Cottage Access
The location of Pendruffle Cottage is quite unique being set upon a hill with wonderful views overlooking the East Looe river and sea inlet. The access from the main road to the cottage is well signposted via a double wooden gate through a woodland driveway with a sharp steep right hand bend leading up to the designated car parking space for Pendruffle itself. The cottage is then approached from the car park by a down gradient pathway with a hand rail for anybody with walking issues with Pendruffle being the second cottage on your left. The cottage has its own pathway with a up gradient with a few steps leading up to the ground floor patio and entrance.
To access Looe from the cottage you turn left at the bottom of Pendruffle pathway walk up the pathway until you come to some steps leading down to Barclay House driveway where you can access "St Johns Walk" which leads onto the main road which for the very first part has no footpath so care needs to be taken on this part. The downhill walk into the village centre itself only takes approximately 10 minutes. Alternatively it is a 2 minute drive for those who do not fancy the uphill walk back to the cottage.

We had a wonderful time in Looe, hiking and cycling. Pendruffle Cottage is beautifully located and we had everything we needed to enjoy our 2 weeks vacation! Contact with the owners was great, with tips where to eat etc. In short, we recommend Pendruffle Cottage if you want to explore Cornwall!

The cottage is situated on a hill side just outside Looe town centre. It’s suitable for people without mobility problems due to an inclined pathway from the car park and steps to access the cottage. There’s a designated parking spot which is great. The driveway leading up from St Martin’s road is narrow with a steep and sharp right hand bend but take it carefully and most cars will be fine! I’d recommend driving down into Looe to avoid a walk along the busy road with no pavement. The cottage has views over the tree tops lining the valley. You can’t see the river from the cottage but the view is still nice. The cottage was clean and comfortable, well equipped and fairly spacious with three short flights of stairs leading to the kitchen and then the bedroom and bathroom. Towels and linen were provided. It has a free view tv in the lounge with Wi-Fi and Netflix (sign in yourself) which was welcome. I’d recommend this cottage to a couple wanting peace and quiet as a base to visit places such as Looe, Polperro and Mevagissy.

Lovely quiet property with easy access to Looe and the surrounding area. Exactly as described with a very comfortable bed and fluffy towels.

Very clean and well appointed property, but access was much steeper than made obvious to us. Outlook from the property was good once up there!
Thank you for a comfortable stay.

Well designed holiday cottage for two, withgreat views across the river valley. The cottage was well-equipped and suited us very well.
Visitors should be aware that the property is on a hillside, and consequently access is via a number of steps. Also, pedestrian access to Looe starts on an A-road with no walkway.

Thank you Rob for your welcome.
Pendruffle is an amazing apartment with a tremendous view, I would highly recommend. A home from home.
A short walk or drive into Looe and a fabulous base to further explore Cornwall.

The whole experience from start to finish was wonderful. An ideally located cottage, 10 minutes walk from the beautiful seaside town of Looe, and 5 minutes from train station. The host provided everything we needed for our stay, and was helpful throughout. The cottage itself in a very quiet location, ideal for a peaceful break, overlooking the Looe Valley with nothing but nature at your doorstep. Highly recommended!

Relaxing
We stayed for 6 days from 17th to 23rd June 2023
We had a lovely relaxing time in the cottage with everything you could need there, the bed is large and soo comfy didn’t want to get out of it !
The weather was kind to us which is unusual we always seem to pick the wrong week with the u.k weather being a bit hit and miss and we spent the week in shorts
It’s in a great location to explore surrounding areas
Just be careful on the little lane up and down to the parking space it freaked me out it’s very steep with a sharp turn but my little car managed it lol !
The owners give you a call to welcome you and are at the other end of the phone if you need them
Loved the bedroom balcony highly recommend 😍😍😍

Great Base
I could not recommend this place enough.
The accommodation is set out well and well appointed.
Everything you might need and more has been provided down to Tassimo coffee.
Looe is a fantastic place to be and the accommodation provides great access just a 10 minute walk away. Ok, the walk is uphill with quite a few steps but it gets the blood pumping.
If I visit this part of Cornwall again I’d definitely look to booking this property.

