About this house rental
A spacious craftsman-built home perched on a ridge at the edge of the park. You will enjoy beautiful mountain views out every window, while savoring your morning coffee or a glass of wine on the upper or lower decks. You won't even notice the lack of a TV. There is a full kitchen complete with a crock pot and coffee maker, and an outdoor grill for preparing meals with your family or friends. Spacious bedrooms and comfortable beds ensure you’ll get a good nights sleep before heading out on your Denali adventures. Providing an alternative to the crowding noise and traffic of Denali’s hotel strip, our house was designed with a focus on providing relaxing spaces for hanging out, socializing or solitude.
Our home has been featured in Travel & Leisure's "7 Stunning Homes Near National Parks You Can Book on VRBO."
There is room in the house for a maximum of 10 people. There is one downstairs bedroom and three bedrooms upstairs. For new parents, a pack & play is located in the upstairs closet. It costs $50 a night for each additional person over 6 guests. If you want to have more than 6 people, please keep in mind that there is only one shower (in downstairs bath). Upstairs, there is a half bath and a sink, a washer and a dryer. You may also book our small dry cabin across the driveway. The Denali Moonrise Cabin will sleep 2 guests and has an outhouse and outdoor shower.
No pets allowed, please.
If you plan to arrive by train to Denali, you will need a rental car to get around the local area and to our house. "Keys to Denali" and "Alaska Auto Rental" located locally in Healy offers rental vehicles (including 12-passenger vans) and railroad depot pick-up and drop-offs. Be sure to book in advance.
For a fly over of the house, go to Denali Sunset House on youtube.
You will have access to the entire house, except the garage. This includes upstairs and downstairs decks, the yard surrounding the house, and of course you can step into endless wilderness just by walking down our driveway.
The home is located a mile off the Parks Highway, just a 10 mile drive to the Denali Park Visitor Center and the train depot, and the main hotel/restaurant and shopping zone. A few restaurants, and a nice locally owned cafe and art gallery are located within two miles, as is the trailhead for the popular Triple Lakes hike (no fishing license required inside the park).
We live close by. You can reach us by text or phone. Terry is around in the mornings, and Becky is usually around in the afternoon and evenings, so one of us is usually available to answer questions or offer advice on the local area.
We would suggest that you buy your groceries in Fairbanks or Anchorage. Although, there is a small supermarket 20 miles north in Healy. There are convenience stores around here, but they are limited and more expensive. We provide all linens, dish soap, trash bags, paper towels and toilet paper. A coffee maker is provided. The 1.5 mile road from the highway to our house is a maintained gravel road. It should not pose any problem for any vehicle.
Enjoy the books and board games - there is no TV, but have high speed Starlink internet!
Minimum stay two nights, please. At times, we will get that odd night that is available between two bookings. We will consider waiving the two night minimum stay in unique cases like this.

Our family enjoyed our time at the Denali Sunset House! The home is so charming, and we enjoyed reading about how it was built. The home was very clean and was equipped with everything we needed for our stay. The neighborhood is very nice and quiet, and we enjoyed spending time on the deck. Our host, Becky, was helpful in answering questions and provided a lot of great tips on local restaurants.

What a beautiful, quiet, peaceful, clean, wonderful location and property! The views were fantastic. The home is what we expected - very nice with a touch of rustic blended in. Becky and Terry communicated very well, and even had homemade cookies on the table. The power went out for a bit the first night, and Terry was there in the morning to make sure all was well. It was nice to meet him in person! Thank you for sharing your home with us.

We wanted a stay in the Denali area that would be comfortable but unique. The Denali Sunset House exceeded our expectations. We loved the views and the experience of sitting on the decks early in the morning or late at night. The house worked well for our party of 8: 6 adults and 2 kids. The kitchen was well equipped and we cooked breakfasts and prepared lunches for our excursions into the park. The hosts had equipped the house with many thoughtful amenities that aligned with the environment, like binoculars and mosquito head nets. Thank you Terri and Becky for a terrific and memorable visit!

This was a nice get away place with a 10 minute drive to Denali National Park. Enjoyed having a well equipped kitchen and plenty of room for everyone. Didn’t miss the tv and enjoyed looking out at the view from the balcony. Easy checkin and check out. Becky and Terry were gracious hosts. They provided us with places to go and good information about the area. Also was cool learning the history of the house. We had a friendly neighbor moose that showed up outside the house at night. Enjoyed the stay and would stay there again.

We spent 5 nights in this remote and beautiful location just miles from the Denali Park Road and even less than that from a trailhead that leads right into the park. We hiked a ton, went to the East Fork via bus, and came back to this cozy home to recuperate and hang out together. The surrounding views are stunning and rival the different views inside the park. We had a female moose pay a visit while we were having dinner. She just strolled right by the windows and the deck and headed down the hill. If you stay here and start hearing the neighborhood dogs going crazy, pay attention. You may get a wildlife visitor. We truly enjoyed our stay and hated leaving. And we so appreciate the welcome gifts abs hospitality shown by Becky and Terry. It's an awesome place. Be sure to put Denali and this property on your bucket list.

Very clean, easy check in and out. Plenty of room for our party of 8. House has an unusual layout but it works. Owners are very nice and left us delicious cookies upon arrival!

Communication was responsive and helpful all around. This made our Denali stay very comfortable and helped us avoid the large hotel/cruise ship crowds. Some access road delay due to State of Alaska road construction that made the location a little less convenient but not enough to dampen our stay.

Beautiful home in a great location to experience Denali. We loved the unique layout of the house and the mountain views. Everything was clean and well stocked and organized. Wish we could have spent more days here!

The house was very nice and met all of our needs. (We were a party of two adult couples.) Becky and Terry were very responsive to every question that we had in advance of the stay, and the house contained everything that we needed. One nice touch was that they left us a complimentary tray of homemade cookies, a jar of chocolates, and a nice bottle of wine. I don't know whether they do this for all of their guests, but we certainly weren't expecting that. The house has a west-facing outside deck on the second floor, and we loved sitting out there to enjoy the late Alaska sunsets. (We were blessed with beautiful sunsets on both nights of our stay.) The property is about 7 miles from the entrance to Denali National Park and is also close to several good restaurants.

Cabin in the woods
DenLi Sunset house was a comfortable and welcoming cabin in the woods near Denali. The wildlife didn’t cooperate for us, but Becky and Terry’s home had everything we needed to enjoy a long weekend of hiking and exploring Denali NP.
