One enters through a vaulted breezeway to the entry courtyard where the terraced gardens and shade trees soften the view and provide separate and distinct areas for all forms of rest & relaxation. All downstairs rooms including living, dining, library/offfice and detached guest quarters have french doors that open onto private gardens and outdoor living spaces. High ceilings throughout and casual, but, elegant decor including hardwood floors and seagrass carpet, give the house a comfortable feel that combines the best of Spanish Colonial architecture with modern day California living. Multigenerational gathering a success
The house, the host, the environs all collaborated to make our multigenerational stay terrific. Our host was very kind, available when we had questions, and made us feel most welcome. The drive way accomodated our three cars and a total of 8 stayed in the house. We all agreed we would want to visit again.

Beautiful Historic Villa with Spectacular Views
This is a simply beautiful estate with incredible views of Santa Barbara and the Coast. The outside patio with a fireplace and seating is a terrific place for a meal or snacks while enjoying the view. The bedrooms are all quite comfortable. The only downside is that the upstairs rooms with wonderful views have no drapes so you get full sunlight right away in the morning. If you wake up if there is too much light then this will bother you. The grounds are lovely. The kitchen is well equipped for any kind of meal prep that you want to do and there is a gas grill as well. The owner is very helpful and gave us some nice tips. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

Absolutely gorgeous and very helpful owner
We had an unforgettable stay at this wonderful estate. The views surpass the pictures by miles. The owner was very helpful and you really do feel as if you are in the Riviera of another country.

Fabulous!! Santa Barbara retreat
Laurel was great, she has done an amazing job with this beautiful quintessential Santa Barbara home. It couldn't have been better, it was clean open airy with lots of beautiful gardens and patios for all of us to enjoy. We were two families of 4. 4 Adults and 4 older kids, 13, 17's, 21. Thank you Laurel we really enjoyed our stay and we will be back again.

Relaxing, casual home with bohemian vibe ...
I read all of the reviews, and feel I can't say much new ... our story is much the same as the others ... a group of six girlfriends chose this house for a special 25 year reunion. The pictures do not do this house justice. Everywhere you look, there's something to feast the eyes on ... from the view that goes on for miles, mountains, Santa Barbara and ocean ... to the lovely paintings, antiques and Spanish Colonial feel of the house ... to the gardens that beg to be explored and sprawl out through the property. I had to pinch myself!
While he house is older, which makes for quirky locks, and uneven floors, this only adds to the charm. The furnishings are incredibly cozy, and there are so many places to lose yourself, both inside and out, with a book, glass of wine, or to visit. We used every room ... coffee and wine on the terraces, breakfast al fresco and in the dining room, after dinner drinks in front of the fire. There are many classic books in the library, the kitchen is well appointed, and there are TV set ups, although with so much beauty, who had time?
The only "con" is the location, as it is twisty turny up the hill, but it really turns into a "pro" as the view begs you to never leave. I'm counting the days until I can return ...

Beautiful Retreat - so relaxing!
Six of us ladies booked a few days in this magical villa. The whole property gives you the feeling that you are somewhere far away from all the chaos that is life. We relaxed and thoroughly enjoyed all the gardens and the patios. Every little space in this house holds another surprise. Laurel made us all feel so welcome, and the houses stunning! We will absolutely be making this a repeat destination.

Spanish Villa
Beautiful property.
However, the 2nd bathroom upstairs had minimal lighting ( one sconce by door) and only a bathtub w/a handheld shower head which was not modern, comfortable, or practical.

Even better than expected!
Our family of four recently rented this home for the week between Christmas and New Year's Eve. We have rented many homes (probably 15, including 3 in SB) over the years & this was a standout. What makes it special? Here are our thoughts:
1) The small things: it is always in the details. We loved the wonderful books in the home, the nice toiletries in the bathrooms & the fabulous boogie boards that Laurel left for our children.
2). The view: it is as good as described in the other reviews. We had 5:00 sunset each night with a glass of wine on the patio. (There are multiple patios & we spent a lot of time outside.)
3). The home: The home is a classic...great architecture and beautifully, yet comfortably, furnished. The home that we rented (at a higher price) last year was not clean & this home was perfectly kept which we appreciated.
We highly recommend this home. Our only thoughts are to expect a drive up (the beautiful view does require some work!) of about 7 minutes & expect to use your GPS. Also, bring eye-shades if you are not a morning person as there are no curtains in the upstairs bedrooms. (On the flip side, it is magical to wake up to the red/orange sunrise.)
We would rent this home again...truly special.

Great property
A group of friends stayed here for two short nights and it was a fantastic place. Classic old house perched on the hill, amazing view, great grounds. Laurel was great and easy to work with to set everything up. Far enough from town to be quiet and relaxing but close enough to run for more wine if needed. There's a great patio and fireplace and the views are ridiculously good.
Definitely didn't want to leave.