Beautiful property and location
Enjoyed our stay . Everything had been thought of to make guests feel at home. Only downside , which is not any fault of the owners , is the access from Looe involves a short stretch on a busy road without a pavement which was problematic for our dog. We had to carry him for that part which was very difficult up a steep incline! All in all we had a great time and would recommend the property .

Lovely property
This property was lovely, great for a couple ( and dog !). Really clean and good place to stay, loved the bedroom and its views. Short walk into Looe, very short part of which is on road without pavement but really no problem.
Only shame was the awful weather, but that can’t be helped !

We had a lovely stay at Pendruffle cottage in Looe. The lodge was very clean and comfortable. The place is quiet, which is perfect for relaxing! We opted for a holiday in a cottage during Covid-19 pandemic to generally cook our own food (or pick up takeaways) in order to avoid crowded restaurants. The kitchen provides everything you need to prepare a decent meal. The only thing missing was washing machine (laundry) detergent. We had our breakfast and dinners on the terrace each time the weather allowed it! If you are hikers, we strongly suggest to walk to the lovely fishermen’s village of Polperro. Polruan is also a must. If you want to get away from the sea, a visit at National Trust’s Lanhydrock park is worth the 30-minute car ride.

A gorgeous cottage overlooking a lovely valley.
We've enjoyed this week so much. The cottage is extremely comfortable and well equipped. You can tell the owners have not skimpt on anything that would make your stay more enjoyable.

Dust
Really liked property but felt should have been little cleaner, quite dusty especially upstairs, looked as though not done.

Just what we wanted for a romantic break
Pendruffle Cottage was just what we wanted for a week-long romantic 'babymoon' before our little one is born, even though we had rainy April weather. The cottage has everything you could need: great cooking facilities, very comfy and clean, TV (incl Netflix) & DVDs, very quiet, great bathroom and, the best, lovely green views across the valley. It's a short 20 min walk into town (note that there is all uphill coming back home) where there are lots of good restaurants, and walks along the coast. Rare to have a parking space too. Check in and out was easy as there is a key box, so you can arrive at any time. Would be lovely in the summer sitting on the terrace as it gets sun all day long and the sunset is directly across the pretty valley. Would love to come back!

Pendruffle - a beautiful cottage
We arrived, moved in and were soon sitting on the patio with our evening meal and a glass of bubbly. The cottage was roomy, well furnished and well insulated. Everything was well prepared and worked as it should. So we had an enjoyable stay.
The only reason Pendruffle does not get five stars from us is that although there are steps and foot pathways towards Looe, you still have to take your life in your hands for 150yds down a busy lane with no footpath.
That is clearly out of the owners control, however, the hedging next to the front path should be trimmed back to allow more room to climb up the steps with baggage.
It should also be noted that the upper reaches of the shared drive way is now very bumpy which catches you out on the first drive up.

Nice cottage in peaceful location
I really enjoyed my stay at pendruffle , a nice cosy cottage on top of a hill on the outskirts of looe. If you want peace and quiet then this is ideal. However please be aware the location requires a short walk on the road and then a further walk up steps to the cottage. I am fairly fit so didn't find it a problem. I did it twice a day and found it a good work out. Just be extra vigilant when on the road! My only criticism would be the wi-fi which was very erratic and somewhat unreliable.

Beautiful secluded cottage with stunning views
We had a lovely week at Pendruffle Cottage. It is in a great position and is a terrific base to travel around Looe and the surrounding area- whatever the weather there is always something to do!. The cottage is beautifully and simply decorated and you feel at home almost as soon as you walk through the door. It is very comfortable and the fire is extremely efficient. Everything you need is here-just bring some ice and a few bottles and relax in the jacuzzi after a hard day's walking and pastie eating!.
The countryside here is simply spectacular and is just screaming out to be explored! Go and see Lansallos-it is a taxing walk back up to the car park but it is worth it as is Portwrinkle in the opposite direction.
Looe is only a 10-15 min walk so easy to get to local pubs/restaurants/shops etc (the seafood locally is really excellent)-just be careful at night -take a torch (there is one in the cottage anyway) as a short part of the walking route to town is directly on the road. Otherwise it is an easy walk.
We loved our stay so much we are strongly considering returning in September if the cottage is available! Rob and Shaz we are jealous!!

