Lovely Welcome and Very Comfortable

Sally and John were very welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. Room had a lovely super-king bed and the view across the garden to the mountains was beautiful. Breakfast was delicious. Great location for walking into Hay itself and accessing all the lovely walks in the surrounding countryside. Would definitely recommend.

Very comfortable friendly place to stay with gorgeous views and near shops,cafes & walks.

Breakfast was tasty, & freshly prepared also accommodated my gluten free non dairy diet which was great.

Perfect location and wonderful breakfasts.

A very welcoming place. The room was very clean and quiet. The location is perfect for walking to all the book shops. And the breakfasts were phenomenally wonderful with all local ingredients. A++++++!!

A USEFUL BASE FOR LOCAL VISITS CONTRIBUTING TO AN ENJOYABLE AND SUCCESSFUL STAY.

The breakfast choice and hospitality was excellent, served in quiet, pleasant surroundings. My wife and I were invited to make our choices the night before and leave them in the entrance hall. Our room was very comfortable and enabled us to dress for a function locally. The parking outside the property was secure. My wife and I enjoyed evening meals at the nearby Swan Hotel and shopping for necessaries was close at hand. We should like to return to 'The Firs' again.

My wife and I could not rely upon the quality of the Wi-Fi Service in the room.

Great hospitality, a home from home!

Lovely welcome and offer of tea and cake when we arrived. Comfortable and clean accommodation, just a stone's throw from the centre of the town.

It was a great stay and I'm happy I found the Firs and Hay-on-Wye!!

The Firs B&B in Hay is fantastic. It is centrally located and quiet. Sally and John are great and friendly people. I loved being welcomed and escorted to the door by Jasper the dog. Sally's cooking is outstanding - every breakfast and her homemade jam - were delicious. They also give great advice on walks, restaurants, and things to do. The bookstores are wonderful. It was a great stay and I was sad to leave.

Excellent host, great location, clean and comfortable room.

Owner Sally was superb. Friendly and helpful. Accommodation centrally located with car parking. Room was clean and comfortable. Little fridge provided and provided water and milk in room. Breakfast was fabulous!

Wonderful host, clean room, delicious breakfast

The location was very central to the village centre. The single room was exceptionally clean (I have travelled with antibacterial wipes long before COVID and am very conscious of dust and dirt). Sally was an exceptional hostess and the breakfast was delicious. Who could ask for more when homemade jam appears on your plate completely unprompted!

It was my first stay in a Bed & Breakfast so I have nothing to compare it to. This will be my benchmark going forward!

A relaxing , comfortable stay in a homely b @ b

Perfect location and car parking availability . Sally was a delightful host who welcomed us warmly after a long drive with a cup of tea and shortbread . She was happy to sit and chat - to tell us about places to visit in the area , suggested suitable places for dinner on our 2 nights stay and also assisted us in booking accommodation for the 3 rd night that we planned to be in Wales . Breakfast was delicious and served in a lovely sunny dining area.

Great stay in hay, much needed getaway and will be returning

Good location with own parking, fantastic breakfast with a choice from cereals to full Welsh with local produce, room was very clean with tea coffee making facilities and comfy bed, tea and cake on arrival made by the lovely owner Sally, highly recommend this b&b and would definitely stay again on my next visit

We very much enjoyed our weekend break. The perfect place to relax and recharge.

Very comfortable room, quiet location but central to Hay, so easy to walk everywhere. Sally was very friendly and welcoming. There’s a quiet conservatory to take a cup of tea in and recharge. Breakfast was delicious with good veggie options as well.

Nice relaxing visit.

Everything perfect, warm welcome from Sally, room was good. Ideal location for travelling around or just go on foot around the town. Plenty of places to eat and drink, great selection of book shops. Lovely breakfast which set us up for the day! We arrived as strangers and left as friends. Highly Recommended!

A perfect getaway in a fantastic location

Absolutely adored it. Peaceful and inviting with exceptional hosts. Sally could not do any more. Room was lovely, quiet and perfectly located. Breakfast was very tasty and cooked well.

A wonderful 10/10 stay that we would recommend to anyone

Sally was a fantastic host. We absolutely loved our stay here and it exceeded our expectations. The B&B is tucked away just off the main road, so you are well located but in a very quiet part. Having parking onsite was also a major plus. The room itself was perfect, as it felt super modern and newly renovated but also cozy and charming. It was spotless. Finally, the breakfast both days was absolutely incredible. We told Sally she could start a restaurant. Everything was so high quality and delicious! We recommend this place to anyone as a home base for exploring Hay.

The only thing we struggled with was the pressure/temperature of the shower, which took a moment to get right. But this wouldn’t stop us from rating highly or recommending, and you also don’t go to Hay for the shower!

The location and parking were great if you're looking for a central place to stay in Hay on Wye. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfasts were delicious. Thanks to Sally for the warm welcome and Jasper the dog too!
