About this villa rental

A traditional Canarian villa with spectacular 180° Atlantic views, surrounded by
blossoming Mediterranean gardens "on top of the world". Situated on a volcanic hill
near Puntagorda on La Palma's northwest coast, this traditional Mediterranean-style
villa offers an oasis of absolute peace and relaxation. The house with its old terracotta
tiles is picturesquely embedded in the surrounding Mediterranean landscape
architecture with its various terraces and seating spaces.
The villa was recently modernised and offers a unique view of the seemingly endless
Atlantic Ocean. The cosy, stylish interiors with their antique French floor tiles are
characterised by bright colours, classic furniture and Bauhaus-style design classics that
harmonise with the whitewashed walls and warm wood tones of the windows and
doors. Handmade Moroccan tiles and a hammered silver-plated washbasin in the
travertine bathroom show the attention to detail. The spacious bedroom with its
panoramic window overlooks the picturesque natural surroundings and the azure blue
ocean.
The living and dining area with open-plan kitchen leads to a roofed terrace. Another
modern glass-framed viewing terrace in front of the house seems to lead straight to
the horizon and the clouds over the ocean. From here you can enjoy unrivalled
sunsets and dreamy starry nights from the front row.

The villa is located in Puntagorda, a village in the northwest of La Palma, a heartshaped island with secluded beaches, volcanoes and dense forests. Located between
the ravines of Garome and Izcagua, Puntagorda is surrounded by pine and almond
trees and is famous for its almond blossoms in January and February. Visit the
“Almendro en Flor” festival in February with music, dancing and free almond and palm
wine, or the patron saint festival in honour of San Mauro Abad in August. The
Barranco de Izcagua and the forest of El Fayal are beautiful excursion destinations
nearby. A popular market, the Mercadillo, is held in the village at weekends, where
local produce, wine, cheese and handicrafts are on sale.

Hiking trails lead directly from the villa into the unspoilt nature of the
greenest island of the Canaries. The unique biodiversity of vegetation and fauna of
"Europe's Galapagos" is a unique natural spectacle. La Palma is famous for its clear
night skies with minimal light pollution, so you can experience an evening sky full of
stars. The observatory on the Roque de Los Muchacho, one of the largest in the
world, is open to visitors by prior reservation.

Ein magischer Ort

Die Lage des äußerlich und innen sehr ansprechenden Hauses ist ein einziger Traum, wir haben bis jetzt auf vielen Reisen weltweit bisher keinen Ort gefunden, der diese einzigartige Mischung von ruhiger Alleinlage, 180 Grad Meeresrundblick mit phantastischen Wolkenformationen und spektakulären Sonnenuntergängen spwie einem wundersschön angelegten, das gesamte Haus umgebenden, sehr gepflegten Garten geboten hat. Achtung: hohe Suchtgefahr! Wegen des Genusses, an diesem Ort zu verweilen, haben wir viele geplante Wanderungen nicht unternommen, was allerdings leicht zu verschmerzen war.

A great place to relax

A great place to relax

The property was beautiful and had amazing sunset views over the sea. The house was comfortable, clean and well-equipped. It was a perfect place to kick back and relax after a day of hiking, or to simply lounge around on a lazy day. We particularly enjoyed having a glass of wine and watching the sun set in the evening!

Exceptionally beautiful location in an amazingly quiet environment.

The house is a dream, beautiful and well-appointed with everything you need. Absolutely private as the nearest houses are a good distance away. The larger house on the property (same owner) is completely separate – you might not even notice it – but convenient if you are a larger family or friend group who want to be together and yet apart. Surrounded by three terraces and a small extremely well-maintained garden (the gardener comes by once a week) there is a 180o view of the Atlantic Ocean, audible when there is no wind. In the evening you can enjoy the sun go down in every disguise imaginable and the night sky is amazingly clear. In January mornings and evenings have a certain chill, so the fireplace was used daily. Firewood is available upon arrival and the area is full of pine trees, so collect cones for ignition. At night the duvets were necessary and very lovely. From the house you can go on a lot of different walks, or you can go to other areas. There is so much to explore, and wherever you go it is beautiful – and very varied. One day on the volcano rim the next by the sea. You can do your everyday shopping in Puntagorda with three mini-markets, a German bakery/cafe, a Health store and the famous organic farmers market where the locals sell their fresh produce and the hippies come down from the mountains to socialize. If you want to do some serious shopping, go to the Hyper Dino in El Paso. It has more than you would think possible – our yaws dropped! Right opposite there is a small butcher that also sells grilled chickens and piglets – mouthwatering. A really good take-away option. There are the restaurants you need, marked on the map, and quite good all of them. Convenient that you don’t need to look for a restaurant when you are on tour! The towns of course have a larger selection, Puntagorda at least four. The local wine is surprisingly good, and the TEA wine is a must to try. There are many brands, so go to the Tourist office for the wine route map and buy from the bodega. Well, we could go on about how lovely everything is. We felt at home from day one – both on the island and in the house, that was everything we had hoped. The photos on the site a true and from them it is easy to imagine how it is, but the location has to be experience in real time to understand. Go for it, and you will be blown away. Bereits zum 3. Mal haben wir unseren Urlaub an diesem wunderbaren Ort verbracht und es war bestimmt nicht der letzte... Das Haus und besonders der Garten sind in Wirklichkeit noch schöner als es die Bilder versprechen. Die Ausstattung ist hochwertig und mit viel Geschmack und Liebe zum Detail ausgesucht. Besonders die gute Ausstattung der Küche wissen wir zu schätzen, da wir immer selber gekocht haben, denn der Ausblick von der Terrasse beim Abendessen auf den Atlantik und die Sonnenuntergänge ist einfach nicht zu toppen. Der herzliche Empfang durch Carola und den Vermieter sind ebenfalls bemerkenswert. Ein weiteres Plus sind die vielen Wandermöglichkeiten direkt ab Haus und die gute Erreichbarkeit der Geschäfte in Puntagorda. Wir können dieses Ferienhaus jederzeit weiterempfehlen. Das Beste, was wir je hatten

