About this house rental
WE ARE TAKING EXTRA PRECAUTIONS DISINFECTING OUR HOUSE IN LIGHT OF THE COVID-19 VIRUS.
Lake Austin waterfront is a great place to escape all year around. Lake Austin Retreat offers a beautiful Mexican style waterfront property with a boat dock, huge decks and a hot tub situated on a secluded bend of Lake Austin just 20 miles from downtown Austin. Relax, unwind, enjoy the stand up paddle boards, swim, canoe, kayak, bird-watch, fish, or enjoy a spa-treatment at nearby Lake Austin Spa.
The house accommodates 6 guests (if your group is larger than 6, please consider renting a neighbor's property which sleep's 6, in addition to ours - Homeaway Property # 7064882 or VRBO#3580000), and the spacious back yard offers an abundance of outdoor space for socializing, BBQ'n, playing or enjoying quiet hammock-time. Bring your boat and ski (boats can be moored at the dock but no boat lift is available), or lounge by the water's edge and drink in the view of the Golden Cheeked-Warbler habitat directly across the lake. You will love taking advantage of the most peaceful stretch of Lake Austin. Mornings are not to be missed. Grab your coffee or tea and watch the morning fog pull back revealing a glass-like surface that mirrors the rolling hills above. Just 35 Miles from the new F-1 Track in Austin, 20 miles from SXSW and ACL Festival.
The Activities: By Day - Canoeing, kayaking (life jackets and paddles provided), hiking, swimming, fishing, golfing, skiing and wakeboarding, bring your boat and moor it at the dock. You can canoe, kayak or walk 1/4 mile to the Lake Austin Spa for world-class spa services.
By Night - Dining, grilling, star-gazing or hitting the downtown or lakeside Austin nightlife.
Out of respect for our neighbors, we ask that only three cars be parked at our home and that our guests not use the HOA Boat Ramp and Park next door. The public boat ramp at Mary Quinlan Park is only 1/4 mile away and is much safer. There is also additional parking there for guests temporarily visiting during your stay.
In keeping with the local ordinances, we have a strict policy that forbids parties at our home.

I’m compelled to be brutally honest… start with the positives: the location was fantastic. The weather was great and the lake was super clean. Now onto the negatives… the hot tub was cold, the deck was sketchy, the ladder on the dock was broken and the steps into the water were super slippery with moss. The mattresses were blown out. And the super fun part was the whole house leaned so that was a bit weird. The house needs a deep cleaning. The shower drain was clogged and the A/C is on its last leg. The paddle boards were in rough shape. Also I see that I got a message about the hammock being torn and a new one was shipped. What was I supposed to install the new one that showed up in the middle of stay? Also a new paddle was shipped too? the boat dock was super sketchy moves quite a bit when waves hit it held up truck strap!!! This place needs a considerable amount of work. I feel I was taken advantage of a bit and the owner is milking this property. Very disappointed. Do yourself a favor a skip this listing. As a long time VRBO user with high rating this was one of the most out of service homes I have ever stayed in. There must be a higher standard considered especially in Lake Austin. Shame on the owner for not keeping everything in service. No way this is close to a 5 star listing. Work must be done. I will be requesting a partial refund. I was embarrassed as I was in charge of this vacation. My friends were nice about it but were not stoked as well. cheers!

This was our second stay at this lovely place, and once again, everything was fantastic. We absolutely love the backyard and the easy lake access—perfect for cooling down in the Texas summer. Have you ever considered renting out the backyard and lake access separately, similar to a 'Swimply for lakes' option. We definitely plan to be back!

Great house! The owner was fantastic to work with. We’ll be back for sure.

This was our second stay at Waterfront on beautiful Lake Austin. The fabulous water access is one thing that brought us back for our family who loves to be on the water. Kayaking, canoeing, and paddleboarding were some highlights of our stay, with all the equipment conveniently provided by the facility. The home itself projects that unique cool Austin style decor, creating a vibe that was both relaxing and chic. The kitchen became the heart of our family gatherings, with the gas oven stove being a particular delight for cooking up family meals that were shared around the quaint dining table. The spacious bathroom with its huge shower felt like a luxury spa, and the easy-to-access washing and drying machines added to the convenience of our stay. After days full of adventure, we retreated to the comfortable sleeping quarters. But nothing tops the amazing views of the lake and Texas hill country where we watched the relaxing sunsets and enjoyed stargazing. We’re already looking forward to our next stay at this little slice of heaven on Lake Austin. It’s a place where memories are made and, the worries of the world seem to just drift away on the gentle waves of the lake.