Absolutely perfect for a getaway
This house was absolutely gorgeous and comfortable, and the owner was lovely!
We had a small group of girlfriends staying at this house for a weekend bride's trip and we almost never left the house because it was so wonderful! We really did try to make plans for the evening (there's a hotel bar nearby), but we found that there was no point in going to a hotel when we were staying at this house!
A few comments about the house from the collective group:
--Great kitchen, very useful for cooking for a family wanting to stay in the house.
--Spectacular, breathtaking view. We all took so many pictures!
--Comfortable rooms. A couple girls shared the rooms, but all rooms were comfortable and cozy with lovely sunlight. Think there were a couple of cribs as well, in case you have children.
--Nice sitting areas, both inside and outside. If you're looking to relax with your family or group, the family/living room and the outdoor patio(s) are perfect.
--Close to Trader Joe's if you need groceries. Think it was about a 10 minute drive.
There is nothing major to complain about--just make sure to read the directions the owner provides you! Google maps and GPS takes you a bit off track when you're near the house.

Charm galore
We were in Santa Barbara attending a friend's daughter's wedding. I was in charge of finding a house for our group, this villa could be rented as four bedrooms, there is a studio outside of the main house. I was a little worried that our friends might find the house a bit old. The minute we walked in, everybody was going 'woo and ah", the villa is more beautiful than the pictures shown. The view is stunning, it feels like you are on the Mediterranean coast. We love sitting on the patio having breakfast and watch the fog dissipate, the ocean becomes clearer, we also love sipping wine outside in the evening, with the fireplace lit, watching the city lights below us and the stars above us twinkle. We all agreed that we would like to be back.

Stellar vacation home
Six friends since childhood have been having reunions once a year for the past 30 years. This year we returned to Santa Barbara and decided to rent a home. We *loved* our stay at this villa! It completely lived up to the online description. The owner and manager were cordial and responsive to all our questions. The views from the bedrooms and terraces were stunning. We enjoyed scenic hikes, a vist to the Art Museum, Botanical Gardens and beach, great meals at Arts & Letters Cafe and nearby El Encanto Hotel, and lovely afternoons and evenings on the patio. All six of us agreed that this was our best reunion yet, in no small part due to our beautiful accommodations.

Santa Barbara at its best!!!
Our group of 6 stayed at this exquisite home Labor Day weekend to celebrate a wedding at a nearby resort. This historic property lived and breathed romance!! We were all captivated by the warmth and elegance of the spanish-mediterranean design and architecture throughout the home and gardens. From the grand entryway to the panoramic views of the coastline from within each bedroom including the stone tiled patio and fireplace overlooking all of Santa Barbara made for perfect entertaining. Our 3 night stay along with the owner's gracious hospitality made for one of the most memorable experiences in our lives. Thank you for sharing this special place with all of us :)

Planning Our Next Visit
We booked this villa for our family to stay at the weekend of my daughter's wedding last September.
It was positively perfect. Views galore, outdoor spaces, plenty of room to eat, play, sleep and even hang my daughter's wedding gown with its long train. The rooms are spacious and so comfortable.
Laurel is very generous with the ammenities in the house. It felt like home, and I can't think of one thing that we needed.
I am looking forward to going back in October! We were so busy with the wedding last year. This visit will be spent enjoying this property!
We are pretty regular visitors to Santa Barbara. I've stayed at some great places, but this house will always be my first choice in the future. It's tucked up in the hills. The views cannot be beat. It's a quick drive down the hill to the mission and downtown.
We will venture out to get croissants at Renaut's Bakery (the best!), and perhaps visit one of the many fabulous restaurants in SB (Stella Mare, Jane, Milk and Honey...), BUT honestly, our plan is to just relax for a couple of days in this wonderful place.
Laurel is fabulous to work with. I have recommended this place to many people, bragged about it to anyone who will listen, and have encouraged our wedding coordinator and floral designer to check it out as a petite venue for events. It's a gem!

Gorgeous views and comfortable surroundings
Our family (including 2 adult children, spouse, significant other, and grandchild) stayed this summer. We can't say enough about the location, the view, the land, and the house. It was a truly memorable vacation.

Small Wedding a Major Success
We rented this enchanting property for our small wedding in February. The property has such a wow factor and really amazed us and our guests. We were married on the patio overlooking the coastline, the islands, and the city below. The gardens and house are so gorgeous. The experience was truly beyond our expectations and we all had such a great time relaxing and enjoying the grounds and the views. I felt like we were in Italy. The housekeeper, Margarita, helped us with food, table and coffee prep and was there to help things run smoothly, which turned out to be a very good thing. If you are going to have a small wedding, you can't go wrong having it here! It's unbelievable. We want to rent it again for our anniversaries!

Santa Barbara Wonder
One occasionally runs into property where the experience went way beyond your expectations, and this is one of them. My wife and I have rented several homes in Santa Barbara, 3 on the Rivera, and one on the beach on the mesa. The Rivera is a hill backing downtown SB, rises over 500 feet, and has some of the finest views in the entire region. Laurel's home sits on the very top of the Rivera with breath taking views of the ocean, the channel islands, downtown SB and you see both sunrise and sunset from this home. The home is very private, surrounded by beautiful grounds, and looks like an estate property that was likely the first one in the area. The home was very comfortable and we never ate out since we loved cooking in the kitchen and the eating outside near the patio fireplace. Several nights we ate in the large dinning room where the conversation went past 11 pm. This home is very comfortable for 2 couples or possible 3 if you don't mind sharing the 2 bathrooms upstairs. This home has enough indoor public spaces and outdoor deck space that it would be a perfect place to have a number of people over to celebrate a birthday or possibly do a small wedding. We hope to go back soon!
