About this cottage rental
Our quaint 1950's classic cottage, cozy and charming, was totally rebuilt as a classic Cape Cod Saltbox in 2017. On the edge of the ocean close to the Hyannis Yacht Club, it is ideal for 2 couples, a small family of 4, or singles. We rebuit the cottage to include a large loft in crisp, European style. It offers year-round amenities, WIFI, Smart TV, AC & heat. The sunny living/dining room features vintage antique and modern accents. Relax on the comfortable sofa that converts to a queen bed, or slip onto the loveseat to finish your favorite book. The corner desk is great for projects or checking email. The loft has a queen bed and bunk beds. The new bathroom is light and airy with a cathedral ceiling and skylight. The new galley kitchen has modern appliances and a stack washer/dryer. Note: there is no dishwasher. The lofty cathedral ceiling sports skylights with bright sun all day & a ceiling fan to keep the breezes flowing. The new sliding door extends the kitchen onto the sunny, private deck, with dining/deck furniture and gas grill.

Easy stroll to the beach. Anything we wanted or needed was available on site. Lovely accommodations.

Loved the property: it was beautiful, clean, and well located. It’s well stocked with all you might need, to the point of too much leaving little counter space. Only complaint is the amount of messaging all over that makes one feel patronized. I don’t need a note to tell me to shut a faucet or turn off a light. Also would’ve liked clothing storage in loft. Was not expecting the only closet downstairs. A small inconvenience, though.

Lovely property. Had a bit of excitement when the hurricane came close but we were provided with everything we needed and the owners came to their home nearby to make sure everything was as it should be . Would definitely rent the same property again!

I absolutely loved my stay at Elaine's and John's Hyannis cottage! It was a perfect fit for my family of two (myself and young child). The location cannot have been better: truly a 3-minute walk to the beach and yet an easy bike ride (on a dedicated and well-maintained bike path) to Main Street Hyannis and the ferries to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket! I enjoyed having a quiet house and peaceful setting to retreat to after a long day enjoying the outdoors. My child loved being out in the yard that was sized just right for running and jumping during lawn games.
The cottage was well-appointed and has all you need to enjoy your vacation. And, the outside shower is a huge bonus!
Out hosts were in touch and able to answer any questions quickly. They are lovely. Thank you!!
We look forward to visiting their property soonest!

The house was just as advertised. Extremely cute on a quiet dead end street of similar houses. A 5 minute drive to downtown Hyannis and 5 minute walk to the beach. There isn’t any privacy since there is just a loft with sleeping quarters and no bedrooms but it worked out fine for us. The owner was very responsive via email and text with information and answers to questions. I recommend this adorable cottage for a stay on the Cape.

The cottage is extremely clean, cute, and cozy. Neighborhood is very quiet and a quick walk to the beach. Elaine is a wonderful host and a joy to talk to! Hope to stay again someday!

My family and I really enjoyed this cottage. Very cute and confortable. We loved the deck, had almost all our meals outside. Kitchen is a bit small but it works! Very handy to have washer/dryer.
The area is nice and quiet.
It’s a short walk to the beach but we didn’t love it so we drove to other beaches and paid parking…
Great communication with owners.
Thanks Elaine and John!

A clean and beautifully kept cottage, in a quiet neighborhood—but close enough to downtown, the grocery store, coffee breaks and the beach! Excellent communication from the beginning of booking through checkout!

Perfect little house, great location
This is the cutest, cleanest little house. We felt so lucky to be there and enjoy all that the Cape has to offer using this quiet location to relax at night. The house itself is small but expertly designed and incredibly comfortable. The location is a very quiet dead end street, with other adorable classic Cape-style houses, walkable to a beach (although we recommend driving to Nauset beach for a day), and even walkable to Main Street in Hyannis (tons of restaurants and shopping). I can’t say enough good things about this rental - and the owner Elaine is very sweet. :)

100% Recommend staying here!
Elaine and John were wonderful hosts! They were both there when we arrived and showed us a tour of the cottage. The cottage has everything you need to a fully stocked kitchen, extra towels and linens and even beach chairs! Place was extremely clean. Beach was 3 mins from cottage and about 15 minute walk into town! Would recommend staying here if you come to cape cod!