We booked for a somewhat last minute 4 day, 3 night stay. The house was quaint and as pictured, but the dock was a bit more dilapidated than the photos make it look. Thankfully the covering laid down over the wood made it possible to walk around the top and we covered some of the older chairs with towels.
Overall a good stay

This property is the perfect little slice of water front! The house is clean and the AC works great! The hot tub was so nice and the kitchen was great! We would definitely stay here again!

Loved our stay! Perfect location. Maybe some anti slip strips of some sort on the deck and dock staircase would help. A guest and I both slipped and took a tumble on the dock.

Stayed here with wife and 4 boys (ages 5-12), and our dog. Check in and directions were all great. Property location is pretty much unbeatable
Mix of calm and serene in the early and late hours, and as close to the water as you could possibly want. Great water toys, fantastic weekend had by all. Would definitely come again.

Everything was perfect! Amazing spot on the water, we canoed, paddle boarded, ate all meals on the deck over the water, enjoyed hot tub at night. Clean and comfortable

What a beautiful accommodation! Our family took over four different rental/VRBO's in the neighborhood for this occasion. We had children, nieces-nephews, and grandchildren flying in from West through East Coasts. This was a surprise party for my wife and the surprise was PERFECT! Obviously, we had a variety of properties to choose from to have dinner and lunch, but our daughter took one look at the terrific dining table, beautiful lawn, the wonderful boat dock, and numbers of indoor and outdoor tables to dine at and commanded, "This is THE place." The caretaker for the many properties was wonderful and supportive. We were not a rowdy group and treated the property as if it was our own. The kitchen is wonderful and the JILLION cd collection was a massive hit for everyone. My son, granddaughter, grandson, and son-in-law took off on the furnished kayaks and paddle boards and we wondered if they were every going to come back home! The furnished yard games were a super hit with the youngsters and oldsters. Thank you David for a spectacular reunion, birthday celebration, and family gathering. Highly recommended it for anyone wanting to enjoy a beautiful river setting.

We had a wonderful stay at this property. The host was very friendly and communicative. The view of the river was amazing. The kitchen was great to cook in. And the location was peaceful but close enough to drive to Austin for activities for the kids. Overall we really enjoyed our time there.

Perfect lake house for those looking to unplug and enjoy the peaceful outdoors. We stayed here with our 2 boys and enjoyed fishing, paddle boarding and kayaking on the Colorado River. We spent many hours sitting on the dock enjoying the sounds of nature and the quiet. It is the most well stocked vrbo we have ever stayed in. From cooking spices to coffee to toilet paper and towels. This home had everything we needed. There was a grocery store 10 min down the road for any additional needs. The hot tub in the evenings was an added bonus. The VRBO owner was very responsive to any questions we had. We would recommend and stay here again.

Great house, beautiful location by the water. Great property for outdoor activities and the owner provides some great yard games and the yard to support them. Plus canoes, kayaks and paddle boards to take advantage the lake access.

This place was ideal for a girls trip to just relax on the lawn and float in the water, and laugh and play CDs on the stereo provided. Private spot too.

Perfect location for a relaxing vacation with our daughter and SIL. Close enough to city for a night out but honestly spent majority of our time on the beautiful lake. House is clean and very well equipped and property was perfect. The upper deck provided us a great spot to spend the warm days. Will definitely look to return next year.

We so enjoyed our time here. Such a beautiful peaceful spot on Lake Austin. The house was cozy and everything we needed for a great weekend stay! hope to be back next summer!

This was the perfect lake house for our water activity loving family. The boat slip was super accessible for sunrise and sunset ski runs. Paddle boarding and other water toys provided by the rental entertained our group all day. The kitchen was awesome for home cooked meals while we enjoyed listening to the WIDE selection of CD’s provided. Plenty of sleep options. Bathroom was very “Austin” and clean…and washer and dryer were clutch. The mountain view in the evenings from the lakeside deck was breathtaking. Looking at the calendar to book our next trip now!

