Also available are a thornless blackberry and blueberry patch with fruit ripening in the summer for your enjoyment.
There is parking for 3 cars in the drive way.
The cottage is on a quiet lane in a classic New England rural village sited on peninsula projecting into Narragansett Bay. The area offers magnificent sea views across idyllic pastures, dairies and farms. An easy walk leads to pristine Goosewing Beach, rated one of the top 5 best beaches in New England by Boston Magazine; it is a mile long and perfect for swimming, beach combing, sunning, kayaking and surfing. At night (with permit) one can have bonfires for a clam bake or cookout by the surf. Numerous nearby wildlife preserves, riding stables and nature trials offer bird watching, hiking and biking.
To the West, Newport with it's famous 'gilded age' mansions, well preserved colonial district, numerous boutique shops and art galleries are a wonderful day trip just 35 min. away. Bristol's stately homes and gardens and Colt Park in Warren are delightful and all in easy reach.
To the East, New Bedford, home of largest fishing fleet in New England is just 25 miles and offers superb seafood restaurants, a quaint 18th century town quarter and the renowned Whaling Museum. Ferries leave daily for Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket Island.
To the North in Fall River (25 min. away) is the WWII historic navy sight featuring the battleship USS Massachusetts, WWII PT boats like President Kennedy's, a WWII US submarine a small navy museum and other sights.
Closer attractions include golf courses, canoe and kayak rentals on the Westport River and wine tasting at Sakonnett vineyards. Tiverton Four Corners offers crafts outlets, restaurants, ice cream and art galleries set in historic grist mill buildings on rushing brook. Numerous farm stands offer local produce, especially berries and fruits, as well as fresh fish.
September through mid October is a glorious time at Hydrangea Cottage in Little Compton. There are fewer people on the nearby beaches, the Ocean is at it's warmest, the days are balmy, the nights cool and crisp. The fall harvest fills the shelves of road farm stands. There are no lines for area attractions including the Newport Mansions, historic sites and museums.
Pets are welcome, a $150 Pet deposit per pet is required which is refundable if no damage.

We absolutely love Hydrangea Cottage!! The house is immaculate and very spacious and comfortable. It had everything we could need, and it's in such a quiet peaceful setting. For anyone who likes both the country and the ocean, this is the perfect location because you can drive or bike through scenic farmland and yet you are still very close (a 3-minute drive!) from a beautiful ocean beach, We definitely hope to come back!!

Hydrangea Cottage is the best vacation rental we’ve ever had! The kitchen is well equipped, the rooms are clean and spacious, and very comfortable. Donatela is a lovely host, and we hope to stay there again!

The Hydrangea cottage was spacious, clean and comfortable. We enjoyed walking to the beach every day, relaxing on the sunny deck, and exploring this bucolic area of Rhode Island. Could not recommend this rental more highly.

This spacious house is nicely decorated and furnished. Linens and soaps are high quality. The kitchen has a large selection of dishes, pans, and small tools.
The house is on a quiet gravel road and has lovely gardens and a wonderful back deck and patio with BBQ grill. It’s walking distance to South Shore Beach and to a nice farm market (Wishing Stone Farms).
Donatella responded quickly to emails. I felt comfortable that she would have addressed any issues immediately (we had no problems during our stay).
This is a great spot for a relaxing vacation.

We stayed here for a week in late August. Great location for daily time at South Shore beach, and we were grateful later in the day for the very comfortable furnishings and A/C for an especially warm summer. Host was friendly and responsive!

Very clean, comfortable, and attractive cottage, with everything extremely well-provided for an enjoyable family vacation rental, inside the house and also outside on the deck and in the yard.

Our family vacation was wonderful and relaxing in a beautiful, clean house located in a nice neighborhood. My first time on VRBO and was impressed with ease of booking and very delightful and helpful property manager. Look forward to go next year!

This was our second stay at Hydrangea Cottage and our first during the summer season. The cottage itself is very clean, uncluttered, and yet well-equipped. It served our party of six (three generations from age 9-68) very comfortably for the week, and quite frankly we could have stayed longer. The local neighborhood was great for walks, morning runs, and bike rides for the kids. A rainy day allowed us to take advantage of the puzzles and books at the house. A built-in desk was handy for a few ongoing work calls. We cooked nearly every meal at the house over the course of the week (all with local produce and meat from the farm store a quick walk from the house or other nearby farms), supplemented just with a pastry run at Tiverton, seafood at Bristol, and blackberries from the yard! The cottage is in a quiet location about a 15 minute walk from the town beach, which we went to at least once a day through the week, weather permitting. The beach is family-friendly and perfect for boogey boarding and surfing lessons, and while it can get crowded in peak season, walking further down to the adjacent Goosewing Beach (part of the nature preserve) will thin the crowd completely. It’s also a great starting point for a day trip to Newport, the excellent bike trail between Bristol and Providence, nature trails, birdwatching at nature preserves, and enjoying other points in coastal Massachusetts. Donatella, the owner, was communicative and welcoming. We look forward to returning!