Hyannis Summer
This gem was amazing. The pictures on VRBO did not begin to do justice to this delightful cottage. The interior and exterior were immaculate. The beach was, as advertised, a three to four minute walk. The owners were unbelievably welcoming and available. Just plain good people.

Off the Beaten Path, yet Close to It All, on Cape Cod
My wife and I spent the better part of last week at Saltbox Cottage in Hyannis. Though I was there for medical work, the cottage was as relaxing as if I were on vacation. The location is superb, tucked away on a small side street just steps from the beach and ocean. The decor and furnishings are top notch.
No detail to make one's stay excellent has been foregotten.
Saltbox Cottage is an wonderful romantic Cape stay for a couple, but could easily be a fun filled stay for a family.
We have rented other homes on the Cape; this is by far the best.

Quaint Little Cottage
What a wonderful place to get away. This place was perfectly located as it was only a 3 minute car ride from restraints, shopping centers and a 3 min walk from the beach. This hostess was ready and willing to accommodate any way she could. Best experience yet!

Mid Cape Getaway
My husband and I had a nice time staying in this cute, well maintained bungalow. There were tons of windows throughout the house (skylights galore!) so the house got a lot of great natural light and a nice, refreshing crossbreeze - perfect for relaxing while doing our puzzle and reading. They also had the basics stocked for us - coffee, coffee filters, a Brita water pitcher, even some shampoo and conditioner. It is located very close to the beach and that made it easy to take a quick walk down to look for seashells or watch the sun set. It is also a reasonable walk into town for a drink or dinner (20 or so minutes each way). It is perfect for 2 people and might be a cramped if anyone else (kids) were to join. Fortunately for us, it was our anniversary getaway and we fit just fine. I recommend this property, and these renters, who were kind enough to touch base before we checked in and to leave us some chocolate! Thanks again!

We had a wonderful stay at this comfortable, modern cottage. The living area, loft bedroom, kitchen, and deck were perfectly appointed with everything we needed. It was bright and clean, and only a short walk to the local beach. Elaine's warm hospitality made us feel welcomed. Thank you for a great stay!

Wonderful cottage
This was the first property we have ever rented for a vacation, and it set the bar so high. Everything was so wonderful from the location, to how clean the cottage was, to how responsive the owners were and to how comfortable the cottage was. We would definitely stay here again!!

Meticulously cared for beach cottage in perfect location!
My husband and our two boys (6 and 3) were in need of a relaxing getaway and this cottage was perfect! Elaine was a wonderful host. Unfortunately, the washing machine broke prior to our arrival and we had a last minute repairman come to try and replace it, but Elaine communicated that to us and was there to meet the repairman, so we didn't have to worry about it. The washing machine wasn't able to be fixed, but she allowed us to use the washing machine at another property that she has. Regardless, it was a small issue, but good example of how communicative she was and how much she tried to help make it a better experience. The house is situated on a dead end street (great for kids) and on a street with other very nicely cared for homes. It is less than a few minutes walk to Sea Street Beach and the water. I ran in the neighborhood every morning and it was beautiful. It's off the beaten path, but still minutes from downtown Hyannis and Main street. The house was extremely clean and very nicely decorated. The outdoor shower was one of my favorite parts of the house! So refreshing and the kids loved it. It is a loft bedroom, so it is open to the downstairs. There is a queen bed and bunk beds in the loft. The bed was comfortable and it was very nice and open. One thing that I would suggest would be black out curtains in the loft as my youngest woke up earlier than normal due to the beautiful sunshine coming in through the windows. However, if you don't mind the sun coming in early (it was a calming way to wake up), then this isn't an issue. Or you could just make sure to bring some sort of curtain to block out the sun in the early morning. It's a small house, but everything was laid out to maximize the space and we honestly didn't notice the size. The deck was great for eating outside or enjoying a morning cup of coffee. I look for VRBO houses often and I am always leery about booking...I promise you that you won't be disappointed. We will most certainly be back!

Nice, clean house.
Overall good and friendly owners. House is perfect for a 2 people. Inside and yard very clean.
After traveling a week before arriving, was very disappointed that washer was broken and we were not notified in advance. It also appeared owners entered the house one or more times when we were away.