This VRBO is right on the water and that is very nice. That is the only positive thing I can say. We were very disappointed with the unsanitary conditions. Upon arrival, immediately we could tell the place had not been properly cleaned. Or maybe that was just the usual standard of "clean". Nothing was fresh or clean smelling. The kitchen drawers and cabinets were crusted with food, with it running down the front of cabinets. The sheets were dirty and had hairs and crumbs. The pillows under the pillow covers had brown stains and made us feel sick to lay on. The couch itself smelled and had lots of debris and stains. We didn't feel comfortable even sitting on it. The ac vents are moldy and huge clods of hair stuck to the larger intake vent by the floor. The bathroom shower and toilet area smelled of urine and smoke. The floor was sticky so we always wore shoes. The sliding back door closes and the wooden dowel came down and got stuck, locking us out twice. But the worst part and the deal breaker for us was the pest problem. There were roaches of all sizes, inside and out. One ran over my son's foot while he was using the restroom. A man and woman couple entered the property several times to access their boat, leaving the gate open allowing our dog to escape. Myself and daughter got sick afterwards and I developed bronchitis. I spoke with the owner who argued with me then reluctantly refunded the cleaning fee. This place would take a month to get clean. Stay somewhere else!

We have stayed here twice now and both times had a great time. Lots to do on the water including paddle boarding, kayaking, and canoeing. Beautiful views of Lake Austin and family friendly accommodations.

This property is the quintessential lake house. Quaint, quiet, clean, and located on one of the most beautiful spots on Lake Austin. We had access to kayaks, paddleboards and canoes, and had a wonderful afternoon floating on the lilypad! The hottub was a great way to relax after a day of lake activities. David was an incredibly responsive host, and our every need was anticipated. We are grateful to have found this property. We will definitely be back. Thank you to the host family for sharing your beautiful property with us.

The deck on the lake is better than the pictures. The house was nice and had everything we needed for our stay, and David was very responsive and helpful when I had questions before we arrived. Would stay here again for sure. Thank you David!

So relaxing to sit out on the deck, watching the birds and boats. Great lake house - David the host thought of everything you might need. We’d love to come back someday.

We found the interior of the house to be very clean. The double shower was really nice. We enjoyed the outdoor space and my daughter and her friend used the kayaks. The information binder was helpful and much appreciated. We had one or two minor issues and the owner/manager was very responsive. We would definitely stay again.

Great place to chill this time of year. We didn’t play in the water but the access was at the property. We enjoyed watching boaters, skiing and paddle boarders.

So, when we travel we look for houses on water. We love water and views! This house had it all! We could open the blinds in the morning and see the water and the 'mountains/hills', it was awesome! The house had the game bags, life jackets of many sizes, paddles, 2 canoes, 2 kayaks and 2 paddleboards, a wood fireplace (which we used nightly) and CD'S! We did canoe as a family and that was a lot of fun. We were there the end of December, so we did not swim, but my husband fished and caught a couple! This would be an awesome summer place to relax in the water and just float! It is about 13 minutes away from anything, but it's a quick, beautiful drive. We saw a ton of deer the week we were there. I'd recommend this place, I did send the owner a couple of suggestions, but would also suggest adding beach towels so that you have something separate than the bath towels. Thanks for a great week!

The house, setting/view and location was perfect for a family of all adult kids to get to and enjoy. We had rain the first two days which did not hold us back. Instead, it created a different vibe that was very cozy. We still used the kayaks and paddleboards and felt like we had the place to ourselves. Overall a great trip.

Honestly for the cost and fees it wasn’t worth it. Hot tub was filthy and we could not use it. For the price we could have stayed at a very nice hotel with incredible views of Austin.

Our family had a great time at this property on the lake. It was our 2nd visit. The dock deck is the perfect spot to hang out and enjoy the view. We played yard games, then cooled off in the lake. Our Golden Retriever was in dog heaven! We all loved the unique shower too.
