Pleasant and may be worth using the Chestnut Group again at another destination.

Ambiance good, breakfast excellent, Evening meal good , but, perhaps not enough attention to food for the elderly. At our age we do not require massive quantities and traditional grub is adequate in small portions.

Poor water pressure for the shower. A summer weight duvet would have been appreciated. We cooked under the standard one. When we took the cover off to sleep under just that, we found the duvet itself not very clean !

great value stay

First impressions were very positive as i entered the bar. Took me to the rooms and wow what a lovely room for the price. Went in the bar and had a great pint and slept well through storm Isha. Breakfast was awesome and wonderful to find out its history with the Olivers owning it for so long and the nest for Jamie. The lady at breakfast was very helpful and told me all about the history whilst delivering a yummy full English

Per chi arriva in aereo .è un pò fuori mano dall'aeroporto. Ma si può tranquillamente arrivare con taxi e bus

Very enjoyable stay.

The room was beautifully appointed, spacious and comfortable. Evening food delicious. Staff friendly, helpful and enjoyed a good banter. Good choice for breakfast but my English was overcooked and dry (suspect it had been sitting under heat lamps).

Squeaky floorboards and footsteps from the room above also we could hear them using the toilet and shower - they got up very early and seemed to be training for a marathon in their room!

Room was comfortable, it was frosty time and room was lovely and warm and completely adjustable, I thought the value was good with the included breakfast being excellent

A cracking stay!!

I have stayed several times pre-pandemic and despite a change in ownership, it remains one of my favs when in the area. The staff are lovely, the rooms are a step up from the usual and the food is outstanding. Stay here, you won't be disappointed.

Had a great few days staff very friendly and gave us lots of ideas on things to do. Food was good and room was very nice

Ok was clean wouldn’t stay again as room so dark needs repainting white or magnolia

Room very dark, light bulb in ceiling flickering needs replacing larger mirror on wall too big misplaced unless they’re for pleasure purposes ! Not for everyone kettle placed under tv not by refreshments put tv where mirror overpriced menu for what it is breakfast disappointing as fish small and full of bones

May not stay again our ground floor room on a noisy road.

Good breakfast and servers friendly

Man who showed us to our room no welcome at all. Never stated anything about our room facilities nor times of breakfast etc. Evening meal staff miserable. Food over priced.

Not as good as I had hoped.

Vegetarian/vegan options at breakfast. Large very comfortable bed. Pleasant surroundings. Good toiletries in pump dispensers. Very good shower.

There were no chairs in our room - I took two cushions and sat on the toilet cover to read. The room was across the road, not in the Cricketers building. There was no hot water to have a shower or wash in the basin on our last morning. It was rectified later on after we (and other guests) mentioning it. The light above the basin did not work - I reported it and was told that, although it had already been reported the day before, it was unlikely to be repaired until after our stay; we stayed for four nights and it wasn't repaired.

Delightful Rural Pub in wonderful English countryside.

Delightful pub accommodation in delightful countryside. Excellent, roomy accommodation in annex. Great food and a lovely bar. Surrounding villages are very old and picturesque. The essential English pub experience.

Could hear the people above, creaking floorboards and useof the bathroom, but didn't bother us in the night A little slow at breakfast but that was understandable as went at busy time

Room had bags of character and there were lots of nice little touches Large comfortable bed, quiet room, excellent breakfast included Good tea and coffee provided in room

Bathroom was lovely but shower was woefully inadequate pressure and the drain was equally slow to get rid of water Apart from that everything was excellent

The place was lovely but very noisy early in the morning with car whizzing by. That was the only negative. Otherwise everything was great.
