About this house rental
We've had more than one guest tell us that Bancroft Cottage was better than their stay at the Hotel Dupont! (and a lot more reasonable may we add). In the event that we already have a guest checking out on the day you are checking in, or checking in on the day you are checking out we will need to adjust the check-in or check-out time by one hour to allow sufficient time for the Housekeeper. Upscale detached home in a safe and quiet neighborhood. Highly upgraded with $150,000 in property and furniture upgrades. Fabulous gourmet kitchen, Pottery Barn style decor, comfy screened in porch, garage and additional parking. If you are seeking a corporate rental or vacation stay in the Wilmington, Delaware area, this charming Cape Cod home is a lovely choice. Stay a week or a month and feel comfortable with all the amenities of a fine hotel. This home has been totally remodeled with top of the line kitchen cabinetry and granite counter tops with hardwood floors throughout. Two large Bedrooms with Queen size beds and flat screen TVs on the 2nd level share a beautifully upgraded full bath. The finished, but not Five Star basement is the 4th bedroom with two single beds and an adjacent full bathroom. A cozy screened in porch is just off the spacious Living Room which has a fireplace, wine cabinet as well as a 52' flat screen TV. Our key-less lock system eliminates picking up keys, dropping off keys, losing keys or getting locked out! You will be given a code to access the front and back door locks during your stay. You may e-mail or call us during stay if there is an issue or need not covered in your Instructions. Situated on beautiful Bancroft Parkway in a desirable Wilmington neighborhood. Local area attractions include food and entertainment at the Riverfront, Winterthur Museum (a DuPont Mansion and Gardens), 12 miles from the University of Delaware, 11 miles to Wyeth Country, 30 minutes from Philadelphia Airport, minutes from Historic New Castle, home of the minor league Wilmington Blue Rocks. This is a beautiful property, inside and out, located in a well appointed neighborhood. We had a few issues( usual kind of things) that the owners responded to very quicky and got resolved. Would definitely stay here again.

The house was perfect for our group of six adult family members. Three full bathrooms was the primary selling point for selecting the house. The neighborhood and screen porch were great benefits. Early morning coffee on the screen porch made for a great start to the day.

We thoroughly enjoyed the house and the beautiful neighborhood, especially breakfasts on the screened porch. The hosts seemed to think of everything, and were very responsive when we had questions. We would definitely stay there again.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Rooster house. The secret kid’s room off the bedroom was PERFECT for our almost 2 year old. We all slept so well! House had everything we needed and such a fantastic neighborhood. Appreciated the price, location, amenities, and communication. A+

As a retired Air Force officer, I have lived away from my Delaware family for over 30 years. I’ve stayed w family during every one of my trips home until this trip. My kids are college age and we just needed our own space during the crazy Christmas festivities. This property was absolutely perfect. We had plenty of room, great sleep and the house was a super cozy place to retire after socializing all day. Will definitely rent this place again on one of my future trips home! Happy 2024!!

The house remains our favorite among the many VRBO rentals we have used over almost fifteen years. Even cooked an elaborate dinner for 9 in the well-stocked kitchen.

We enjoyed the charm of the home and the neighborhood.
Six adults had plenty of space to relax and enjoy our weekend. We would highly recommend this property for a stay in Delaware.

We needed a property to accommodate 4 generations (ages 1-89) for a local family event. The home is in a superb location (quick access to I-95) and on a tree-lined, walkable neighborhood with warm and welcoming decor.

We have nearby older relatives without children, so we have tried to visit them more regularly. Staying at a hotel with two teen-agers and a 20-something became too much. This year, we planned a 10-day stay and rented this house. It was a a great choice. The property is in historic part of Wilmington, and the house fit right in, with a well landscaped outdoors and a nice, time-appropriate interior. A wonderful screened in porch, perfect to avoid the summer mosquitos. A nice launching point to visit relatives in town, head to Philadelphia, see South Jersey and make a reasonable drive to the beach. The owners were responsive about a change in reservation and questions we had before and during the stay.

This property is well-equipped and in a good location. There is enough room for the family to spread out. We had a small issue with the door locks, but the owner was quick to help us out. Will definitely stay here again when I’m Wilmington.

Perfect location to explore Dupont estates, Brandywine River Museum, Longwood Gardens and Mt Cuba. Lovely neighborhood and house. Friendly people. We appreciated the quick response to an issue we had an issue our first night.