Quiet Retreat
Very comfortable and welcoming property. Very roomy and ample outdoor area to enjoy coffee or wine in the sunshine and the beautiful landscape. During our stay, the Monarch butterflies were plentiful and the night sky was filled with stars. Would recommend for a quiet get away with easy driving access to South Shore Beach. Linda October 2021

Comfortable, spacious, clean and beautiful hydrangeas!
We had a really nice stay at this property. It is super comfortable, spacious and clean. I especially appreciated the central air conditioning over the hot summer! And it was great for our dog because we could walk to South Shore Beach in the morning where you can walk on with leashed dogs on the beach until 9am!

Return to Hydrangea Cottage
This was our second time staying at Hydrangea Cottage, and it was every bit as delightful as the first.
The house is so comfortable, with plenty of room for six people, and spotlessly clean. The kitchen is well equipped (although we mostly just had corn and tomatoes and burgers on the grill).
The Little Compton town beach ("South Shore Beach") is just a couple minutes away. We bought a week pass ($50) and went every day. Especially enjoyed watching the little kids learning to surf.
We just wish the vacation didn't have to end.

Absolutely Wonderful Experience.
We LOVED the cottage. The hosts are amazingly sweet and we are so very grateful! Thank you, thank you! The outside gardens are as beautiful the inside: open, airy, spotlessly clean with lots of space for everyone! It was our first time vacationing here and were pleasantly delighted to see the online description was right on the mark! The location is ideal: rural, quiet and minutes from all your needs. We cannot imagine having a better experience! We are definitely, absolutely returning!

Great place
Lovely cottage. The open kitchen, dining room and living room made it feel so spacious and relaxing, and that whole area was so bright and sunny. LOVED the large deck and patio for outdoor living. Sun there every afternoon. All 3 bathrooms had lots of counter top space on the vanities...so much better than those pedestal sinks with no where to put your stuff! Little Compton and surrounding towns are pastoral, idyllic, quaint, and beautiful with their rock walls and meadows, as well as lots of water views.

The perfect get away
We couldn't have asked for a better place to reconnect with our kids after so much time apart due to the pandemic. Donatella provided great tips ahead of time and we planned accordingly. The Commons restaurant next to Wilburs General store in the center of town had the most delicious fried clams and fries combined with the cole slaw from Wilburs made for a great easy meal. I recommend picking up lobsters at the Sakonnet
lobster Co. a short drive away from a super sweet Lobsterman. Picking up veggies and treats at Wishingstone farm around the corner is a must. The people were lovely , the produce was magnificent and they have the biggest cat we had ever seen. Skimming stones on the beach at sunset completed the perfect long weekend. Enjoy!

Peaceful, special retreat
This was our first visit to Little Compton and we loved the pastoral setting. Hydrangea Cottage is a very special property in peaceful surroundings with gorgeous gardens. We loved the open, airy quality of the comfortable living space with the high ceiling and there are plenty of windows and light. The house was well appointed and linens supplied were good quality. The outdoor shower was a real treat. We were able to walk or drive to the local South Shore beach although, without the pass, parking, was not always available. We drove to Horseneck Beach one day when we couldn’t get in locally and it was an easy drive. We lived outside on the comfortable, spacious deck for the 2 weeks having been cooped up in small NY apartments for 5 months and appreciated the quiet setting for reading and relaxing. Although we are not big TV watchers, we did want to watch a couple of movies we brought along and the only change we would suggest is to update the television as it is many years old. All in all, we had a wonderful 2 weeks and would return to this idyllic vacation spot.

We loved staying at this well-loved property. We spent so much time reading and relaxing on the deck, walking to the beach, and eating the local produce from near-by farms.

Lovely, Clean & Comfortable
The Hydrangea Cottage was just what we needed for a one-week getaway for our family of 4 (with 2 teens).
The cottage is extremely clean, comfortable, charming & uncluttered. The kitchen is very well equipped (not the odds & ends one sometimes finds at rentals). A/C and WiFi was strong, so we were able to do work check-ins without any problem.
We enjoyed meals on the deck, under an umbrella, surrounded by the lovely hydrangeas in full bloom! The neighborhood was quiet, with privacy between neighbors, who seem to be a mix of full-time and vacation residences. We picked up fresh produce at the Wishing Stone farm market just up the road. It was an easy 15 minute walk / 7 minute bike ride to the public South Shore Beach (extending to Goosewing Beach). Parking was limited at the beach to enforce social distancing, but walk/bike on had no restrictions and the beach itself was delightful.
Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Wonderful, Wonderful, Wonderful
The Hydrangea Cottage was simply wonderful. The layout was perfect for the four of us. Clean, up to date and honestly, I could not think of anything that I would improve on. I LOVED the new grill and outdoor deck and patio. The owner was amazing regarding how she literally thought of everything to equip us for an outstanding time away. We are beach people and we were pleased to have spent the entire week at Goosewing beach. One of the best in New England. 5 Stars all around.

