About this farm stay rental
Cozy Wine Country Farmhouse: Hot Tub, Deck, Fireplace & Views
This is a tranquil retreat in a magnificent setting, surrounded by fruit trees, oaks, and a private garden with views of horses in the pastures below. Relax in the hot tub while looking at majestic oaks and the night sky. You will love the way natural light floods the house, and the feeling of being out in nature even when you are inside.
The early 1900s farmhouse is the original house on a large horse ranch and vineyard in Sonoma County. It sits at the intersection of two idyllic country roads and offers a secluded retreat that is both rural, with horse pastures and surrounding vineyards, and within minutes to some of the best wineries and activities in Sonoma and Napa.
The 1300 square foot house is on two levels, with three bedrooms, a full bath and a half bath. It has a fully equipped kitchen, dining room and a living room with a gas insert fireplace.
The one-acre private yard has a lawn, deck with bistro lights, propane grill and lots of outdoor seating options. Relax in the hot tub while looking at horse pastures, a grove of California oaks, and the night sky. The heirloom home orchard features Luther Burbank's best known varietals (including Santa Rosa Plum), and Sonoma's own Gravenstein apples (red and green variety).
The garden attracts many birds, including hummingbirds, and in the evenings, there is a frog symphony from the nearby seasonal pond.
Perfect for couples, friends, and families. The house is convenient if you are attending a wedding in the area. We are in Sonoma County, but just a few miles from the Napa County line. There are numerous fine wineries around us. And you are 5 minutes away from a great grocery store.
**TESLA EV charger adapter: Please let us know if you will need the adapter to charge your electric vehicle and we will be happy to provide it for you.**
*Secluded and comfortable*
The 3 bedrooms feature comfortable mattresses and room darkening blinds. The quiet nights, the occasional neighing of horses and the absence of neighbors help ensure a deep sleep. Winter and spring, there is a frog symphony from the pond below the house.
Spring and summer, there are lots of birds (including hummingbirds) in the garden. The house has air conditioning, fiber optic internet and a Roku TV connected to cable and Netflix.
*Guest Access* You have access to the whole house, with the exception of a locked utility closet, and to the enclosed, secluded garden. There is plenty of parking outside.
Private Chef Services Available - We can connect you to a wonderful private chef who does personalized menus, food and wine pairings, and olive oil tastings
*Centrally located*
7.5 miles to Santa Rosa, Sonoma County’s seat
9.5 miles to Calistoga along a scenic road
12 miles to Saint Helena, along a beautiful, winding road of vineyards
20 miles to Healdsburg

The equestrian facility, a former Arabian breeding and sales barn, is available for a small number of events a year. Your special event can be held in one of the cedar barns and in the large open courtyard at the center of the equestrian complex. Please see pictures above and contact us for more details.

Alpine Ranch Farmhouse is aptly named. It is charmingly rustic, clean, and cozy with amenities as described. We were thankful for the mini split room ACs as we arrived in a heat wave. However, cooler temperatures in the evenings allowed us to open the ample windows to experience cool breezes throughout the night and birdsong in the mornings.
The property is home to gardens filled with various fruit trees, grapevines, and flowering shrubs that attract a flock of hummingbirds. It's also surrounded by a working horse ranch which was fun to observe. Various outdoor seating areas provide a chance to sit and relax and experience nature.
While it feels like one is in a remote setting, stores and shops are just a few minutes away, and beautiful wineries abound in the area.
The host is an excellent communicator, providing a detailed electronic guestbook that is full of information about the property and surrounding areas. We enjoyed our stay as I'm sure future guests will.

Great location for wine tours. Very nice being on a horse farm vs busy town. Only 3 mile drive to a few restaurants and grocery stores. Very big yard and fun outdoor eating space. Only 15 minute drive up the mountain to Pride Family winery and 15 minutes the opposite direction to Calistoga where we visited Sterling, Clos Pegase and Frank Family winery. All great wineries.

Alpine Ranch is wonderful! Clean, quiet, peaceful, everything you could want is provided. Very cozy, comfortable retreat. Lots of birds in a beautiful oak grove, best place for a morning coffee. Excellent location for exploring wine country. We had a wonderful time - definitely coming back. Caroline is an awesome host! Always quick replies, great recommendations, very knowledgeable. Ron is great. Only complaint is that we had to leave! Thank you again for such a great place.

Enjoy a wonderful farmhouse in the hills between Santa Rosa and Calistoga. The grounds around the house are fantastic with old oaks, new plantings, plenty of song birds, and ample outdoor seating. The farmhouse sits on a old Arabian horse farm and vineyard, which is a vista for the senses. There is plenty of room for five though only a bath and a half. The laundry machines are also a plus. The kitchen is well-stocked and the sitting room is spacious and comfortable. Ron oversees the grounds and is very gracious and informative. Overall, it was a five star weekend.

Alpine Ranch is surrounded by a peaceful country setting, and only a short drive from Santa Rosa grocery stores and numerous vineyards. We enjoyed relaxing under the moonlit sky while gazing at stars. The Farmhouse was beautifully decorated with a fully stocked kitchen, updated bathroom and comfortable beds. We also loved the surround sound system, fireplace, and back deck. The property manager was very welcoming and helpful. We loved our visit and would definitely stay again. Highly recommend!

We were two couples in Sonoma/Napa for a wine tasting adventure. The cottage is lovely, well provisioned with a welcoming gas fireplace, providing a cozy home for a cool spring gathering of friends. It is nestled in the hills outside of Santa Rosa, an easy midpoint to northern destinations in Napa Valley and Sonoma. Caroline and Ron (caretaker) were very helpful, with great advice on how to maximize our time in the area and gifted a nice bottle of wine upon our arrival. We would definitely recommend this property for a gathering, keeping in mind there is only one full bathroom to share. We are grateful for the lovely stay.

My two friends and I LOVED this beautiful, cozy yet spacious farm house for our girls' retreat. The beds were comfy; the kitchen had everything we needed; and the living room was the perfect hangout spot. The only thing we would have loved is better water pressure in the shower and softer towels. The views of the horses, the birds and the stars at night were spectacular. Ron, the onsite property manager, was so warm and kind. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

This cabin was the perfect get away for my husband and our friends. It had all the modern conveniences, but still the rustic charm. Ron & Caroline were wonderful hosts & communicators. Our extended family rented the farm house for a long weekend attending a special event. We greatly enjoyed the peace and tranquility of the location. It was a beautiful spot and a lovely retreat from the world. Ron and Caroline were super responsive and quick to address our questions. Walking the orchard and walking up to the views of the horses brought us back to our childhoods. I highly recommend it!

Great experience
The property was a great escape from the heat and crowds of the northern Napa valley- yet very accessible- only 20 mins to Calistoga. Very peaceful and the large gardens and horse farm provides a great ambiance. The onsite property manager is very responsive and the place is charming. Would definitely come back!