The house was perfect for our group, with three bathrooms and separation of the sleeping areas. We took walks along Bancroft Walkway and felt very safe. House was clean and in great repair.

Overall it was very comfortable. I would say the linens need to be upgraded a bit, they were pretty used. The bathrooms dont really have anywhere to hang or put your toiletries while using them but the water pressure was great!

We were in town to work the BMW Championship for 10 days and this house was a great solution. There were three adults and it worked out really well. After long days on the course, we enjoyed the many great restaurants in the neighborhood (and even a leftover night at the house).
The owners are great and communication was better than most. If I am ever in the area again, I would definitely stay here.

One of the best.
We’ve stayed in VRBOs in many places here and abroad. You won’t find a better one. The house, the location, and the host . . . Amazing!

The Bancroft Cottage is the perfect place to call home away from home.
Great location to frequent all the centralized restaurants and attractions yet easy to venture off to the Greenville area and beyond. Can’t wait to rent this wonderful place again when we visit next summer

Perfect Lodging for My Family
We have family in the Wilmington area and came for a visit. In order to have our own space, we rented Bancroft Cottage -- it was perfect for us! Each of my 3 college-aged children had his space to unwind and relax after busy days. The house is well-equipped for cooking, but we ate most of our meals off-site. It was very clean and convenient. We'll rent again!

Wonderful sanctuary.
Richard was a pleasure to meet; and the porch became our go-to coffee shop from which we enjoyed the neighborhood.

Comfortable and nicely located
We needed a place to stay with our adult children to attend a funeral. This house was extremely comfortable, had everything we needed, located in a nice, quiet neighborhood and was very close to the family living in Wilmington. Additionally, being able to park in a driveway, not on the street was a real bonus for a house in town. The owner was quick to respond to messages and very easy to communicate with. I would easily stay here again and would highly recommend this property to others.

Great getaway!
My family rented for 4 days due to home renovations. Bancroft Parkway was welcoming and well-equipped for the home-away from home experience—-with plenty of separate space for working from home. Richard was very responsive to a minor glitch with check-in access. We had a great stay and would definitely recommend!

Bancroft Parkway five stars!
This property was exactly as described and was one of the best-equipped properties we have rented. Everything was there, easily accessed and well labeled. The location has a lot to offer including a nearby playground for kids.

Lovely cottage on tree-lined street
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our 3-week stay at Bancroft Cottage. It was perfect for visiting our daughter and new grandchild who live nearby. The house is beautifully decorated with elegant finishes. Our bed was super comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed, and the neighborhood is quiet, gorgeous, and perfect for taking long walks. Communication with the owners was easy, and the keyless entry was so convenient! We highly recommend and hope to return soon.

Comfortable home in great location
We had the opportunity to stay at Bancroft Cottage for a month from mid-July to mid-August 2020. The house is very well equipped, with everything needed to feel right at home. For us the location was perfect as it was within walking distance to many of the places we frequented during out stay, as well as an easy drive to visit friends and attractions in the area. We hope to come back to Wilmington in the future and we will definitely look to stay here again when we do.

Beware
Location was nice. House had things broken and needed minor repairs faucet, closet door hinge broken, peeling ceiling paint, ceiling fan was unsafe because it was loose in ceiling. Dishes n bakeware were dirty and I had to wash before using. We were contacted and told we damaged closet door. It was off its hinges and when opened screws fell out.
The house was furnished well and beds comfortable. Just needs some TLC before renting again.

Great Wilmington Location
This was a great rental all around. Comfortable, clean, well stocked, great location. Also, a first for me, owner left wine in the house at a nominal charge !

Beautiful house and neighborhood for six women.
This house was very clean, comfortable, safe and close to many attractions. We went and toured New Castle, The Grand Opera House and saw a show, "Little Italy" for dinner, took a train ride through the foliage, walked Newark and played pinball at the "1984 Arcade Bar" a couple of blocks away. The owner was very nice to deal with and the price of the rental inexpensive compared to others in the area. We all had a really enjoyable weekend.

Heaven in Wilmington
I returned to Wilmington for the first time in 25 years and, having grown up 5 blocks from this home, thought it would be a great location. I can't recommend this property highly enough! It's a beautiful home with plenty of room and a warm, cozy feel as soon as you walk in the door. It is obviously very well maintained and provides a central location for getting around town. A recently renovated kitchen and off-street parking are two big advantages. If you're looking for a place to rent in Wilmington put this lovely home at the top of your list. My best recommendation is I will stay her again the next time I return to Wilmington.
