Everything about this property and the host was excellent. The location to Washington DC was unmatched by taking the metro into Downtown. The location to Gettysburg and Williamsburg was very convenient. The property itself was just as advertised. Alexandria is a great place to relax after the a long day. The property was historic and well appointed. Great restaurants nearby. The host was the best and easy to communicate with before the trip began. She was very helpful in every way. We have stayed at countless Vrbo's over the years and this was a top three experience for sure.

There really are not the right type of words to succinctly but adequately share how much our family enjoyed staying at Cheryl's gem of a house on Captain's Row. It was way better than the listing described. So many thoughtful touches, a perfect location, very comfortable beds and seating areas, and plenty of room to relax and enjoy our downtime before and after sightseeing. It was such a privilege to be steeped in a deeply historical house with furnishings and art to accentuate the experience. Cheryl was a gracious and attentive host. I've never finished a stay in a vacation rental thinking that I would plan my next trip to the same location around the rental's availability. I will definitely do so for Cheryl's place!

This was the perfect place for exploring old town, walking the river path, and just hanging out for Christmas away from home with our DC-based son. Wonderful old house quirks yet modern bathrooms. Would absolutely stay again!

We wanted to celebrate some of the holiday in historic Alexandria and experience the Scottish weekend. This property went beyond what we expected. Most rentals are never better than you’ll see in the listing; this property was all it showed and better. Felt like home, walking distance to park, shopping, and restaurants. Bed was super comfy and the bathroom had SO MUCH SPACE. Cannot compliment this host enough.

Wonderful getaway in this immaculate time capsule. The owner was delightful, the check-in seamless, right down to the convenient parking permit. The neighborhood was charming, and our only regret is not having enough time to nose around. We look forward to our next stay!

Great location. Walking to all restaurants and shops. Never moved the car in 3 days!
Cheryl was very easy to work with and gave good suggestions for local living and exploring!
Steps to upstairs bedroom are steep. Rope handrail is helpful. Modern kitchen and exceptional master bathroom! Nice game table as well.

I can't say enough good things about this place! Not only is it an historic property on "Captain's Row" in Old Town Alexandria (carefully restored and updated with all the modern conveniences), but Cheryl has decorated and furnished it with extremely good taste and sensitivity for the period. It must have cost a fortune. Right outside the front door on Price Street appears to be the favorite spot for anyone shooting a video or taking photographs. It's the center of the universe in Old Town! Don't miss it! I can't recommend it enough!

Where do i start, the house will carry you back in time while staying there. The location is special due to the fact you are one or two blocks from the Potomac, docks, best dining and trolley. We fell in love with Alexandria. We will definitely be going back.

Perfect location and ambiance and perhaps the most conveniently equipped property we’ve ever rented! From the power strips for charging to kitchen necessities, the owners’ thoughtfulness was displayed in every room! Five stars!

It would be hard to find a nicer area for visiting DC and all of the monuments and museums. The houses location makes walking to restaurants and stores very convenient (lots of food and ice cream to choose from).
The house is historic and although modernized, parking, crazy steep stairs, and the upper floor was hard to cool but definitely worth the stay. We would go back.

This house was the perfect mix of convenient, historical, and comfortable. Only 1-2 blocks from all the best restaurants and shopping. And Cheryl was a wonderful hostess - always a quick response by text if needed. The house was very clean, well kept, and felt more like home than a typical rental. We’ve already rebooked again for a holiday weekend! Would absolutely recommend this place if you’re visiting Old Town!

We had a wonderful experience staying at the Captain’s Row home. The home is beautiful, historic, clean, and in the most perfect location. I stayed here with my family, and got ready for my wedding at the home. Although not a huge home, it was spacious enough to have our hair and make up done for the event. The lighting on the second floor is also superb. The home is just as pictured in the listing. The host was also very communicative when we initially had trouble unlocking the door. I would definitely stay here again!

We stayed here as we visited family and celebrated my birthday. The location can't be beat - we were steps away from the waterfront and a really great coffee shop. Cheryl provided many details around parking and even recommended a nice bakery for us to get my birthday cake. There were some unavoidable issues such as the level of outside noise during the evening from passersby. Ultimately we were comfortable, and it was nice to have a Smart TV and even a pack n play available for when our cousins stopped in for a visit with their baby on my birthday.

Everything about the house was wonderful - very clean, nicely appointed, amazing location, and great communication. Beautiful home and we couldn't ask for a better location in Old Town. We walked to great cafes and restaurants, shopping, the waterfront, art studios, and historic locations! And such a short drive to DC. Thank you Cheryl! We hope to stay again (when it's a bit warmer! :)

The property has been thoughtfully updated and maintained. It preserves all the historical charm but with all the modern conveniences. Loved the walkable location. Close to the King Street amenities and cable car to the Metro. This was perfect for me, my husband and my teenage boys. Heat worked well. The climb to the bedrooms is steep. Mind the description in the listing on that one. If you're taking your school-age or high school aged kids to DC, book this property. You'll love it!

We loved this home! We had an amazing weekend with lots of walking around Old Town and eating at the great restaurants. This old home is unique with tons of character but also has the modern amenities you’d desire.
The host was friendly, helpful and receptive, sending emails about things to do and efficiently resolving a tripped fuse. We hope to stay again in the future!!
Thank you, Cheryl!

This property was so clean and tidy. We really enjoyed all the framed art, too. Cheryl was such a great host and answered any questions quickly. She also provided the staples that you need - coffee, spices, condiments etc. It was an excellent location with many great restaurants in easy walking distance. The parking was not a problem. We were able to park on the street. It was only one time we had to park a couple blocks away. The parking permit was a real godsend. The only things that may give people pause would be the steep steps up to the third floor and also if you visit during the summer months, you may be a little warm. There is a fan in the closet that helped somewhat. Overall, it was a great property and we really enjoyed our stay.

Don’t think….book it!!
What a wonderful property and location! This property was the perfect spot for our stay to see all the sites in D.C.! We were just around the corner from many shops and restaurants. Property was quiet and it felt like it was still a nice getaway even though it was still in the city. We used the free kings street trolley many times to the Kings street metro station. Then it was just a short easy ride into D.C. My two boys loved Ben and Jerry’s right around the corner and we visited more times than we probably should of lol.
We loved the decor of the house and it felt like we were submersed into history. The host was very quick to respond to any questions we had.
We would definitely stay here again!

Lovely Old Town Alexandria, VA
We so enjoyed our stay. It was a perfect location and felt like home the 1st day. I felt protective of it from the start. We were near everything we wanted to do. Walked out of the house, down a block and enjoyed Misha's, Aldos and Blackwells, took the ghost tour and rented bikes next door. We were able to walk everywhere and enjoyed dinner at Gabsy Tavern. We met and talked w/her friendly neighbor and at night watched all the people go by. The home is so cute and had everything we needed. Good work out on the stairs and nice patio with the alley/old horse walkway. Cheryl was also very nice, friendly and accommodating. We will definitely stay there if we ever get the change to make it back!!

Beautiful historic home and convenient location.
This is a very comfortable and beautiful historic home, in a great Old Town location. The kitchen was fully equipped for cooking, which we appreciated very much. Cheryl was very helpful in getting us a parking pass and parking was easy on the street that the house is on. This location was very convenient to the waterfront, where we boarded a tour boat to Mt. Vernon. Lots of restaurants are right around the corner. We would stay here again!