Es war das schönste Haus, daß wir je auf einer kanarischen Insel hatten und wir sind seit Jahren jeden Winter auf einer Insel (das 2. mal auf La Palma) Angefangen bei der Buchung, die schon herzlich und unkompliziert war. Fragen werden sofort beantwortet und eine vernünftige Anfahrtsbeschreibung gibt es dann auch (haben wir auch schon anders erlebt. Von Carola herzlichst empfangen und in alles freundlich eingewiesen. Danke hierfür und daß Angebot, bei Fragen zur Seite zu stehen (was aber gar nicht nötig war). Kompliment an den Fotografen, der sehr schöne Bilder gemacht hat und die Vorfreude war schon riesig. Aber der Ausblick konnte selbst er nicht treffen. Alles ist noch viel besser, als auf den Bildern. Man kommt rein in die Wohnung ist schon überwältigt von der Rundumsicht aus der Wohnung. Und dann erst die Aussicht von der Terrasse. Kein Haus, Zaun oder Stromleitung stört. Man kommt sich vor, als wäre man alleine auf der Insel. Normalerweise trinken wir gerne mal einen Kaffee nach einer Wanderung in einem Lokal unterwegs, hier aber sind wir schnellstmöglichst in unser Heim gefahren, um den Sonnenuntergang auf unserer Terrasse zu genießen. Die Ausstattung im Haus selber könnte nicht besser sein. Alles Profigeräte und kein billiger Plastik in der Küche, statt dessen schönes Porzellan, gute Messer, Edelstahl-Milchkännchen, Profi-Saftpresse,.... Gute Betten mit vernünftigen Decken und Kissen. Ein Bad mit Echtglasdusche und Marmorheizung, die gute Dienste in Winter leistet, wenn man nach einer Wanderung in einem vorgeheiztem Bad gleich duschen kann. Handtücher, Badehandtücher und auch große Handtücher für die Liegen sind aussreichend vorhanden. Die Waschmaschine tut gute Dienste bei 3 Wochen Aufenthalt. Im Wohnzimmer ein guter Ofen, der wirklich heizt und Oskar sorgt für Holznachschub und kümmert sich liebevoll und diskret um den herrlichen Garten. Fernseher und W-Lan funtioniert problemlos. Wenn man überhaupt über etwas meckern kann (Jammern auf höchstem Nivau), dann ist das hübsche Sofa nur etwas zu klein für 2 Personen, um auch mal einen gemütlichen Abend zuhause zu verbringen. Allerdings haben wir sowieso viel lieber auf der Terrasse gesessen. Terrassen gibt es rundum, morgens schon in der Sonne frühstücken, nachmittags hinterm Haus erhöht mit einem Buch verbracht und Abends den Sonnenuntergang unterm Dach genoßen. Was soll ich sagen?! Das muß jeder für sich selbst bewerten, für uns das absolute " non plus ultra". Wer Insel u. Bewohner erleben möchte, ohne viel verrückten Tourismus, liegt m. La Palma besser als richtig. Dies wird mit der tollen Finca, die von A-Z alles zu bieten hat ( Fotos der Beschreibung sind autentisch) abgerundet. Der überaus gute Geschmack für Einrichtung und die Liebe zum Detail der Vermieter sind einmalig und das Team direkt vor Ort unschlagbar ! Carola, die das Domizil in Schuß hält, immer ein offenes Ohr für Fragen, Tips, und einfach nur so - lieb - ist, sowie Oskar, der den Garten bzw. das dazugehörige Naturumfeld hegt und pflegt, und, wenn es mal nötig sein sollte, sofort das nötige Holz zum Heizen vorbeibringt, runden diesen TRAUM ab. Wir waren 1 Woche in diesem wunderschönen Häuschen. Ein traumhafter Platz, Ruhe und Erholung pur, wunderbare Ruheplätze und rundum Aussicht und Weite auf Natur und Meer - sehr geschmackvolle Ausstattung, der es an nichts fehlt - alle unsere Erwartungen wurden übertroffen. Wir kommen jederzeit gerne wieder !