First class cottage, very well appointed with all the facilities we needed
Superb peaceful location, conveniently located for visiting most of the sites we had selected in Mid-Cornwall. The only thing we struggled with was a walk into town on our first morning. At 75 the number of steep steps , especially on the return trip, was too much.

CLEAN, COMFY AND HOMELY
The cottage is clean, well furnished and has fantastic views. It's nice to sit out on the lower or bedroom balcony for a nightcap after a good night out.
As others have said the drive up to the cottage is a first gear 'experience' but to be honest, after the first time I quite enjoyed it and looked forward to doing it again after a day out.
The parking bay is virtually right next to the property and only a handful of cars can park there for the other few cottages around.
Looe is a great place to stay with plenty of eateries and bars around and a great base for visiting local attractions.
I have to mention Caroline who looks after the property on behalf of the owner. We both spoke and texted during our stay and she is so helpful, nothing is too much trouble.
We will certainly book here again if come down this way.

Beautiful and unique!
Lovely little cottage perfect for a couple.. could have happily stayed here for longer than the 4 nights we had! It's true to its word about being a short walk to the town of looe.. the cottage has so much character.. I loved it! A lovely holiday and we can't wait to come back! Thank you so much!

Very comfortable and tranquil.
Perfect for two people looking for some peace and quiet. Slept really well in a large and comfortable bed. Cottage was well located for use as a base for coastal walks during the day and an easy walk into Looe town meant that lots of different restaurants were possible for evening meals.
Highly recommended.

lovely and peaceful stay
Would like to say thank you to the owners as we very much enjoyed out stay.
The cottage was spotlessly clean and had everything you need including bonus Jacuzzi bath and balcony from the bedroom with lovely views.
Only short walk into town however is up several steps and along the road for a bit but is worth it for the quiet locariom and is within a good distance so we could eat in looe and have a couple of drinks. There are several nice places to eat in looe even for vegetarians like myself.
Thanks again for our stay.

Great base for Looe & wonderful cottage
Pendruffle cottage is a great location for Looe and we found it a good location for seeing other sites in Cornwall also. The cottage itself is clean and well maintained, with everything you could need for your stay. We were called the day before our holiday to confirm arrival arrangements which went as planned the next day.
It is quite a steep narrow road to drive on to get to the designated parking space (but there's only holiday cottages up the road, and in a 10 day stay we thankfully didn't meet another cottage car going up or down!). Each cottage is private and it is so peaceful throughout the entire day, with lovely views from the bedroom and living room.
Walking into Looe town takes about 5-10 mins downhill; it's returning which is slightly harder with quite a few steps! But once back at Pendruffle with the views it is worth it. The town itself is perfect, we ate there 8 out of 10 nights in somewhere different each time. Friendly locals with great fresh food.
Overall a great place to stay in Looe, and we'd pick Pendruffle over a hotel anytime.

Wonderful stay in Looe
Well decorated, very clean, great layout. This property is in a great location in which to explore Looe and surrounding areas. The balconies are lovely places to sit and enjoy the beautiful view whilst having breakfast at the beginning of the day or a glass of wine at the end of it. The property manager and owner's were both lovely, with all questions asked of them answered straight away. Would definitely recommend this property if you're a couple visiting Cornwall.

Beautiful cottage with views to die for
This lovely cottage is the perfect getaway location for two. It is situated on the East side of Looe overlooking the river and is a 10 minute walk down to the centre of town - a bit longer on the way back! We loved the layout of the cottage on four levels - everything is comfortable and well thought-out and the owners went to great lengths to ensure we enjoyed our stay. It is also one of the few holiday cottages with off-road parking.
Looe is getting foodie, with a number of excellent restaurants (which you will need to book) and the super 'Catch' fish and chips run by the Tanner Brothers. This is a great location to explore Cornwall and we would thoroughly recommend it to couples looking for a base to stay.

Lovely house, well-equipped.
Stayed here in May 2016, and found the house to be really well-equipped and clean. Nice furnishings and decor too.
Met by Caroline at check-in, who was very helpful. The location is lovely, set high up overlooking the Looe River Valley - but if you intend to walk into Town, it's an uphill hike back with plenty of steps.
All in all, a lovely home in which to spend a break, with everything you will need for a comfortable stay.
