We spent 3 days 2 nights at the cottage and it was lovely. Only minus is some ants running around but Bruce was on top of it quickly. Highly recommend!

I just wanted to say what a beautiful place, even Mr echidna made a surprise visit. We had a wonderful time at the property, it has a beautiful view, the house was amazing and we totally loved it, did not want to leave. The gardens were a treat and we did enjoy the surrounds of Kiama too, beach, cafe's etc. Thanks so much, we will be back again. Regards Sharon

What a gorgeous place to stay. A beautiful house in a Really beautiful location. Gorgeous views. Ample parking. Well equipped kitchen with enough to cater adequately for a full house of guests.
Will be back. Loved it.
Note: the main bathroom has a bath with a hand shower. So some of us showered in the bedroom ensuites. And if you sleep with the windows open you will hear the freeway.

School girls catching up for a weekend of shopping & fun. Great indoor fire kept the house nice & warm, well suited for 4-5 couples, plenty of room. & well equipped kitchen.
Would of been helpful to have a broom to sweep the floors, this would be the only criticism as it wasn’t provided.

Overall great place. Some bits showing some wear, but great location, good size rooms, good outdoors, good view. Could do with some aircon upstairs for hot days. Comfortable for 9 adults and two kids under 2.

Beautiful views. We were a group of 9 adults, but still had plenty of room to move. Well-equipped new kitchen, plus plenty of appliances. Lovely shady side lawn for picnic lunches or afternoon drinks beside the huge fig tree,
Only downsides were the hardness of the beds and the BBQ is not gas fueled.
Would recommend and stay there again.

Had a great time at the property, lots of space for the toddlers to play. Close to Kiama and the beaches.

This property is a very well kept secret. The house was equipped with everything you need. The many rooms and bathrooms accommodated a large group with ease. I would highly recommend this property for a group that want to feel like they are in the country but close to the town. My only thought and not at all a negative suggestion is the beds were hard. Overall a great experience.

We loved the property. We were a little disappointed that the little things were missing... no wood for the fireplace or for the fire pit, no milk for a cuppa, no tea bags, sugar in a broken bag in top cupboard. Just the small things that make arriving easier.

Excellent position and room for our family and friends get together. Safety lock for key was very hard to open. Door from bedroom to ensuite in lower front bedroom needs fixing.
Need a few instructions re where firewood is and how to work TV. We couldn't get it to work but it was a very wet weekend.

Kiama's secret rundown, dangerous, unrentable, unrefundable cottage!
The owner/host has allowed this property to become rundown (the photos on the listing are not representative of the current state of the property). The host, when contacted about access issues (only lockable door inaccessible due to a blocked drain that caused the paved entrance to flood), was neither surprised (so obviously a known problem) nor apologetic - I provided photos and videos at that time. Moreover, the host, when contacted about a range of other problems with the property (everything from the poor state of cleaning, missing amenities, lack of wifi, the broken toilet, and the serious security issues) stated that some things could be fixed and some couldn't - if you have problems that could be fixed they should and if you have problems that can't be fixed, you don't rent out your property.
He even went so far as to suggest that we simply should not have stayed when arriving to discover the entrance was inaccessible (after paying our non-refundable fee).
As you will see from the listing, there are no refunds - not even when the property is unfit for renting! I'm sure he would have been happy for us to walk away from our family weekend and our $X,000+ dollars and spared himself my complaints. Oh, and only after you book do you get communication about all the other conditions you have to adhere to with threats of penalties up to $X,000 if you breach these conditions (again, I have them all in writing). This behaviour is in breach of the Competition and Consumer Act, the Trade Practices Act and the Stayz Terms and Conditions). This property should not be allowed on this (or any other) rental accomodation site until all problems are resolved and host understands his legal obligations... if only I could upload all the photos and videos I took while there for other unsuspecting would-be guests! Do yourself a favour and look for another property!

welcome break
Very pretty house and surrounding land. Nicely furnished and clean. lots of bathrooms which is great with a grown up family and partners. Sadly the weather wasn't great so we didn't get to use the bbq. Generally a very nice place

Probably better to book somewhere else!
Maybe if all went well this would have been a nice place to stay.
BUT IT DIDN'T, AND OUR EXPERIENCE WAS TERRIBLE.
I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND USING THIS HOST!
There was a huge storm forecast for the weekend we were to stay at the property. Government warnings were issued not to travel unnecessarily. I asked for a credit and/or to change the date. They agreed to changing the date and then said 'no'! All they would do was a 300.00 credit/discount for another booking.
I had already paid more than 1800.00.
To rub further salt into the wound, they cheerfully announced how they had moved booking dates during the fires and Covid 19 period.
BUT NOT FOR ME.
HOW LUCKY AM I?
Like I first said, this host is NOT worth the risk.

