Our host went above and beyond to provide us with everything needed to make our vacation exceptional. Lobsters delivered to the door were a highlight!!! The busy wharf provided an insight into the fishing industry today. Our host was exceedingly helpful in suggesting areas of interest, local dining and sightseeing options.

Quiet and secluded but close enough to a lot of local attractions - highly recommend this place.

We've stayed at a lot of places in Maine - don't hesitate because of the working dock on the property - the views are amazing and it was fun to watch! Great hosts!

We normally never go back to a place for vacation as we want to explore other places. However, this is the perfect place to enjoy a view of a bay and the ocean, watch the comings and goings of the lobster-men, enjoying lobster every day, quiet as the pier is empty during the day, full sunrise and sunsets, clean and modern house, and great host just a phone call away. We will be returning for another get-a-way.

Gail is a great host. As a lifelong resident of area she was very helpful providing information about the area. The host is as described and better. Everything you need for a comfortable stay. Actually it is the best stocked vacation home we have ever rented. Great view of the harbor with beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Don’t miss the Keag store, great little place.

We cannot say enough! This beautiful home, the location, and the surrounding area was everything we hoped it would be. Regardless of the (fabulous) working lobster wharf (my husband sat on the deck all morning to view these men)...you would never think that it would be so quiet and peaceful. We never heard the lobster men coming in to work. Go figure!
Thank you Gail and Mark for sharing your home. And, Gail, for your help with the TV and streaming services! We wouldn't have been able to watch our NFL football without your knowledge! You went way above, of above and beyond!
Best vacation ever!

The Quarry House on Wheeler Bay was Wonderful!
We loved everything about our stay at the Quarry House on Wheeler Bay.
The location just can’t be beat. Hands down the best view we’ve ever had!
Gail and Mark were great hosts, anticipating our every need and responding to any questions we had so quickly. The house and kitchen were clean, spacious and well equipped, and we enjoyed cooking most of our meals “at home.” Gail even gave us perfect instructions for our first lobster cooking experience, and we enjoyed the delicious Miller Lobster on several occasions.
We loved exploring the area around Spruce Head and beyond, but our favorite activity was relaxing on the deck enjoying sunrises, sunsets the comings & goings of the lobster fishermen and their boats, and the peaceful stillness in between.
Thank you, Gail and Mark, for a truly unique & beautiful Maine experience. We’ll be back!

The Greatest
The house is perfect. Perfect location on the water watching the tide change and the lobstermen work. The kitchen is so well stocked that there was nothing I desired that wasn't there. It is also big and has a lovely wood floor, as does the entire house. Both beds were super comfortable (and I am picky). Everything was clean. The hostess was very helpful - quick to answer her phone/messages. I almost don't want to tell how nice it is because there probably won't be a vacancy when I want it!

Wonderful home base
The view of the Maine coast from the house is simply beautiful, and the working lobster wharf was an added bonus. I loved the location and really enjoyed visiting mid-coast Maine again. Gail was always responsive to any questions and very easy to work with. The place was very clean and had all the necessities. I recommend this rental house.

Wharf is always relaxing.
We have stayed at this property multiple times. We love the activity and scenery of the little wharf and enjoy watching the tide from the deck. The location is secluded, but close enough to many towns and activities. We had a wonderful stay, as always!! Thanks, Gail!!

Maine beauty
Wonderful place to stay! Beautiful scenery, clean and well stocked accommodations, Gail and Mark were wonderful hosts. Away from the hustle and bustle of a city but within a few hours driving to many major places to visit. Quiet and serene! Absolutely no complaints except we wish we could have stayed longer!

Lobster Lovers
The cottage was spotless! We have never stayed in a cleaner vacation rental. The cottage was well-stocked with cooking pots and dishes, and there were paper products to get us through our first day until we had time to go shopping. Our hostess, Gail Miller, communicated by text and made social distancing easy. This site, on a hill above a lobster wharf, gave us a fascinating view of working lobster boats. Fortunately, there was no smell from the wharf. Gail brought us lobsters to cook upon request. Very quiet location, and we slept with the windows open at night. Great vacation.

