectations for an excellent break in a beautiful town.

Curlew Stay
Wells is amazing! Have been going for twelve years! Have stayed at different apartments and cottages and all have been very good. Curlew apartment is in a fantastic location! Has everything you need for your stay but the let down was the cleaness when we arrived! We had to wash all the crockery and cutlery the microwave was covered inside with exploded baked beans and other food stuffs, the bathroom was dirty, and the shower screen filthy ....and the fridge is covered in rust!!
The bed is one of the comfiest we have slept in, could have bought it home!! This is the first time we have ever left a negative review, but it is well deserved...I have recommended to others but take a polish and duster with you. The house Elf needs re training in cleaning or sacking!!

Well located and comfortable apartment.
The only issue we had was finding some dog hair in the bottom of the fridge, otherwise it is a very well appointed holiday apartment with everything we needed. The location is excellent just a short walk from the quay and the shops, restaurants and pubs. Would stay here again.

Nice place to be.
Parking is a little tight. Noise from upstairs can be an issue. But on the whole a nice flat well positioned ideal for two people.

Clean, modern flat in ideal location
Curlew is right in the heart of Wells near the quay. It has its own parking space and once you've parked up you won't really need the car again. Shops, pubs, beach all nearby. Nice clean apartment - perfect for a weekend break.

Good location, property could do with updating.
The property is great for proximity to Quay and shops, but was disappointed with the quality of decoration and fittings. The front door was difficult to open and close, no welcome pack or even pepper and salt!! The wardrobe was half full with duvets and pillows so could not hang up any dresses etc.

Curlew holiday
We enjoyed our stay mainly due to the perfect central location. The accommodation was reasonably comfortable and what we expected. All in all it's good value.

A Superb Location
We booked Curlew Apartment for a long weekend very last minute. The location was brilliant, literally 20 feet from the quayside but tucked in a quiet side street, not that Wells-next-the-Sea is at all noisy. The apartment was perfect for us, a couple with a dog, very clean and beautifully decorated. My only criticism would be the price which I thought was excessive for what was on offer and maybe why it was available at short notice.

Good but basic
The appartment was clean and well situated for all amenities in Wells.
We found it was only basically equipped.A washing machine but nowhere to dry washing,an ironing board but no iron and no vacuum cleaner. The feather filled cushions moulted feathers all week and with no vacuum we were having to pick them up by hand.
We always holiday with Norfolk Hideaways and have found them very good. This appartment served us ok,but not to the standard we are used to.

Surprised Norfolk Hideaways have such a sub standard property on their books.
“Very surprised that Norfolk Hideaways have this sub-standard holiday let on their books.”
Reviewed 1 week ago for a stay in March 2018 NEW
Admittedly - we arrived just over an hour early to the allotted time, but as the key was available in the key safe we decided to drop our bags in and go shopping. This is a self catering holiday let.
The problems started when we tried unlocking the front door. It took ages as the lock is not central to the keyhole. On entry the flat was very warm indeed. An electric radiator (which is filthy) was on in the hallway and the storage heaters in all the rooms were at full blast. This lead us to believe that there hadn't been any guests in for a while.
We put some food supplies in the kitchen which is bijou putting it mildly and there is no cupboard space to store food at all. On inspection the hob had not been cleaned, the oven was dirty and the cooker hood dripped with grease. Also the induction hob has a chip out of it which (we read in the visitors/maintenance book) a guest had already cut themselves on. The bottom of the fridge door is rusty and the ceiling lights obviously hadn't been cleaned for a very long time.
Into the bathroom - no towels. The bath was dusty (again indicating that the property had been empty for a while). The bottom of the bathroom window was mouldy and the handrails are going rusty. The skirting boards were thick with dust. We called Norfolk Hideways and they told us off for going in early and interrupting the clean and that the cleaner would drop the towels off whilst doing the school run. So clearly no time left for a proper clean. Shocked, we decided to take some pictures so that we could drive up to Nortfolk Hideaways and show them what was not acceptable.
There were cobwebs on the ceiling in both the lounge and the kitchen and the front door had to be locked for it to stay shut and a huge draft comes in at the bottom of the door. The walls really need painting as they are badly scuffed.
In the bedroom there were no chests of drawers and the wardrobe was crammed with extra pillows for the sofa bed. The floors in the bedroom were dirty and the skirting boards thick with dust.
There were no cleaning materials available and so we couldn't attempt anything ourselves.
We then drove up to show Norfolk Hideaways the pictures. Again we were cautioned for entering the property early but arranged to meet with one of their reps back at the property at 4.00 pm.
The rep arrived, together with the lady responsible for the cleaning and a young drafted in to help. The representative made a list of the issues and gave s a very hard hearted apology. We did ask if we could be moved but were told it was out of the question as they had paid owner.
The lady responsible for the cleaning implied that she employed a cleaner to do the work and acknowledged that the apartment was both unclean and claustrophobic. The young chap took the spare bedding out of the wardrobe and stacked it on the top - this freed up three shelves for folded clothes. He also cleaned the oven, hob and the cooker hood. We showed the lady responsible for the cleaning, the visitors/maintenance book and all the adverse comments. One comments especially stood out from late on in 2017. "this apartment needs a deep clean." She said she had only just taken over the cleaning but once she and her young chap had finished (about half an hour later) a deep clean is what is needed - plus some repainting.
Compared to the thirty or so other properties I have stayed in here in Wells next the Sea, the 1* reflects the standard in comparison to all the other wonderful breaks I've enjoyed here. We were presented with a bottle of Prosecco to smooth things over. It will remain here - unopened.

A lovely location but the apartment was uncomfortable. I will not be returning
The location of the Curlew apartment was excellent. It was wonderful to be within a minutes walk of the seafront. I was however disappointed with the interior of the apartment. The lounge was a decent size but unfortunately the seating was uncomfortable. There was a washing macihine in the kitchen but no clothes or rotary line in the small outside area. It therefore proved impossible to dry any washing. I have rented numerous self catering accommodation over the years but this apartment fell short of the normal standard

Good in general, but let down by the details
You set the bar high as you tell us in the handbook that you belonging to a prestigious Quality Mark shared with e.g. Holiday Bond. This is a delightful apartment but the devil is in the detail and some details were not were not up to standard. Arrival is a downer: the front door is shabby, the bell rusty (and a dead basil plant on the step). Bedroom, bathroom and living room spotless, but cleaner needs more time to check and, if necessary, sort the kitchen: crockery piled in the cupboard higgledy piggledy, cups not very clean, also cutlery. Grill pan needed washing. One or two basic items lacking, like a colander.
It did not look like you are monitoring the property closely: the broken handle on the bedroom window had been reported several weeks ago but not been repaired.
All in all, not enough to lead me to phone and complain, especially as I had already sorted the kitchen myself. I should have raised the matter of the dim lighting, which is certainly not bright enough for older people to read by ( I used a torch). We enjoyed our week and managed OK, but I guess felt this was not good value for the price paid, which is why regretfully I am not able to recommend.