Adorable and Perfect!
We had a wonderful time at Elaine and John's cottage. Simple, clean, fresh interior, supplied with everything you might need. Elaine was easily accessible and really helpful to solve any issue. I would come again and highly recommend staying here. The location is pretty central to anything you want to do in Cape Cod and the Kennedy's are practically your neighbors lovely neighborhood to walk around, beach 3 minute walk. 5 Stars!

HANDS DOWN the best cottage and hosts EVER!!
This is my first Home Away review and I’ve booked homes on here for years. If you’re looking for the cutest Cape Cod cottage 3 minutes from the beach, this is your place. Not only is the location perfect, but Elaine and John go above and beyond to make you feel at home. Elaine was so accommodating — it rained during our stay and she checked in to make sure we were okay the entire time. Cape Cod is stunning and I would come back just to stay in this cottage and hopefully meet Elaine and John! Thank you again for letting us book this beautiful cottage. Can’t wait to come back again!

Wonderful cottage with all the modern amenities!
Elaine and John's home is comfortable, clean, well appointed, and beautiful. The cottage is stocked with everything you need. It felt like home from the moment we walked in. My husband, 2 young children, and I eased right into our stay. It is a 5 minute (or less) walk to the beach making it easy to go back if you forget anything or if you have little ones that nap. The bunk beds were a big hit with our son. You cannot beat the location of this house, situated within a 5 minute drive to downtown, restaurants, and tons of stores. We loved everything about our stay here. Our only regret is that we did not stay longer! Elaine is lovely and was very quick to respond to all my emails. We will certainly be back to stay again!

Norris #23 = perfect stay & location!
My boyfriend and I celebrated our anniversary with a week stay in Norris #23 cottage. It could not have been better!
Booking - Elaine was fast to respond when I had questions, clearly communicated costs, and sent over the house guidebook promptly upon booking.
Our stay -
- perfect proximity to the beach. Easy 5 minute walk
- about a 3 minute drive to downtown Hyannis or even a quick run; I ran around Hyannis and Hyannis Port every morning. What gorgeous views!
- The house is not updated but that's okay! It had traditional Cape Cod charm as a cottage.
- Everything you could want for the beach - chairs, towels, sand toys, etc.
- Outdoor shower was great for post beach wash offs
- Even included most toiletries! Towels, sheets, bar of soap, paper towels, dish soap, toilet papers. Most cottages do not include all of this and this is one major reason we booked here!
- Kitchen - fully stocked and better than other homes we've rented; so many cooking supplies.
- washer / dryer were good
- beds - very comfortable; we used the king and it was perfect for our week.
- AC - separate unit that blows into the main living room area; because it's reach is somewhat limited it can make the back of the house kitchen area a little warm on a hot day but not a big deal for us. The breeze from the beach was great and we kept the AC to nights only and opened all the windows during the day.
- the deck is amazing! We used this for breakfasts, dinners, and desserts. The laid back chairs were wonderful. The only add on was us having to buy bug spray for the night time mosquitos otherwise we could have spent full nights out there enjoying the evening.
- the grill is very new and we loved it! Used for 5 dinners
- Proximity to the rest to the rest of hte Cape - SO easy! 8 minute drive to the grocery and liquor stores. We also visited Sandwich, Dennis, Dennis Port, Chatham, Provincetown, and many other towns. You can go anywhere from this cottage.
Overall, we have no complaints and would highly recommend staying at this cottage. Elaine was wonderful and so was the cottage!

awesome week!!
We just came back from a beautiful week at this cottage. I have to say that it was our second year in a row we rented the cottage. It is very well located, clean, equipped, etc.. It is close to the beach and also to the ferries, HYC.
The water is warm and quite calm which is great when you have young kids.
Elayne has been a great host, extremely nice, and responding quickly to any question we had.
We really enjoy Cape Cod, Hyannis, and the more we come, the more we want to come back !

Great place to stay!
This saltbox cottage was neat, clean, comfortable and well-stocked. It is located in the perfect spot to enjoy all of Cape Cod. The owners were very helpful and friendly. They were always quick to answer any questions and offered good recommendations including Tumi's (Italian/Peruvian) Restaurant, where we enjoyed the best meal of the trip. I would certainly stay here again.