Magical place
Our stay here for 2 nights was really enjoyable. The place is well presented & immaculately clean. The grounds and gardens are well established (That amazing giant fig tree!) and the whole place has a great vibe and character to it. It's very private and the views and breeze while sitting on the porch are relaxing and peaceful I've seen a few reviews mention the nearby main road but it didn't bother us, sure it's there and you can hear it. But the place still has a great peaceful, serene quality to it. I would love to stay there again.

Kiama Lifestyle
One of the best in Kiama. So secluded, yet 5 mins from town.

The yard is not fenced and has steep inclines on both sides. It is not secure or safe for pets and young children. The fees also place this property in the higher end which it definitely is not. There are none of the expected extras that come with the price tag. There isn't even any heating unless you hunt out some kindling and firewood yourself. There is no door on the upstairs bathroom. The location is perfect but not much else. We will look for somewhere else next time we are in the area.

Peaceful getaway with lovely views
We had a wonderful time at this property. It was secluded and peaceful yet close to town with a beautiful view. The neighbouring horses were a great hit with the kids and our dog also had a ball running around the huge yard. Other than some minor issues (no fire starter for the log fire and some hot water issues with the shower/bath running at same time) all necessary amenities were provided. We would happily go back!

Beautiful ocean views
A spacious and charming property with beautiful views to the ocean. Well equipped with everything you need, only missing dishwasher powder on our stay. There is a bit of highway noise from the road below but quiet inside with the doors and windows closed. We had a lovely time with our family.

Charming cottage in a quiet location
Lovely cottage tucked away on Saddleback Mountain, ideal for a family get away.
Pros : Cottage was very clean with plenty of room for our group of 7. Plenty of hot water for showering and house is really close to town. Local taxis will come when you ring them.
Cons : No tablets for the dishwasher, no coal for the BBQ so using it was a bit tricky and only kindling supplied for the indoor fire no firewood. We did go out and buy these things on the Saturday but it would be nice to see these things supplied.

Cute cottage
Fantastic property with loads of space. We loved the horses in the adjacent paddock. Beautiful views of Kiama township and the ocean down the valley. The house is very spacious with a huge dining table. Plenty of bathrooms and sofas to accommodate our large group. Highly recommended for families.

Best holiday home in Kiama.
Beautiful property with outstanding views. The home itself is well appointed with all modern conveniences. We`ll be back for sure.

Lovely cottage with gorgeous views
House was very comfortable and well equipped. We were there on a very cold and windy weekend and found the house a bit chilly. While there is a wood burning stove in dining area, it would have been good to have other heating and electric blankets. Some comfy lounges downstairs would also make it extra special. Overall a great place.

The Red Cedar is charming, peaceful, quaint and exactly what you are looking for to relax
Our experience at the Red Cedar was very positive, we were immediately impressed with the property upon arrival and throughout our entire stay. The property was fully equipped and very child friendly allowing for a peaceful and enjoyable stay. The property is also very well situated in Kiama allowing for ease and convenience when visiting nearby towns and facilities which helped in maximising our time during our holiday. The Red Cedar is truly a magical place with a lovely relaxing environment perfect for any getaway; it is highly recommended and we certainly cannot wait to come back!

Fantastic property
Great property in convenient location short walk or drive to Kiama town centre and beaches. We had a week of hot weather however house was high enough to get the sea breeze and despite no aircon none was needed. Internet was poor, but that kept everyone off their phones. House is well equipped 4 bedrooms 4 bathrooms and lovely ocean views. We would stay again.

A perfect Winters getaway
We stayed at the property over the June Long weekend. Although drizzly most of the time, nothing could dampen our stay. The Red Cedar was cosy, clean and a spacious home. We had 8 adults and a couple of children within our group. We were able to share meals around the over sized dining table with the fire placing going right near by; we had enjoyable sleeps with very comfortable beds; we meet the two local horses and had the opportunity to feed them.
It felt like a real country stay with the position of the house up the mountain with a bonus view of Kiama's beach (only downside was the highway in between).
Would highly recommend this property to large groups and families (we improvised to make the space toddler safe). Next time, i'd be sure to utilise the outdoor fire pit!

Hidden Gem of Kiama
Hidden in the hills overlooking the pristine coastline, this lovely timber cottage provides a blend of traditional family comfort and modern timber luxury. It provided our family of 4 with all our needs, including a large kitchen, accomodating bedrooms and most importantly, a stunning view of the sweeping hills and valleys preceding the kiama town center. Conveniently located about a 5 min drive from the town, we had easy access to shops and cafes and made most of our time near the water. We would like extend thanks to the owners as they made it very easy for us to enjoy our stay here with everything meticulously organized and clean within the home. I would definitely recommend this stay to anyone who wants to fully experience what Kiama has to offer.