Would return in a heartbeat
Easy place to stay, pictures of house are accurate, view is great, the deck is like having a big screen TV in front of you all day with watching the activity on the wharf. Owners are friendly and available. Don't waste your time/money with the chowders in Boothbay Harbor, New Harbor or Rockport.... Gail's beats them out by miles. Hope to return.

Beautiful and lively spot to get away
Gail was a wonderful host who is very welcoming as is her spotless cottage. I was determined to eat lobster all four days that we spent in Maine, and staying at a lobster pound was perfect! Not to mention the steamers and crab at Miller’s Lobster! I highly recommend it!

Our Honeymoon Destination
When We saw the listing for this VRBO we were extremely excited but had no idea just how amazing the home, views and experience would truly be. Waking up each morning to the smell of the sea and sunrise was an experience like no other. We enjoyed every last moment here. The amenities exceeded our expectations as well. You truly do have everything you need here. Gail and Mark are great hosts and we thoroughly enjoyed talking with them and dinner on the deck prepared by Miller’s Lobster Company Restaurant right out our front door. Learning about commercial lobster fishing was very interesting and even more, to watch them go out in the morning and come back. There is no shortage of activities and sightseeing, most of which was a short drive away. We look forward to returning with our kids the next time, hopefully as early as next year.

Awesome views, fantastic location, great hosts!
Pictures do not do the views this home has of the water justice. Looking out the living room and the kitchen the working fishing harbor is ahead with a rocky cove to the left which was perfect for watching sea birds during low tide. The host could not have been nicer or more responsive. The beds sure super comfortable. The location is ideally suited about equally distant for trips to the quaint little village of Port Clyde as well as trips to Rockland with restaurants, art galleries, and on. We highly recommend!

Fantastic Vacation Cottage
This has been our second stay at the Miller's. The home is bright modern and clean. I can't say enough about our Hostess Gail. She went far and beyond to make our stay comfortable. There was a storm that knocked out the electricity and Gail made sure we had ice, and an ice chest, candles and flashlights. The electricity was restored before our arrival. Gail communicated with us prior to our arrival with details about the storm, etc. After our arrival she contacted us to make sure all was okay with us, which we really appreciated. I can't say enough good things about our incredible experience at the cottage on the sea. Thank you Gail for everything.

Slice of paradise
The pictures do not do this house justice. It's so much better. Gail and Mark are wonderful people. The view is fantastic. We have stayed in about 20 different rental houses. The Millers house is one of the best stocked houses we have rented. All kinds of pots and pans, cleaning supplies, and even quite a few spices. This house is not the Ritz, but it is clean, and very well maintained. If we wanted Lobster all we had to do was call or text Gail and she would drop them by, or let us know when Mark would be coming back and we would walk down to the dock and get them right off his boat. We had lobster every night except one during our stay. There is a big lobster pot at the house for cooking them up. We loved talking to the Millers and learning all about the industry and what went in to getting lobsters to the market. I now know that lobster men have to be the hardest working people in the world. Mark would get up at 3:30AM, leave to get bait. Be to the boat by 5:00 and heading out by 6:00
AM. He would not come back till late afternoon to unload his catch, and clean the boat. If the restaurant on the pier was open he would go there next to help cook, and would be cleaning floors till 9:00PM. Next morning the same thing. Gail made a big thing of the noise in the early morning with all the lobstermen working, but quite honestly I never heard them and most times I was up having coffee and watching all the activity. There is lots of small towns near by and they each have something to see. Just remember there are no straight roads in Maine. We used WAZE to get around. If the distance was 30 miles to where you wanted to go it would take almost an hour to get there. Just double the miles and you will be pretty close in minutes. ALL the locals drive no more than 5 MPH over the speed limit. They do not pass, and they always follow at least 5 car lengths behind.
I found that very refreshing. Boothbay Harbour was my favorite. The Miller's house is fantastic if you just want to relax, take in the beautiful views, and do some sight seeing. Thank you Gail and Mark for a wonderful trip, and for sharing your home with us.