Happy Days at Hydrangea Cottage!
We had a fantastic time at Hydrangea Cottage. Everything we needed for a fun and relaxing week of vacation was available to us. The interior house layout was perfect for our family which includes 2 teenage sons. Open concept kitchen, dining and family room area. Bedrooms in the back of the house if privacy was preferred. The outside grounds were a sight to behold with all of the beautiful plantings, beautiful blue stone patio with grill and a deck for enjoying outdoor dinners. The beach was .7 miles from the house and the property had an outdoor shower which made dealing with the sand a snap. We were within 20-25 minutes of Newport as well as some nice restaurants within and around Little Compton and Westport, MA. We had a wonderful time at the cottage and would definitely stay here again in the future.

Little Compton Getaway
Our stay at Hydrangea Cottage was just what we hoped for, relaxing and fun with plenty of activities and new places to explore. The house is generously sized, perfectly laid out and the outdoor deck and patio make for the perfect lounging spot! The large yard is also perfect for little kids to run around and get out their energy (if they didn’t burn it all down at the beach)!
Hydrangea Cottage has it all and we look forward to making it a regular family vacation spot!

Memorable Days at Hydrangea Cottage!
If you love spending time in Little Compton, you have found your " go to " Home!
Yes, the weather was May perfection for our stay but rain or shine this Cottage would make for a Lovely stay!
We have rented many homes over the years and we have many boxes that need to be checked from : "pet-friendly" to a recent addition of "Not too many steps!" This Charming Home covered it all and then some...
The layout of the Home works so well with the 3 well- appointed bedrooms away from the main living area. Also, having the 2 1/2 Bathrooms is a plus! Everything is clean, the colors, bright and attractive, and all works just fine! However, you will probably spend most of your time on the wonderful deck and in the pretty yard!
The location of the Home is also convenient with close proximity to the Commons and to South Shore Beach!
The welcoming Owner is a pleasure to work with!
Here's to many more enjoyable days at this comfortable Home! Thank You!

Wonderful week in Hydrangea Cottage
We stayed at this home for a week with my daughter, son in law, and their baby. Everyone enjoyed the House. We enjoyed the convenience of being close to the beautiful beach and the quiet neighborhood. The house had AC, important for August comfort. Great porch and patio for grilling and relaxing. Nice farm market around the corner. Love Little Compton!

Wedding Getaway
What a beautiful property tucked away at the end of Wild Cherry Drive. We attended a wedding in Little Compton with 2 other couples, and the house slept 6 very comfortably. Multiple large bathrooms, plus a newly installed outdoor shower gave a bonus. Beds were very comfortable. The large living / kitchen area gave us all a place to sit back and eat, drink and talk. Also, a 4 minute car ride or 15 min walk takes you down to the beach - which stretches for miles. Both tucked away and beach accessible, all the people that stayed with us loved the Hydrangea Cottage. Would definitely visit again.

Year 4, and ready to return
Our in-law bonding week in RI continues to be a pleasure, in part because of Hydrangea Cottage. Comfy, nicely fitted out, near the beach, near a farm stand, quiet neighbors... the list goes on. Signing up for 2018!

Truly my home away from home
Second year staying. Nice to see owners that are constantly upgrading/renovating; every amenity is quality. Rather remote but anything you need is near by...Wilbur's in the Commons is a surprise with it's grocery/gift/hardware supply. Crowthers Restaurant is not fancy but has never disappointed. Highly recommend the Hydrangea Cottage.

Neat as a pin!! Cute seaside cottage
Very well cared for and neat as a pin!! We have been trying for a vacancy at this cute and comfortable seaside cottage for years. Only a mile from the shore in a great residential neighborhood. Walk (20min), bike (7 minutes) or drive (4 minutes) to South Beach and Goosewing Beach. Parking fee applies to those who take a vehicle and park. Central A/C is wonderful for the times when there isn't an ocean breeze.
Lots of local farm stands for fabulous fresh off the field produce. We favor the corn from Walkers. Grey's in Tiverton is our favorite spot for ice cream, and a new favorite for ice cream (only a bike ride away) is the Trolley near downtown Little Compton.
The gardens at the hydrangea house are lovely. Pride of ownership abounds at this special cottage.
