Cosy little straw bale cottage with a cracking wood fire. Keeps lovely and warm in winter. The farm animals (ducks, donkeys, alpaca's, etc) were great to interact with and the farm has lots of space for walks. Great location with quick access to Witchcliffe and Margaret River.
Lovely stay overall. And fabulous it was dog friendly.

Our stay at the chalet was amazing. Being greeted every morning by some very cute and friendly ducks was a very nice start to the day. The chalet had everything we needed and was clean and cosy. The farm animals were friendly, the property was lovely, and the fact that we could bring our Labrador was fantastic. We will definitely be back!

Had a lovely stay at Birchfield - loved the strawbale house and the location was lovely. Surrounded by ducks, guinea pigs, donkeys, llamas (or were they alpacas?) my dog wasn't sure what to make of all the animals lol. the host was great and made sure everthing was on point.

The cottage was ready for us and we let ourselves in. Our host popped in for a chat when we had settled.
The kids loved feeding the animals every morning, donkeys, alpacas, ducks, baby ducks, a pig & peacocks, all very friendly. And there’s a great little route around the property for a walk. So peaceful, it was great to getaway from the rat race. Less than 10mins from Margaret river.
We will definitely be back!

This was exactly what we were looking for - a country break, with a more traditional look at MR region away from the hype of the town centre (only ten minutes away). Straw bale construction is amazing to experience; insulated from the cold, (or heat) we were cosy, with plentiful hot water, comfy beds, surrounded by trees animals and pasture. A bonus - animals to pet, and our dog was welcome. Space to roam- great for families.

Farmstay in the perfect position
We really enjoyed our stay at the chalet. It is in the perfect position to visit the area without being in the crowded Margaret River. The animals are super friendly so don't forget the carrots and be prepared to a "ducks' invasion" every time you step outside.

Tranquil retreat
Awesome farmstay property. Quirky and rustic unique haybale eco chalet. Beautiful friendly animals always ready for a carrot or 2. Andy was down to earth and helpful. If you’re looking for a modern polished property don’t come. If you’re looking for some country charm and a cosy original space with all that comes with rural living you’ll love it. We did. Will return. Thanks Andy. Loved your place.

More like Junkyard stay than farmyard stay.
The property inside was not clean enough for holiday rental standards. The farm yard was more like a junkyard that a farmyard and mos items were broken and falling apart. If I had children I would not have let them run around the yard as it was not safe. I just got the impression the owner was just into making a buck or 2 with the couple of chalets on the property without putting in any effort to make it presentable.

Relaxed accomodation
This is a nice little hay bale cottage on a rambling farm. It was great for our little girl to have a different experience in the margaret river region. Rather than expensive crowded motels this was much more down to earth with donkeys, Guinea pigs, peacocks, pigs and alpacas. Its quiet, relaxing and pretty private. You are on Andy's property, but he is welcoming and makes you feel comfortable. Our 5 year old loved it. I struggle with asthma so the dust in older furniture was a bit of a problem (an asthma puffer fixed that) but other than this we found all we needed for a comfortable stay, even satelight tv and wifi. This is a great place for families.

Comfy and eclectic
A reasonably comfortable little straw bale house surrounded by animals in a farm setting. Cleanliness of the property wasn't quite up to scratch but an overall pleasant stay.

Excellent farm stay accommodation and location close to the amazing Margaret River Region!
This fantastic farm stay was so much fun for the kids. Bring some bags of carrots for the donkeys and pigs and oats for all the beautiful birds and the kids will be entertained for hours. This site is also very close to the amazing caves, beaches and cultural attractions in the region! Highly recommend this farm stay.

Amazing!
Such a beautiful little cottage it made us feel like we were on a farm in France! Andy and Justine are lovely hosts, the chalet is very cosy/comfortable and has everything you need for a week/weekend away. Our 2 year old loved the animals, which were all very friendly and its close to both Margaret River town, the beach, mammoth cave and wineries. We'll definitely be back soon!

Wonderfully relaxing stay with friendly hosts, furry and not!
We had a lovely stay at Birchfield and was treated to owner Andy's hospitality and friendliness. The chalet is homely, well equipped and most importantly was within reach of the property's gorgeous furry inhabitants. Highly recommended, we'll be back with our pup next time. Thanks Andy!

Amazing! Will never again book anywhere else! The farm animals, the privacy, the serenity is amazing
Amazing! Will never again book anywhere else again! The farm animals, the privacy, the serenity. This is unbeatable! Thanks Andy! You are the best host ever. Never invading our privacy but always ready to meet every need we may have in spite of the fact that we had everything we would ever need already there! There is just no place to stay better than this! The animals is amazing. Loved the donkeys, alpaccas, chickens, ducks, peacocks, pigs, guineapigs and being able to feed all of them in a petting zoo environment. Thanks so much. amazing experience. Added at least 2 years to our lives. Serenity, peace, tranquility all in one for so much more than reasonable price....