A bit of "Almost Heaven" in Maine!
What a beautiful place to stay on the coat of Maine! Right on Wheeler's Bay at a working lobster pound where we enjoyed the tides coming & going and the lobstermen at their boats each day from our deck. The home was neat, clean, and had every amenity necessary for a week's stay. Storage abounded in the bedrooms and bath, and the beds were so comfy. Although we never met our hosts Gail & Mark, a couple phone calls and texts were all we needed for minor questions. There was coffee ready to brew the first morning until we could get to the nearby Wal-mart for groceries. It was unfortunate that we chose this time of year as their lobster shack on their dock was closed for the season, but we managed to drive around and find our lobster rolls and dinners nearby. All in all, a great relaxing visit to our favorite state, second only to our "Almost Heaven" West Virginia!

Miller Magic
Most relaxing and enjoyable vacation. Very nice house with an incredible view. Perfect peaceful location. The Miller's were terrific. Answered any questions we had and were very helpful. The weather was perfect this week. We spent time out on the deck watching the working wharf and wildlife. Beautiful sunrises and incredible show of stars at night. Exactly what we were looking for.

The Quary house is wonderful!!! We had never been to Maine and had a wonderful time! The house is clean, comfortable and has everything one needs to be cozy and even have some friends over to watch football. The view is so awesome we looked forward to just staying "home" one day. It is a working fishing pier and watching the boats come and go was fascinating. Its beautiful! Gail was great and very accommodating!
Go to "the Happy Clam" in Tennants Harbor for awesome German food and lobster!

Learn about lobstering
Everything we needed to prepare and cook the food we
brought was available.
Gail was very friendly and helpful.
Plenty of space in all the rooms, could have used another chair in living room.
And the best part-- the view and deck. Hope to go back!!

Great Maine Home
We had a great stay at the Quarry house! Very clean and comfortable. The living areas were larger than we expected. Everything we needed and more. We loved having a dishwasher and washer/dryer which can be rare in Maine. We enjoyed time on the deck and eating at the restaurant. Wonderful property and hosts!

Awesome spot overlooking Wheeler Bay!
We just returned home from a 5 day stay at the Miller's Quarry House. It is a perfect spot to relax and enjoy vacation. The pictures and property description are very accurate. We were very impressed with how clean and well equipped the house was. We spent most of our time out on the water boating. This is a great launching point to explore Penobscot and Muscongus Bays. Mark and Gail were great hosts. We appreciated their hospitality! Everything was great...the house, the dock, the mooring, the lobster, the deck, the comfy king bed, plenty of towels, etc, etc, etc!

Little Piece of Heaven
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the accommodations were top notch. The views from the house were breathtaking from the sunny skies to watching the fog roll in. The house had all the amenities of home and was the perfect spot to relax after day trips. We would highly recommend this rental to anyone planning a trip!

This was just what we wanted it to be for our long weekend. Eating every meal on the porch overlooking the wharf was amazing, and it's only a few miles from Birch Point State Park which has swimming, grills, and some of the finest sand I've ever seen, especially on a New England beach. Also, the lobster rolls at millers were as incredible as advertised! The whole weekend was super relaxing, and very low-key, which is what we were looking for. Gail was great, and we didn't need to call on him once (after we found the key the first night).
I definitely recommend staying here if you're looking for a relaxing getaway, and want to feel like you're part of the Maine coast.

Whether we sat on the porch or on the couch in the living room, we were surrounded by the beauty of the bay and the wide expanse of water and horizon. Rather than feeling like tourists, apart from the life around us, we felt so integrated into the life of our inlet and lobster pound, without feeling in any way intruded upon or interrupted by it. From the stillness and beauty of our perch, we could read and enjoy the silence, the sounds of the water and the privacy of this beautiful spot or we could watch the daily comings and goings of the fisherman and the pound employees in their daily routine. And whenever we chose to we could reap the benefits of their labor and order our incredibly fresh lobsters or lobster rolls and feast on the deck. The house, which had been the Miller home for many years, is comfortable and has whatever you need. Gail Miller is a joy to deal with. We enjoyed our stay thoroughly and would definitely go back.
